Wow . . . it took me a while to realize it, but I guess I'm the bastard everyone is berating for calling them a "noob" since no one else mentioned starting players and the content of the book. Now that I realize that, I guess all I can say is that I didn't say that the book would only appeal to new players, nor that adding sample encounters and adventure ideas would only appeal to new players, or that there is something wrong with players that have been playing forever liking to have that content as well.

What I said is that such material is useful to someone that has never played the game before, that hasn't seen a ton of adventures in multiple editions, and that doesn't quite know where to start.

Your apology is appreciated Knight, but I think it was actually Balabanto that was expressing noobist attitudes. I've been playing since '79, DMing since '81, am clearly not a noob, and enjoyed the book.

WOTC puts out material that appeals to different people/groups for different reasons. If it doesn't appeal to you don't buy it. If they produce enough stuff with little appeal, simple economics takes care of the problem. The only thing I object to is the implication that because you (not talking to anyone specific here) don't like something, anyone who does is somehow inferior. Critique the material, not the individuals whose views might be different from your own.

Well then something is wrong, as I rec'd the order on 4/13. And I beleieve I was checking status for a week before it shipped. If my current order is going to wait until late June to ship 2 books that I could buy locally, because a mini you knew would sell out is not fully stocked, then that is a little backwards as well. On top of that one of the books that was showing, when I ordered, as "In Stock" then showed as "waiting for shipment", then showed as "ready to ship" and now shows as "waiting for shipment" AGAIN. If you can't ship my stuff in reasonable amount of time please say so. I will buy it locally.

My order is finally showing "Ready to Ship" after 7 days. This for products all listed when ordered as "In Stock".

My previous order also took nearly 2 weeks to arrive, and I even paid for expedited shipping. Paizo's range of products is impressive. Their service, so far, is not.

The quarterstaff/flurry of blows example in the PHB uses ONLY the flurry ability (8th lvl +5/+5/+0) and completely ignores the 2 weapon/double weapon aspects of the staff. The only choice available to the monk is which of the 3 strikes is with staff versus unarmed.

Thanks Bocklin. That's how I understood it, just wante dto clarify.

The 2 abilities/feats are incompatible. The 2 weapon fighting entry says "If you wield a second weapon in your off hand...". Monks using unarmed strike and/or flurry of blows do not have an "off hand". The same is true when using special monk weapons. If it helps, think of flurry as a special monk-only version of 2 weapon fighting.

We have a regular game , usually in Venice, sometimes Sarasota. Typically play Sunday afternoon into early evening.

There's a book called "Monster" published by AEG that has a good section on Gnolls and many other humanoid monsters. I used it to run a campaign built around a Gnoll/Elf war. my players loved it.

I've done something similar to Sehanine. Used Excel, only have magic items "done" so far (done is funny because of constant updates). I've added d100 assignments to all tables, including minor, medium and major breakdowns to aid in random treasure generation. Plan to do Feats next, spells I'm less concerned with. If my players can't find a spell they can't use it.
