Hey folks - please check-out a new offering by Ravenlore press - Midnight in Mogheim! Because this is our first FULL product and AP, we are making it available at the low introductory price of only $9.99 (for 115 pages!) for the PDF.

Its a system-neutral mini-setting and adventure path for our World of Ark setting, but easily ports into any other settings as well (its an island). For example, in Golarion, you could place it just SW of the Land of the Linnorm Kings. Or you could just adapt the AP alone to that PF kingdom, and it would fit fine.

If you like gritty, folklore-esque flavor in a Norse-like setting, then this is for you. All future products for the World of Ark setting will have this same, dark atmosphere, and we plan a series of modular mini-settings that you can use anywhere, or they could be the basis for your own, home-brewed world! Each is self-contained, much like the old Mystara (OD&D) Gazeteers, and we plan to support every one of our products moving forward, adding more content through a series of articles, stories, and adventures.

So check us out, and let us know what you think. We want to know what gamers want - we are gamers ourselves - and appreciate any feedback you care to give. If you would rather wait for a physical copy of MaM, we should have that set-up and available within the next few days, and we appreciate your patience.

Cheers - Mark Taylor

And I suppose Bahamut as well, although I realize thats specifically a D&D creation.

I wasn't sure if they were OGL or not.

On maps of Osirion, I see Xefon-Ra, and also the 'Pyramid of Doom' - anyone know what these are?

(and don't say "the second one is a pyramid" lol)

EDIT: Oh, and The Klarwa Fountain

Anyone know what this is?

First time the Wiki has let me down.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So I was gluing together some maps today, just to get a feel for some things. What I used were the Iobaria, Brevoy, and River Kingdoms maps. With a little creative painting I manged to get a decent end-result (a couple of rivers were a bit off, etc). What I noticed is that Iobaria stretches the map waaaay east.

So I decided to take all of that and paste it onto the Golarion (Inner Sea) Campaign Map, and then take that and paste it over the (icky) world map (which I realize isn't accurate - its merely representational).

So after a bit more painting - large color-swaths where the terrain was missing, over the underlying world map - I notice there is a LOT of land to the East of Taldor - why have they never expanded in that direction? Whats over there, between them and the Castrovin Sea? There is approximately 700+ miles until you reach water, which is nearly double the width of Taldor itself.

I assume that there is much desert to the East of Qadira, but it looks like rolling plains east of Taldor. You would think Qadira would have tried to expand into that area as well, if not for the territory, then just for its strategic value when they are fighting Taldor.

Red Aegis Kickstarter

Wasn't sure where to put this, but I figure it would be of some interest to fans of Golarion/PF because at the $30K stretch-goal, the product will include a Hacker's guide written by Stephen Radney MacFarland, making it compatible with the PF system.

At its heart its an RPG wherein you play a dynasty, rather then a single character. Each 'episode' will work just like an ordinary RPG session, but you play a descendent of your last character each time (so you are always someone different in each session, but because of bloodlines, many things will hold-over from previous sessions). Unlike most RPGs, though, this one will have a beginning and an end: there will be a set number of sessions (10 being the default as of right now), but you can play with more or less - its YOUR call!

This allows players to play-through the history of their world, touching on all the important turning points: You will take your family from discovering fire, to settling the stars. At its core there is the world of Namarune (map by the brilliant Mike Shley), and your group will play one of the many tribes as its rises in civilization. However, the basic core rules and concept can be applied (overlayed) onto any RPG, and the first such they intend to do is the wildly popular PF system. Theoretically, you could play the Red Aegis game right up to the start of the current Golarion time period, where your regular game begins. The 'end game' is some dramatic turning point in history - the death of Aroden would make a perfect apocalyptic event to end your story-arc (as would so many others). Folks interested in running a campaign moving through the history of Golarion will be able use the Red Aegis campaign rules on top of the normal PF rules.

However, the Hacker's Guide that will make this all possible will only become available (written by one of PF's own designers!) if the $30K stretch goal is reached - lets help make this possible.

I ordered something back on Jan. 22, and I still haven't gotten it. It just says 'pending'. I assume its out-of-stock, and I've been pretty patient (the item still indicates "usually ships within 2-6 business days").

Now, I understand these things happen, and I haven't had any trouble on other items I've ordered in the past. In fact, with the exception of some wrinkly pages in one of the books, I've been pretty satisfied thus far.

So my question is, at what point should I just cancel my order and seek other avenues? Its an older item - I am trying to replace a lot of books I lost in a house fire - predating Paizo itself, and I think that might be part of the problem here.

Any advice/assistance you can give me is much appreciated.

If this is a stupid question (or one that has been beaten to death on other threads) please excuse my naiveté (I am sort-of new to Golarion, but PF not-so-much).

I was just going through the god section of the Inner Sea Guide (my favorite purchase at Gencon) and I was just wondering if we have been given any sort of hints as to his fate?

