Cha 19 and the Greater Mercy feat are required for the feat Ultimate Mercy.

Hello all! Because of some recent errata, I've been considering some retraining, and I thought that while I'm at it I might as well try to figure out what it would take to reach my ideal retroactive build.

This profile should contain an accurate character sheet, but I'll post the most relevant parts of what I have now and what I would like to get to:

Current:
Paladin (Oath of Vengeance) 8
Str 13 Dex 22 Con 14
Int 7 Wis 7 Cha 18
Feats:
1: Weapon Finesse, Power Attack
3: Dervish Dance
5: Extra Lay on Hands
7: Amateur Swashbuckler (Opportune Parry & Riposte)

Retraining results desired:
- One level of Paladin to one level of Swashbuckler
- Weapon Finesse to Greater Mercy
- Amateur Swashbuckler to Combat Reflexes
- 8th level ability score increase switched from Dex to Cha (final scores 21 and 19 respectively)

Retraining math:
- 1 paladin level to one Swashbuckler level: 7 days
- Weapon Finesse: can't be retrained because it's a prerequisite for Dervish Dance (even if I retrain into Swashbuckler first and have Swashbuckler Finesse, as I understand it - please correct me if I'm wrong). But I could retrain Dervish Dance into Toughness or something, retrain Weapon Finesse into Greater Mercy, then retrain *back into* Dervish Dance. Total: 3 feats for 15 days
- Amateur Swashbuckler to Combat Reflexes: this is free, as I have the illegal pre-errata version and can replace it with Combat Reflexes because that feat has no prerequisites.
- Ability score retrain: 5 days
Total: character level 8 x 27 days x 10 gold per day per level = 2,160 gold and 27 prestige points.

Have I done this right? Can anyone confirm whether or not the Weapon Finesse / Swashbuckler Finesse nonsense is needed?

Do you think it's possible/advisable to get my Charisma from 18 to the requisite 19 for that feat, though? I already used my level 8 attribute increase, so I think the easiest way would be to upgrade my headband to +4. I'll check on the price difference...

Actually, checking the retraining rules, it's WAY cheaper than I thought to change the feat, and I didn't realize I could retrain the ability score increase as well. Might just do that...

Get the Fey Foundling feat. It has amazing synergy with your LoH ability.

Unfortunately, Fey Foundling has to be taken at level 1 and I'm already level 8. Otherwise I'd be all over that. (Definitely for an oradin build if I ever get around to it).

To narrow it down, since this is a pretty open ended question, here are some options I'm looking at:

No prerequisites:
Blind Fight
Antagonize (I would be using Diplomacy instead of Intimidate)

Retraining options:
Reactive Healing
Death or Glory
Greater Mercy
Radiant Charge

Any of these stand out as particularly good to pick up?

So I just learned that the Amateur Swashbuckler feat's Opportune Parry and Riposte deed option is no longer legal. I have to rebuild this feat on my 8th level Dervish Dance paladin for Pathfinder Society play. Here are my options:

1. Keep Amateur Swashbuckler, and switch the deed to Derring-Do (nope) or Dodging Panache (...maybe?)

2. Replace it with a feat that has NO prerequisites.

3. Ultimate Campaign retraining? I need to look into what I can do with this in PFS.

My build is on this profile, but for quick reference here are stats and feats:

Str 13 Dex 22 Con 14
Int 7 Wis 7 Cha 18

Feats:
Weapon Finesse, Power Attack, Dervish Dance, Extra Lay on Hands, Amateur Swashbuckler (Opportune Parry & Riposte)

I'm not sure what the best options are here. Any recommendations?

Meg spends her time in the demi-plane healing wounds and playing with the children who try to imitate her dancing.

She also continues to act as Avelina's acting Knight Protector, but far more relaxed with no foreseeable threats on the horizon.

She makes sure to give Misfortune one last thorough scratching, hugging the beast and burying her face in its fur before barbarian and friend leave. "Bye! Take care now!"

Thanks for running this!! It was a fun one, and it's interesting to see what a higher level scenario look like.

Meg pulls her blade from the guard as quickly as it went in, using the momentum to dash back over to the now-visible devil. She executes a tricky spin of her scimitar that is, unfortunately, lost on the currently sightless fiend. "Okay, I know you all haven't been super keen on this so far, but do you want to give up peacefully?" Meg asks hopefully.

