Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Lorenzo

A special assignment? I swear he gets one field assignment and now he thinks he's a superhero or something. Well when you see him next let him know I got us both tickets to the Max-Tech Fair next month. I hear that John Johnson himself is revealing some new technology. Anvil Industries will be our number one rival of course and given the rash of new tech they've released recently they'll be tough to beat.

Don't worry, Pach, I got you one too. She tosses you a laminated passcard with the stylized convention name, Max-Tech, written on the front.

Well have fun slaving away for Dr. Cobalt. I've got to split. And with that she hops on the second elevator and you are alone with your thoughts.

Lorenzo

As the elevator doors open, you are rushed by a very flustered Marrissa.

Pach! I was looking for you at lunch. Are you avoiding me?

Without even letting you catch your breath she continues, I have been looking for Baker everywhere and I thought you might know something about it? He disappeared after that fiasco at the Sphinxonium and I haven't seen him since! That's when I saw the "Baker-Bot" you had setup to deflect incoming e-mails.

Seeing your apprehension she reassures you, Don't worry about it, I've been covering for him downstairs too. But I don't like people keeping things from me. And frankly it isn't the same down their without you or Baker. All I've got to talk to is that stupid Marco guy. Did you know he stood me up?! For the Roxx Falls concert!

I was snooping around the R&D labs because I know baker likes to come here when he wants to be alone. But I don't have a badge to get in... She peers over your shoulder apparently thinking he'd been hiding behind you in the elevator.

Marrisa shakes her head at the craziness of the situation. Baker, if you're done making friends, we've a report to write. You know our boss. If it's not on his desk bright and early tomorrow morning...

I should probably give Scott a break. He does look pretty awful. Probably got trampled running away from the action. I really hope Risen Fate is okay. ♡

As you fly Marrisa down, the extra weight shifts a little, sending spiderwebs of pain up and down your side. Her hand comes away slick with blood.

You're hurt! Forget about me! You need to get seen to. At least let me dress your wounds. There's a medkit in the back of my car. *slight blush*

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Risen Fate, you fly yourself and Marrisa to the roof easily outpacing the poison gas. You free her and notice she's lacking the "smile" associated with the gas. She coughs a little but otherwise seems unharmed. She blushes a little as she stammers out a reply.

I..uhm..okay. I mean I'm fine. Thank you. That security guard grabbed me after I called my partner...I mean ..friend ...you know platonic friend. Then the gas and...uhm...

She backs away a step and takes a single deep breath. I'm single! I mean, I'm Marrisa. Who are you? I-I mean if it's not a secret or anything... just your superhero name or...whatever.

Baker, Madelyn, and Emit all disappear to go change leaving Marrisa with the ruggedly handsome "middle-eastener".

Marrisa lets out a disgusted sigh. Typical. Well David, looks like it's up to us chickens. She grabs Mr. Metzger's arm and and drags him forward to greet the mayor.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Marrisa walks towards you three. She is wearing a stunning black velvet dress with matching gloves. Baker, Tex says he's got that little surprise ready.

Seeing the various law enforcement officials leaving, she raises an eyebrow at Baker. Don't tell me you smashed another priceless Ming dynasty vase? Also, weren't you going to get changed?

Baker:
If you want to play off your "can change into any costume at will" as lucky happenstance for this situation, then give me a Perception check in the men's restroom.

She shakes hands with Emit and "Joe". I'm Marrisa Porter, Baker's partner from RoboCorp.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker's Phone:
We just finished a quick system diagnostic. The system seems clean. There is one funny thing though...The HoloCore is apparently outputing more power than it's using. I think we should shut down the Descent before more people get hurt. I can put up a very basic sandstone hallway so it won't look any different to an outside viewer. We don't want to start a panic.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker or Perception DC 18:
Hey Baker, totally saw you lose your head there. *snicker* We're tuning down the difficulty a bit for your next attempt. We weren't sure how high to set the difficulty for the average tourist. Let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary.

In the background you hear, Teeexxx...stop it, I've got work to do. *giggle*

I think the workshop we are in is connected to the final exhibit. Still got that Portable Diagnostic Scanner with you?

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
Yea, no problem. Marissa puts away the spare gauze and eye drops. Boss called, he says we need to stay here to monitor the situation. Seems the entire office is in an uproar over the research lab incident still.

