Hey all, I enjoy RP'ing and I enjoy writing. At the moment I find myself without the opportunity to RP so, I have decided to build a world of my own. I would like it to be complete and comprehensive and I would like it to be the world in which one day I may be able to run a game in as well as write stories for. One of the (many) issues I am having is how many races should be included. Assuming the inclusion of all of the base races how many more if any should be included? I have always liked hobgoblins as a major player as well as Drow being separate from elves and not related at all. [In fact in Tome of Horrors 3 there is a race called the Arach to which I have applied the half Drow template and use that as the basis for the Drow as I see them]. I also like the idea of a dragon race [but somehow inline with Draconions as far as diversity is concerned]. I think Aasimars and Tieflings make for a good dynamic as well as the other plane touched races. I also like the races from Eberron as well as the ones from Monte Cooke's Diamond Throne. I would also like to have 2 or 3 naturally psionic races as well as insectoid races [hivemind as well as not]. There are quite a few more ideas and concepts I rather enjoy as well [like Vulcans, Klingons, Shiar, Illithids, Gith, Goa'uld and White/Green Martians]. and that does not include subraces and variants. My question is how many is too many and how do you streamline or put a number on what races to include and make viable/available for use? How many subraces would be viable? How diverse would you make the cultures of each race? At what point does the rule of cool cease to to work? Where do you decide the line is drawn and enough is enough? Which races do any of you include when building a new campaign world? Also what resources or inspirations do you use when deciding what is in or out? Where do you find cultural information, resources or inspirations so not everything is the same as always are static and stale? I could REALLY use some help and advice with this. Thanks.
Hello, It would seem that any possibility of my playing in any games at this point are null and void. So I decided to venture into world building. I plan to build a world both for future gaming (I hope), and as a backdrop fr writing as well. I am hoping to build a world as detailed as Golarion. Although I am working on several aspects of the world I am hoping to get the major villains done early. Two of my most favorite monster/villains are the Goa'uld of Stargate and the Illithid. I am looking to make a race that is a psionic powerhouse based on some combination of the two races. I truly love the parasite/symbiote aspect of the Goa'uld and the sheer terror and psionic might of the Illithid. As well as the histories of both races. I am hoping, and this is where I need as much help as I can get, that the two could be combined into a hybrid that gives the best and the worse of both. They would be the shadow that is behind almost all the evil of the world working at first from the background and then then finally bringing their long term plans to fruition. Can anyone help me to find a way to get these two races together to form a bigger, badder and better race for all to fear? Thanks.
Hey, I am looking for a race of outsiders. I wish them to be neutral or lawful neutral. I plan on them serving the LN god of death and the underworld, he rules over the gray abyss. The outsiders would be subservient to the deity and be his intermediaries to the mortal realm. Any suggestions on what might be usable for this? Thanks.
Hey, One on my most favorite classes to play is and always will be the cleric. But I find I cannot play on in groups that plan to exceed 20th level for the express reason that I do not understand epic spell casting rules [from 3.5]. I was wondering if anyone has found an answer to this. Is it possible to advance the spell progressions further and just keep adding meta magic feats epic and non epic? Is there some other way? Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.
Hey, Basically what I am looking for are: Bodysnatchers:
any thoughts or ideas on what creature would best fit this concept? Or how to make one? One of my biggest issues is reproduction. I don't like the idea of a queen and was thinking about them being able to reproduce through the hosts. Laying a clutch of 4 - 8 leathery slimy eggs that produce offspring. I also feel that they should be naturally psionic. Any thoughts or suggestions? Swarm:
Are there any creatures that can take that role? How might you make a race or type? Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions would be great. Thanks. |