Opportune Parry, Smite Evil, no PA, haste, fencer: 1d20 + 15 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 15 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 27

Riposte: 1d20 + 15 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 15 + 4 + 1 = 32
Damage, PA, Smite: 1d6 + 7 + 6 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 6 + 16 = 30

For fear, Meg still has an Aura of Courage, so everyone in a 10ft radius from her gets a +4 morale bonus against fear effects. Meg is immune to fear. That's largely because of this ability, but I like to think it has something to do with her mental ability scores as well. 8)

Meg cuts the devil to pieces, but receives a blow in retaliation from a zombie that quickly falls from Baldwyn's attack as Meg fails to parry it. As Avelina's flaming sphere pops up and the ice wall fails to manifest, Meg gives her charge a quick grin. "Did you melt that whole wall by yourself, My Lady? Well, with Iomedae's blessing, of course, but that was an impressive channeling of her power!"

Mind if I wait on Jacques? I figure he'll probably be smacking down some zombies, and I'll need to know which one to run up to. Also, did my critical hit against the bone devil confirm? Just need to know for panache tracking.

Approaching the alternate town with its cages brimming with people, Meg's face flushes with righteous anger.

"Release these people at once!" she demands, running up just behind Baldwyn. She focuses her divine anger on the bone devil, uttering a prayer for its destruction.
Channel wrath to convert 2 LoH's into another Smite Evil on the Bone Devil.

She readies an action to attack anything that approaches with malice.

Meg keeps an eye out for attacks, both against herself and against her Noble Charge (and Faeranduil).
I'll try an Opportune Parry if it comes up. I'll spend my Immediate Action on either a Riposte or casting Paladin's Sacrifice if Avelina or Faeranduil are attacked.

Against Smited Target, attacks are +4 and damage is +16. Although with these rolls, who knows if it'll matter... :P

Meg rolls to avoid the worst of the flame strike, then utters a [url=http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateCombat/spells/litanyOfWarding.html]Litany of Warding[/ooc] to protect herself.

She then rushes up behind the ancient war leader, determined and only slightly singed. "There's still time to surrender!" she shouts, leveling her blade at the priest.

Double move to get behind, will provoke AoO's from the spellcaster. +2 AC against AoO's from my Litany (and +4 from Smite Evil), will attempt to Parry those and any attacks with my extra AoO's from the Litany.

Round 2

Meg steps up with a spin, lashing out with her scimitar in a whirling dance of steel.

These are against the Red one. If I drop that soldier with my 1st iterative, the 2nd is against Orange.

Meg easily deflects the spear with a flash of her sword, but can't strike back. Yeah, I double moved, and the riposte is part of my AoO rather than a readied action. Saves me an immediate action, though!

Meg rushes up to join the front line, brandishing her golden scimitar dutifully. "Surrender now and seek redemption, or we will fight you!" Meg announces optimistically. She concentrates a smiting prayer on the leader of the soldiers.
Double move, swift action to activate Smite Evil on the leader.

Meg prepares a counter attack against the advancing line.

Acting as a buffer between Her Highness and the pirate, Meg nods courteously to LeGrand as his channel heals her wounds from earlier.

"Following the tracks it is, my Lady Avelina!" she agrees, gladly offering her elbow. "A dress code sounds interesting, I've never heard of that! Frankly, I think people should wear dresses more often--everyone should at least give them a try. Ooh, I bet Misfortune would look cute with a bandanna..."

@ Faeranduil: Lol, that acid-fireball WASN'T you nova-ing?

Meg flourishes with her blade, shaking the battle dew from it, before beaming at her companions. "Well done, friends! We are certainly the formidable bunch, aren't we!" she exclaims, offering congratulatory hugs indiscriminately to her fellow Pathfinders.
Meg can offer a spare Lay on Hands to anyone who needs it. I need to save a few, though, in case I need to convert them into SMITES.

Calming down, she looks around with a confused look on her face. Faeranduil, didn't you say this is a "demiplane"? What's that? Is that, like, an inclined plane, but not very steep?" she asks, scanning the ground. "It seems pretty flat, as far as I can tell...Do you think that last journal is around here somewhere?"