You should go take a tour when they start at 11. I don't think Mr. Louvre will mind and you can get first hand view of what's going on. I'll monitor the HoloCore inside the workroom with Tex.

You detect a faint smile on her lips when she mentions that last part.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
Tex!! I told you to take it easy! Marissa scolds as she enters the room.

Tex is given no chance to argue as Marissa drags him back to the bench and promptly begins applying first aid.

Treatment: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 51d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 231d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 211d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Hold still! Tex keeps fidgeting while Marissa attempts to give First Aid. Finally, Marissa uses a hypospray on his neck. He immediately begins to relax and she is able to dress his wounds.

Leaving him on the bench she heads over to you a few minutes after you're done rebuilding the HoloCore. You take 2/5 of an hour so you take 24 minutes only

You're done already? Are you sure you realigned the stabilizers correctly? That miraculous short in the stabilizer subsystem will play havoc with its capabilities if not properly aligned. She examines your work only to have a puzzled expression on her face.

That's...good work. I'm impressed. She notices that you are still holding your head as if dazed. Oh, that flash seems to have some lingering affects. Here let me treat that for you.

Her hands are soft and she smells of that nice perfume you like. She pokes you in the ribs if you try to move around too much.

Treatment: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 The dazed condition has been removed.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
Marissa cautiously approaches the downed HoloCore and pokes it with her PDS. Satisfied that it's out of commision she hands you the PDS.

Better get started, sir. The museum tours start in an hour and you've got a lot of work cut out for you. I'm going to see to Tex.

Marissa helps Sean up and sets him down on nearby bench. His sixguns are nowhere to be seen. Oh, that burn looks bad. Sit right there and let me go get a medical kit. The company always stocks one in the car. Marissa hurries out of the room.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
Marissa takes cover behind a metal and glass display case housing a preserved mummy.

Stop yelling random paradoxes at it, Scott! This isn't some Star Voyage episode where spouting them will cause the evil robot to explode!

Seeing Tex being hurled backwards, Tex! Don't be a hero! Get behind some cover! Who gave it military hardware anyways?

She is desperately trying to make heads or tails of her Portable Diagnostic Scanner's readings.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
NNNGHH...

Marissa reels back from the overwhelming light display. She seems stunned.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
Here are the chips...sir. She gives you that "I-know-I'm-in-charge-but-I'll-let-you-think-you-are" look that women do so well.

Marissa attaches a third ID chip to Tex's shirt. He's right, if you tried a hard reformat, the FX 3000 would have resisted your controls. Although I've never heard of one causing burns before...

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
The director, Archibald Louvre, wants us to speak to Sean Mathers. He's apparently acting head technician since the last one left a month ago. She sighs. It looks like we've got our work cut out for us.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
None that I'd tell you, Captain Klutz. She smirks at you in a way that lets you know she's teasing.

Anyways, we're here. Try not to embarass me ok? She grabs the hefty instruction manuals for the HoloCore FX 3000 and her Portable Diagnostic Scanner from the back seat. Hope you don't mind carrying the spare parts kit? She barely waits for your reply and says, Didn't think so. Time's a-wastin, let's go.

Just realized I forgot to give you the info vs. Ithran's dodgy question about his age. He is hiding something from you and the truth of that answer (which you were unable to determine) makes him uneasy.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
That's cool too.

*15 minutes of awkward silence later*

I've been meaning to ask you, did the Sphinxonium ever forgive you for breaking that million year old vase or what? Should I be concerned that they're going to arrest you or something?

As she asks you this question, the marble columnades of Maximum City's museum comes into view.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
Oh, you heard that did you? Jeez...it's like my hometown. Can't say anything without it being gossip within minutes.
Yea, Marco seems like a nice guy. And Rox Falls is a-maze-ing. Have you heard? Their new album comes out next Monday but they say they'll be playing their new song, Earthquake, at the concert. I have two pirated copies already. What kind of music are you into?

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
Yes, but I'm driving. She takes the keys from your hand. You haven't driven in how long? And I'm not about to put the company car in your hands. So it's my car.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
As you enter the elevator, you turn to see Marrisa staring at you expectantly. Seems you had just asked you a question.

Awareness DC 15:
She just asked you which car to take, yours or hers.

Female Human I.T. Systems Administrator

Baker:
Rox Falls! How'd you get tickets! I heard they'd all been sold out!

There is a moment of silence as she hesitates.

Ok, just let me rearrange my schedule with Tracy to get Friday off. What time should I expect you?
