Sighing at the futility of pressing the confused woman for any more information, Meilin stands and stretches. She walks over to where she can see the open sky and whistles, trying to attract a nearby bird. Once there, she asks it if it has seen any other two-legs around recently.

I hate to, but I agree. I keep waiting for something to happen, but so far, the only thing that's happened (the mudslide) was largely off-screen. I like my character and I feel connected enough to the character, but so far, not to the game. We need to kick it up a notch.

"We are but travelers, honored Mother. It was fate that lead us to your home in time to save you. Now, tell us of Lin. How did you meet him?"

Meilin leads the woman into the shelter and sits her down as comfortably as she can. Once done, she goes into the forest to find some greens and berries or root vegetables for dinner; she does not eat the animals of the forest.

Meilin holds the woman's hand, talking in a calm voice to her. "Honored Mother, the mudslide has destroyed your house. If you had been inside, you would be dead now. Please, once the danger has passed, we will see you to safety. But now, please tell me of Lin. How did you meet him? What does Lin do?"

"Shh, shh, there, there. Everything will be alright, Honored Mother. We must reach shelter to avoid the mudslide. In the meantime, please, tell me of Lin. How long have you and he been together? What does he do for a livelihood?" Barring anyone spotting shelter, Meilin will guide the woman away from the mudslide while trying to calm her.

Meilin's face softens when Asura covers the woman with the blanket. "We can seek out Lin later, but we must find shelter first. Can you see anyplace where we would be safe from the mudslide?"

Meilin will lead the woman away from the mudslide, toward any sort of high or rocky ground.

"Oh no. Honored Mother, please, come with me. I will see that you are unharmed." Meilin shoots Asura a dirty look, then firmly takes the woman's arm and begins to drag her outside, looking toward Jin or Chan for help.

Meilin gasps, falling back a step. Then, steeling herself, she steps inside and takes the woman's elbow, saying "Please, Honored Mother, we must flee this place or you will die horribly in a mudslide. Come with us, Honored Mother. We mean you no harm."

Asura, I don't see a post where you break down the door. Has the post-monster eaten it?

Meilin seems conflicted. On the one hand, she wants to respect the woman's choice; on the other, she wants to save the poor woman.

She sighs loudly.

"Master Monk, would you please open this door for us? We must relocate Honored Mother to a safer place. The spirits have placed us here for a reason; I believe that this is it."

"A mudslide? Please honored Mother, you must allow us to escort you to safety. It is the will of the spirits that has brought us here, so that those in need may become the means of salvation. Your Lin would not wish you to perish."

"What is that strange rumbling?"

Meilin's face falls. "Then honored mother, can you tell us if there is a cave or shelter near by that we might use instead? Perhaps a dry place?"

"Please honored mother, I am certain that Lin will not punish you for providing hospitality to travelers. The spirits will bless you for your charity, and we shall do our best to repay your kindness. Please, honored mother; we could explain our need when Lin returns?"

Meilin answers, "No honored mother. We are but travelers crossing this land. We seek shelter and a dry place to sleep. May we use your barn or shelter?"

Meilin frowns as she looks up, and Minko whines from his shelter between her legs, covered in mud and looking miserable. "I agree, honored comrades. Perhaps we might beg hospitality from those who work this land."

I am in agreement, honored DM.

"The animals speak of the way ahead. They say that the road sometimes holds bandits, and the open country is full of animals. We may encounter a predator. I would much rather speak with the animals than worry about the low demeanor of bandits. I vote for the open country."

DM, may I find a bird nearby and converse with it? If so, I respectfully ask it whether it has seen danger upon either path. Predators, men with low demeanor or strange sights?

"I am unaccustomed to such travel, save by foot. I will walk, if it suits the others."

Meilin bows and keeps her eyes downcast as the man leaves. When he is gone, she looks up and smiles happily to the people assembled. "I am called Meilin. This," she waves at a fox hiding behind her legs, "is Minko. We are honored to make your acquaintance each and every one. May the spirits guide our path and keep us safe."

Ready!

Meilin bowed deeply. "I am honored to serve."

Hooray! I will make a profile for Meilin shortly.

EDIT: And here she is! Ready to go when you are!