Before Meg can act, the zombies melt before her. [b]"Good job, Faeranduil! Grim, Misfortune, I'm coming!"[/dice] she exclaims, dashing toward the remaining zombies with her sword drawn.

Eep, I've missed a lot of posting today! Sorry, getting adjusted to a new (temp) job, haven't been able to check in until evenings.

As Avelina takes Meg's hand and presses it to her cheek, she feels the warmth of her new charge's skin, and then feels a warmth in her own cheeks as she blushes. But the paladin is thrown for just a brief moment, replying with a cheerful, "How wonderful, my Lady!" She graciously accepts Avelina's furs--partially for their warmth, and partially to see what kind of elegant clothing the Inheritor's Beacon has.

Seeing the skeletal cats, Meg takes a defensive posture. "What are these foul creatures? My Lady, be careful!" she cries, relishing her new-found knightly role.

Meg looks at the body, unnerved, trying to work out what happened to it.

"Maybe it's all pruny from being in the fountain?" she guesses.

"Is this one of the journals we're looking for? I hope the pages aren't too wet to read..."

Meg relaxes and lets out a sigh as the creature vanishes. She makes a silent prayer to Shelyn, asking for her healing light, and her wounds start to close as Avelina restores her strength.

She takes off after the gruff man and his lion, blindingly quick while still under the effects of Faeranduil's spell. "Grim! Misfortune! Come back, we won!"

Round 3

You got the save right. I don't have any special protection from poison, and there's nothing I can do about a 4 on the die.

Wincing from her wounds and the burning venom coursing through her, Meg nonetheless steps up the bone devil clutching her scimitar tightly. "In Shelyn's name, I shall cleanse your ugliness! Give up now!" Meg shouts, calling upon her deity's power. She swings at the creature, powerful and graceful.
Swift action: Smite Evil on the bone devil! I automatically bypass any DR it has.

First iterative: +1 Scimitar, PA, Smite Evil, +2 Bless: 1d20 + 15 - 3 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 15 - 3 + 4 + 2 = 28
Damage: 1d6 + 13 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 16 = 31

"What was that horrible thing?!" Meg shouts as the insectoid monstrosity bites into Grim and then vanishes. Turning to Avelina, Meg clasps her hand and says, "Stay safe, Your Grace!" before bounding over to one of the remaining zombies. She leaps into the air, twirling with an outstretched blade to lay into the red-clad creature.

+1 Keen Scimitar, PA versus RED: 1d20 + 15 - 3 ⇒ (2) + 15 - 3 = 14

If Avelina or Faeranduil is attacked by the undead bug thing, Meg will cast Paladin's Sacrifice as an immediate action.

For the save against panic: Meg has a 10-ft radius Aura of Courage, all within 10 ft of her get +4 on saves against fear.

...I honestly don't know if Meg could have expected or can deal with such a frank answer to a rhetorical question.

How can you be AMUSED when there is a righteous lady IN DANGER?!?!

Meg returns Avelina's smile, amicably laying her own hand on the one snugly around her arm. Once the creatures start their approach, though, Meg gracefully slides out of Avelina's grasp and readies her own scimitar.

She steps between Avelina and Faeranduil with a light, spinning step, scimitar flashing in the bleak sunlight. "Stop! You will not hurt Lady Avelina!" Meg asserts, protective of her new friends. She flourishes with her golden blade, slashing first at the purple attacker, then at the yellow one who dared to approach Her Grace.

Versus purple:

Don't make me get you a second eyepatch," Meg threatens; although her scolding tone sounds like she literally means getting a second eyepatch, rather than a threat of violence. She turns back to Avelina: "Anyway, Your Grace, I would love to hear you sing sometime! I'm something of a dancer myself! We should spend some time together once we're back at a Lodge!"

Perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2

Meg approaches the abandoned inn near the fountain, sword drawn in front of the door. "Should we knock, do you think? That would be the polite thing," she suggests.

Do any of you have a good-aligned aura? I don't think you do, but if so I might trade out one of my 2nd level spell slots for Litany of Righteousness if y'all think it's a good idea.

