The great thing about the Inquisitor is there are just so many different ways to go with him. My Inquisitor is a Half-Orc follower of Abadar, who goes to the deepest parts of uncivilized lands in an attempt to start spreading law and order in Abadar's name. As people have said, there is alot of things you can do with the building of one, such as archer or melee combatant, but I've also had alot of fun building a tank with one. At level 7 my Inquisitor is starting combat with a 26 AC, and after using his own buffs he can get up to 31 AC, and after using the buffs of the rest of the group, his AC has gotten as high as 37 or so. He isn't a meat shield HP wise, but he can take a decent number of hits. Even with all of his build focusing on tanking, he can still put out a good amount of damage just by using Bane.

His character died at level 7, so he's rolling another level 7, so it works out =)

Hey guys, I have a character that is about to make a pally in my game after his last character died. He was asking about mounts, and we talked about giving him a lion mount, even though it is more powerful (by alot) than a warhorse it seems like. Does anyone have any advice on giving paladins different mounts than horses? If this is going to blow up in my face I'd like to know ahead of time lol.

Hey guys, I'm looking to have a massive battle in an upcoming session, kind of 300esque, where one large army assaults a town, and a small group of adventurer's try and hold them off as long as they can. I've been looking around to see if I can find any good resources for how to conduct a large scale battle, I can't see myself have 120+ initiatives in a round. Does anyone have any suggestions to how they handled it, or have found any resources that were particularly effective? Thanks for the help!

Hey guys, thanks for all the good ideas so far! I really appreciate all the advice!

Someone posted earlier asking for more information about what I was planning on doing with my world, and I'll be glad to share what I have so far. The general goal for them is that they will start off in the brig of a slave ship, having been captured and are being taken to be sold (they can still have any back story they want, but it just has to have had an opportunity for them to have been kidnapped at some point). They have to figure out how to get out of the brig and get off the ship. At that point they will wind up on a spooky deserted island with a huge mansion, and there will be a murder mystery/dungeon crawl. At the end of the dungeon they will fight the big bad guy for while, and he will run through a portal and (hopefully) the PC's will chase him. They will pop out in a big huge mega city somewhere on the other side of the world, at which point the game will become much more open for whatever they want to do. Is this too linear or does it sound like a good basic idea of a way to get started?

Hey all, here's my question. I am trying to get a homebrew campaign going at my local store, and I have had this great overarching campaign idea for a few years. However, now that I am trying to put it down on paper and create individual sessions, I am having trouble. I was wondering what other people normally do when they decide they want to homebrew a campaign: Do you normally start with an awesome and epic plot, and fill in the holes as you go, or start with the first session and then kind of build off of that as you go? Also, any general homebrewing advice would be welcome =)

Thanks!

So we are playing Serpent Skull tonight, book one, and we stumble across a little shed. My half-orc inquistor kicks in the door, hops in, and looks around, asking what he sees. The DM response... "You jump inside the shed... it's a Gazebo." (Which for those who don't know, is a reference to http://www.netfunny.com/rhf/jokes/98/Jul/gazebo.html ) My group found the whole thing pretty hilarious, but I had to ask: Has anyone else ever been "Gazeboed" by the DM while playing before?

So my new group met for the first time last night, and I had gone in with the idea of playing a 2H weapnon wielding Inquisitor that beat the snot out of stuff. Once everyone shared what they wanted to play though, I discovered I was probably the only tank type character we had. Our group is going to be me, an Inquisitor, a melee ranger, and archery ranger, a druid, a wizard, and a bard-barian. I have no problem tanking for our group, but I wanted to know, is it possible to do that while still using, lets say, a greataxe, or do I really need to switch over to a sword and shield type style? Any advice is appreciated!

Well right now, at level 1, he's wearing a breastplate and carrying a greataxe. I gave him dodge as his feat, which currently puts hits AC at 19 with 10hp but I still have time to change it if I want to. I was hesitant to give him heavy armor since we are going to be running around the jungle, so I thought a breast plate might be the better choice. I was also planning on taking alot of the power attack type feats, since I can judge to hit anyways. Will this end up making him too squishy in melee combat though?

Well I think one of my main concerns is if someone does decide to play a paladin, is there anyway around that if I am playing a LE character? Or is the paladin just either going to try to kill me or refuse to work with me?

I really like that Operative example, I might end up actually using that as a driving force for the character. Right now my character doesn't even have a ranged weapon, he's got a breastplate, greataxe, and a combat dog, and that's it. It sounds like I might need to at least consider some ranged options though?

why evil?? from what you just described i thought LN. maybe this isnt the right place. but why do players chose EVIL??? to me evil says you only care about yourself. if your in a group, a evil PC would turn on the group when ever it serves the evil PC best.

i dont intend to judge, or rant, but why be evil??

Well my thought process was that if he wanted to go around killing people because they were evil, then he would have to be evil himself. He has no intention of apprehending criminals or seeing that they see an appropriate justice, he just wants to terminate them. I figured that the only way he could get away with that would be if he was Lawful Evil. I was kind of thinking of like Dexter, on TV. He murders people who probably deserve it, but that doesn't make it ok.

Have you decided upon a god and domain yet? For evil, I kind of like Destruction, Ferocity, or Deception domain/sub-domains.

Asmodeus LE Deception
Norgorber NE Deception
Urgathoa NE Ferocity
Zon-Kuthon LE Destruction

If you want the Travel domain, as many seem to reccomend, you could go with Abadar LN but I just really think he is kinda boring as a god. :) After reading CotCT AP, I really like Zon-Kuthon, so I would lean this way. Besides, destruction is coolies.

For story purposes, I was actually thinking of going with Abadar as my deity, because the premise of my character was going to be that he was kind of like the Punisher, a bounty hunter. Since Abadar is the God of Law, my guy is going to go around hunting down people who break the law, and getting rid of them, and I thought that the travel domain made sense for someone who was going to be doing this. I figured if he was hunting down people who broke the law, then at least he would have a reason to work with other characters, even if they were of some other good-alignments. I'm mostly hoping no one wants to play a paladin lol.

Hi all, new player to the Pathfinder games, after having played 3.0 like 6-7 years ago briefly. We're about to do the Serpent's Skull adventure path, and I've kinda decided on playing a LE half-orc Inquisitor native to Sargava. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on either RPing an Inquisitor or how to handle them in combat. I was anticipating on playing him as a melee caster type, you know, buff himself and then run head first into combat. Am I on the right track, or is this something that would get an Inquisitor killed? Thanks for any input! =)
