Thanks :) - a GM has to consider many things for a party, so I'm sure he made a great choice

Thanks for the consideration :) - Maxime will find a place in the future somewhere ;)

Olla - another Serpent Skull recruitment thread. I'm keen to join one of those pbps, as my gaming group is neck deep in 4 campaigns already, this new one wont see the light of our dice for years yet.

I'll post a character concept later if I find the time.

I think Maxime will stand as she is - unless there are specific requests to change some aspect of her :) - thanks

Thanks for the suggestion markofbane - Yuuwa was actually commenting on me and her wandering on from SdF's recruitment thread.

Hey Maxime, we are wanderers amongst the threads. Good Luck!

Thanks, you too! Eventually our characters will find the loving hom--- GM that they deserve ;)

This is the background I created for Scipion del Ferro's recruitment thread, unfortunately Maxime didn't make it into the final group. Being a member of the Pathfinders would not fit Maxime at the outset of the game; but rather I imagine that she could be convinced to join (or act as a guide) thereafter. Her character background makes her familiar with the jungle and ancient ruins.

The character is updated to level 2; if there are problems don't hesitate to let me know :)

Background:
Maxime is the unsolicited result of an encounter between a Chelish colonialist and a Mwangi girl. Though obviously of mixed blood, the child did find a home among the tribe and grew to the onset of puberty with little more than a hint of her mixed heritage.

With her first blooding her body awakened to more than it was accustomed to. A feral, bestial nature revealed itself that neither the girl nor the tribe and its shaman could cope with. The girl was not killed outright, as such would release the aktu, the evil inside her; instead she was cast from the tribe - banished - and with her the evil spirit that had taken possession of her.

The girl survived the jungle. Spending the next ten years fending for herself - with little human contact. Over the course of years she became a primal spirit to the Mwangi tribes in the delta she frequented: rarely seen, unnaturally beautiful, and often in or near sites of ruins - where spirits lived. She became known as Sikutku - She Who Hunts At Dawn - as she was almost never sighted at other times of the day.

After more than a decade of the girl's drifting in the jungle, the lore of her reached even Kalabuto. It became a bit of a colonialist sport to hunt for this "legendary jungle spirit" - and it took just short of six years for the girl - now a woman - to be caught by one Lord Maximus Rachmanov. Named after her captor, Maxime was displayed and brandished in her "natural feral beauty as when the beast was caught", that is to say naked, she was exhibited throughout Sargava and parts of Cheliax.

On the return voyage to Sargava Maxime finally caught a lull in her guard, ripping one guard's throat open with her bare hands and killing the other with his own dagger. At the time nobody dared approach her, then as more days passed Maxime became a quiet fixture of the ship. People saw her change from a beast to merely a human, barring her teeth only when startled or when approached uninvited.

A pity :) - best of fun to the chosen ones! May we clash dice in the future ;)

...I'll keep my eyes posted for Tikael

A bard monk? What a cool concept, I honestly never considered such a build.

Edit: Profile updated with legal feats and added hero points

Yes, but it isn't meaningful necessarily. For example, a character (say a prince) can easily claim he was wearing his father's headband of +2 Int while growing up. Not now anymore, of course, but he already has Combat Expertise by now. "Temporarily" qualifying for a feat is pretty lame, I think; that leaves room open for emulating class features and the like.

Just to clarify, I don't like such a slippery slope; I'm primarily playing devil's advocate. At least in my case, in a few levels the character is the same regardless of the order in which powers/feats are acquired, so no harm done :)

The thing is, it is possible to qualify for feats using items. For example if you have 12 Int and use a headband to get +2 Int, then you qualify for Combat Expertise; but you cannot use it if you take the headband off. At least that was the FAQ ruling in 3.5

Out of thread: I have heard that it is possible to take any feat without meeting its prerequisites, only that the feat has no effect until such time that the character qualifies for it - but I don't know if this is a valid interpretation of core rules.

Maxime the only issue with your character is you may not be able to take the feat Extra Rage Power at first level because it requires the Rage Power ability as a prerequisite...

Oh crap! You're right! Can I "hold" my feats until level 2, to qualify? Or shall I rather take Dodge and Power Attack? Maxime'd be taking both feats eventually anyway - I just wanted to get the basic character concept done in level 1.

Hi, I hope I'm just-in-time to still qualify for evaluation. I've had a pretty fun time (albeit perhaps a bit too much time) creating Maxime. I hope she meets your approval.

Edit: PS - the general lack of money and equipment is intended :) - the character as presented in the profile is pretty much final (barring specific changes you may want).

My pbp resume includes Xaaon of Korvosa's Crimson Throne and Mortika's Slumbering Tsar.