Spells prepared:
1st: Hero's Defiance, Lesser Restoration
2nd: Litany of Warding, Paladin's Sacrifice

"Huh? Opera armor?" Meg asks, obviously confused. When Avelina explains, the paladin exclaims, "Wait, that's not steel? What a wonderful costume! Why is it called opera armor? Are you a singer?" Meg asks excitedly, before the party continues toward the dilapidated village.

"It's all so sad looking... I bet that fountain was beautiful before," Meg says, indicating the ruined town. Answering Grim, she asserts, "Our first priority should be to help anyone in trouble, and to find those journals. Words before blades, and hopefully words instead of blades. Even this blasted land could be returned to its former beauty with a little bit of care, and the same goes for any people we find--the greatest beauty is born of kindness, so we should be nice first and foremost!"

I'll buy one with my gold, then! (Last scenario I played, my Wisdom got drained from 7 to 2...) I believe it's 800 gold? I'll let Avelina hold on to it for me, if that's all right. :)

Meg, half enraptured with Avelina's seemingly endless knowledge of Iomedae and half distracted by the rewarding purrs from Misfortune, arrives after the teleport in a pleasant mood. She, like her fellow warriors, has drawn her weapon--a gold bladed scimitar with a magically sharpened edge.

She looks nervously at Avelina, replying, "Why would you want to find a demon? Even the ones that look pretty on the outside are born of such ugly evil..." Meg shivers.

Meg's visible eye sparkles at the lion, her smile wide and unrestrained. "A pleasure to meet you, Grim! And you, too, Misfortune!" the paladin exclaims, gently reaching out to scratch the great cat where Grim indicated while respectfully asking (and answering), "Who's a handsome kitty? It's you!"

Meg brushes a lock of curly black hair behind her ear, with a careful, practiced motion to avoid snagging the white, rose-embroidered eye-patch she wears. Smiling, and composing herself despite an obvious desire to touch that white fur, she addresses the man with the falchion. "Hi! I'm Meg! What's this lion's name? I've never seen one before, and certainly not with white fur like this. It's gorgeous!"

Megferra the Rose, aka Meg, is a Paladin of Shelyn in the Pathfinder Society campaign.

Meg has been to a few different fancy parties during her time as a Pathfinder, notably ones hosted by the Blakros family. One was a wedding, and everyone was dressed impeccably, Shelyn must have smiled on them. Meg's question is: when will she find her own romantic love, so that she can wear AMAZING matching dresses with her future wife on the day of their wedding?

Meg just hit level 8, so that'll be her role card number! Unless, is there some specific thing that the number means that I should know before choosing?

Hi! I'm Asha! Monk 4/paladin of Shelyn 7 (hit 8 midway through the adventure) built for and played through a PbP version of The Ruby Phoenix Tournament.

First of all, I need to admit that I both lectured the PCs once and blackmailed them into doing the right thing once during the course of the adventure. (The Eternal Rose and I are both pretty firmly against cutting the throats of unconscious opponents, especially when there are non-murder options available.) That said, while "I'm a paladin" and "I'm a monk" are both large and visible parts of who I am, that's not really where I stop as a character. I'm a dancer, in point of fact, and that's probably more central to my identity than either of the other two. (Also note: while I may have danced on a pole once or twice in my life, "pole dancer" and "polearm dancer" do mean different things.)

I like helping people. I like people in general, in fact - I like finding the parts of them that make them beautiful, and sometimes helping them find those parts too. I like it when they surprise me and challenge my own assumptions. The soul of every being appreciates beauty, although many have been twisted too far up into themselves to really make contact with that part of themselves. But a skilled gardener can, with patience and time, straighten out the branches of a gnarled rosebush so that the blooms can blossom.

People are no different.

There is nothing in all creation more beautiful than the moment when someone's soul blossoms that way.

Wow, you're really smart! All that gardener stuff makes a lot of sense, I'll try to remember it the next time I'm trying to tell people about Shelyn. :) Some people think weeds are bad, but the weeds are just trying to get by, too! And some weeds are really pretty, like dandelions! Uh, I'm not really sure what dandelions would be like as people, though. Am I doing this right? Maybe I should just stick to dancing--have you seen Sarenrae's dervishes? I learned to use a scimitar like they do, and I'm preeeeetty sure they've got a little bit of Shelyn worship potential. :)
