About Mathias Tam

Mathias' father Jaks Tam owned a prosperous cabbage farm in Nirmathas' Marideth River Valley a days walk from the city of Pert. When Jaks wed Wyssal their future looked bright and soon they were blessed with children, four boys, Nim, Tucker, Samford, and Mathias. With the families growth and hard-work the future abounded with many prospects and possibilities. Unfortunately, the continued conflicts with Molthune prevented this from happening. On many occasions the hostilities forced them to abandon their and lose several seasons of crops. Frustrated, Jaks moved his family west to start over.

He decided to settle on the borders of the Chernasardo in the foothills of the Mindspin Mountains east of the lost mines. Here in this hardscrabble land Jaks would build a farm. The farmhouse was like no other, it was built underground in the side of a hill. However, the land proved more stubborn than Jaks and the family struggled. Poor crops coupled with dying livestock left the struggling family with few choices. So with heavy harts the youngest son Mathias, was shipped off to live with Jaks cousin Jimes "Short Change" Iggens in Kasen. Mathias spent the next next eight years there until he joined up with a band of woodsmen and spent the next four years traveling around Nirmathas where he gained skills as a scout and learned how to ride a wolf. Although he long considered himself an adult Mathias returned to Kassen for the coming of age ceremony.
