Appearance:
Melek Taus is fair of skin and elegant of dress. Her garment bears the feathered theme of the peacock with quills accents dotting most of her garb. A long gold trimmed headdress sports a mane of feathers and a white veil across the top half of her face. Her wardrobe is often changing thanks to the magic of her sleeves, one minute a modest priestly outfit and then the next the diplomatic dress of a noble. Hidden beneath her clothes a beautiful tattoo runs along her arms from the tips of her hands, to other reaches of her body, coalescing into a twisting dark tapestry of Thassilonian runes and symbols dating back to an age from beyond the written word. Straightened to her full height she reaches a modest three foot two inches tall, and an even thirty pounds. Her bust is modest but her legs are a little short for her frame, giving her a bottom heavy look despite her androgynous leanings. Regardless of her diminutive stature, which tall for a halfling, she imposes a sense of awe on those around her radiating a sense of unnerving wellness. A cheery heart faced woman with sad brown eyes whose pale cheeks and strong straight nose are covered by a veil. A faded hook shaped scar runs from her bottom heavy lip through her well defined chin, indicating at one point it was most likely much worse. This scar is the only remnant of the first pain she felt upon this mortal coil. Question 2
Personality:
Melek is benevolent, conniving, confident, vicious, and empathic. While the core of her being may appear split, she is genuine in her affection of humanity but won't ever let it undermine her goals. She considers morality to to be expendable in the pursuit of enlightenment and inner peace. She very much believes that the ends justify the means. To say she has a God complex is fitting because that's what she believes she is but she sees no point in being unreasonable, impolite, or even upbeat, often willing to sit down and talk to work out disagreements with her enemies, just as easily as she is to adopt a scorched earth/throat slitting policy. But since she is a deity reborn in human form she is not without her flaws. Sarcasm is often lost on her, she's just begun grasping the basics but finds its purpose irrelevant. She is also deathly afraid of being alone. She has been dead for thousands of years and even for a god, a blink of isolation in the void of eternity is traumatic. Gods shouldn't die. And that philosophical dissonance has left a fracture in her immortal mind. While she most often possesses a refined phlegmatic personality, she secretly enjoys crude or absurdist humor. While worldly in scholastic and emotional aspects she's naive to how the world works now. All these nations falling and rising, its hard to keep track.
Question 3
Past:
Melek Taus is from the empire of Thassilon and beyond. But the body she's inhabiting belonged to a halfling slave from Korvosa named Emri. Emri was brought along with her Elven wizard master from the University of Korvosa to investigate the floating monastery of Sech Nevali where the Spirit of the Peacock supposedly dwelt. Raised on the streets of the city before being entrapped into the life of a slave, Emri had thankfully been sold to one of the kinder masters amongst the ranks of slavers. While she lacked the freedom she'd had in her youth, safety and security were no longer an issue. Spending years learning the techniques of a proper slip, she had actually obtained some measure of happiness. That was before her master Ariannelle became obsessed with the myth of the Spirit of the Peacock. Spending hours of studying and researching ancient tomes and artifacts, Emri was dragged across half of Varisia and beyond. Finally arriving at the monastery after months of searching and weeks crawling through the dangerous territory of the Holds of Belkenzen, Emri thought her troubles were at an end. But after three years of serving her studying master in Sech Nevali she was gangpressed into believing in the Spirit of the Peacock by her master whose obsession had reached a fever pitch. Ariannelle's colleagues believed their leader wanted to access the supposed treausre and wealth of ancient knowledge. she could use her slave in a plan to access the forbidden parts of the temple. Only Emri knew the truth behind her masters obsession. That she hoped to access the room to reawaken the Spirit of the Peacock in mortal form, through Arianelle's body. Question 4
Nature of Abilities:
Some of her abilities were gained after her rebirth and others were inate to her host Emri or just power from the Goddess herself. The stealth and sneaky trickery nature to Melek, is Emri's contribution while the persuasive nature and knowledge base comes from The ancient Spirit portion. The combat was honed after her release into the new world, trained by the last remaining member of the order of the Eastern Star who sought her out as the world burned. Melek Taus possesses the combat expertise and bodyguard feat becuase she is not an uncaring God. All the better to protect those in service to or league with her. Her broken wing gambit ability is similar in that she prefers attacks and focus to be on her both as a way of protecting her allies but she's also not unfond of the attention. Her Mesmerist Abilities give her an edge in unnerving opponents and aiding her followers. She is a gathering storm and all of her spells were selected to either create spectacle or enchant her enemies.

Melek Taus was reborn on The lead wizard of one of the groups, Arianelle(had become desperate due to the lack of contact with the outside world, supply runs had stopped and whispers of doom spreading across Golarion), however found a way to get inside by using the other group to distract the graveknights. Once inside however there was nothing but dust in the chamber, it was completely empty. Not discouraged, she wouldn't let anyone else but herself inside the small room and began conducting the ceremony as her colleagues and underlings waited outside. The wizard produced rituals and spells of all kinds to try and contact the Spirit to offer herself as its host on earth but after hours of trying she quit in a fit of exhaustion and despair. Emri, the head halfling slave, thinking their journey was finally over, entered to retrieve her master. The very moment she stepped inside she Was overtaken with a change speaking and standing differently. After only a few moments of conversation they all realized that the peacock spirit had been born once more. Without any flash or ceremony, she just suddenly was. Several of the scholars turned monks bent the knee right there and offered their undying devotion to the reborn entity.Though the wizard, either overwhelmed with her presence or horrified that she had been passed up threw herself from the temples edges into the cliff below in a fit of madness. The cosmic irony of a slave being embodied by the spirit of nobility was not lost on her before the end. Melek Taus spent the next few years in the enclave adjusting to her physical existencs before venturing out and learning of her world. Joining forces with the last vestige of the Order of the Eastern Star , she learned combat. Her outlook was very different from the citizens of the land as she had known nothing of the world since her rebirth but that it was filled with chaos. And she saught to tame this world. (She will approach the world with fresh eyes. Her view is different not just because she believes she's a god but because she has been isolated up until the year the game starts. She will be looking to rebuild her religion creating holidays and new practices. The Apocalypse to her is just the world removing its Mask. It had always been on the brink but now its fall is apparent to all. To her, thats all that has changed She sees that people need her now more than ever, because they see the truth.)
Goals:
1.Meet with Karzoug. She must break bread with the Runelord and either end him or join forces. His connection to the old world is beyond valuable to her ascension. 2.Re-establish her connection to the world. Build relationships, churches and find artifacts to help reignite the souls in the face of eternal bleakness. 3. Learn of the new world. While the world has shown its true colors of destruction, it is still strange to a recently born godling and she must learn its idiosyncrasies. 4.Work with others to help them meet their goals. A god's work is never done and the eternal affection should be spread to all. Role:
Her role in the group is that of Den Mother. She listens to the stories and problems of her comrades without judgement. Mostly. But she's also the first to try something different and explore a new experience with wide eyed intent. Despite this slight naivete to her character she is the last to bat an eye at cruelty and violence. If it's dished out by herself then she regrets it to some degree, even apologizing to her victim for torturing them. But above all else she holds an appreciation for law and order. She IS the authority, afterall. But she genuinely cares and is willing to sacrifice her well-being for others most often standing at the front lines, taking hits and attention away from her allies. She picks away at her foes with her spells and soaks up damage often providing her friends with opportunities to get attacks in on them.