Another deific question, which may or may not be related: Who is/was 'the father' of Shelyn and Zon-Kuthon?

If there were threads that discussed these things at length, then a simple push in the right direction would be great - thanks.

So, after hearing all about the horrible Forgotten Realms CG that came out two days ago, me and some other posters over at WotC have been picking the thing apart, and listing all the mistakes (like one on every page). The thing reads like a half-baked, unfinished piece of crap, and the Map looks like vomit.

And I made that opinion known.

So now I go to log on over there, and I get a message saying I've been banned.

You want to know the funny part? The message included a link that would allow me to see the reason I was banned, but when I click on it, it tells me I can't view the page because I've been banned!

Too funny :D

I suppose they finally decided to get rid of all the 4e-detractors from their site... I guess it was about time.

So I was reading about the new Warlocks in FR, and I stumbled across this little gem - they use Shardsouls!

Since my 'main' on WoW is a Warlock, I know I use Soulshards all the time - its like they just copy and pasted WoW fluff into FR (and it wouldn't be the first time).

They could have at least thought of a slightly less derivitive name for those things.

Any thougths about the complete lack of creativity being poured into the new FR, or D&D in general these days?

Okay, yesterday morning I got a particularly nasty and prolific virus (some sort of brand-new Trojan Horse), and manage to nip it in the bud, but not before the thing piled about 500 spyware apps onto my machine. Today my AVG anti-virus reconized it and removed BOTh vopies of it - yesterday irt couldn't even see it, so I assime their was something in today's update that covered this new one.

Anyhow, I also notice yesterday several of my regular sites were inaccessable, and today sevral more are down. I don't know if its just a coincidence, but if this little bugger is spreading all over the internet right-now it could be the cause.

I'm pretty ccomputer-savy, so I was able to stall the problem until my anti-virus was able to handle it, but this thing downloads NEW malware andreplicates existing apps (I had twenty copies of each of my regular background-apps running, sucking all my resources dry, and making my 'virus-hunt' slow down to a crawl). It also does both these things at an incredible rate - in about an hour my computer (a VERY powerful machine) was nearly crippled by it.

So - I don't know if the sudden drop-out of my sites is just a coincidence, or what, but I think everyone should be aware of this thing - MOST especially the Paizo tech boys (or girls).

Also it renames itself if you try to delete it - it started out as ttxfl.dll, but it could be hiding as anything at this point. AVG called it 'generic Trojan B.********'' - I don't know what all the '*' were, but this thing doesn't even have an official name, I gather.

So far, I seem to be okay since AVG did its thing this morning....

Were there any?

I've seen a few that were applicable (about jungle/rainforest settings), but I'm not sure if it was ever covered in it's own feature, like campaign classics?

Someone said there was a 3e version of the Eagle Knight in one issue, but I can't seem to locate it.

Thanks --- Mark.

Another thread here had me come up with an idea for the Monk. Like the Ranger who has two choices of paths to follow (2-Wep or Ranged), how about a similar choice for Monks at level 4?

This would represent differnet fighting styles, at its most basic - A Monk could choose between defensive style and attack style, just by applying his/her AC Bonus column to attacks instead. This would put him on-par with an equal-level ftr for hitting, but leave them far more vulnerable.

We could even have a Feat that would allow them to switch-back for the duration of a single encounter, which would emulate learning an alternate style as well (or even one that splits the bonus, for mixed styles).

In a way, its like using the AC Bonus points similar to what has been done with the Cleric's Turning ability, by opening it up to other possibilites. I'd love to see more options open up for simulating styles of combat for the Monk class, and using the AC bonus might be a good way to go.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I'm sure this must have been broached before, but since I'm fairly new and don't see any discussion about it, I was wondering - Is Paizo just "re-doing" all the stuff in the 3.5 books?

I've become a Paizo/Pathfinder fanboy (Paizon?) over the past few weeks, and I love what they've done so far with the rules, but have they considered adding anything of their own, like a new class or race?

I'd love to see a 'Tinker' class in the core book. I know that some folks don't want any sort of 'Steampunk' feel in their games, but many settings do have at least a small amount of psuedo-tech, and it would be cool if Pathfinder tried to at least address some of those settings (like WoWRPG and Iron Kingdoms). For die-hard purists, the class could just be optional.

Even if that idea doesn't go over big, were there any non-WotC classes even considered for the PRPG? I suppose a psion-type would require a seperate rulebook, but some sort of 'Blademage' might be cool as well.

As far as race goes, as long as it isn't a 'not-quite-human' race like the splat-books were filled with (Illumians?!), I could enjoy it. Perhaps another race would best be left for the Canmpaign guide?

If it counts at all, something like the Lionmen from Monte's stuff would be awsome. As an old-school Flash Gordon fan, I just love those guys! (Any sort of 'cat-race' would probably go over big)

Think about all the archtypes - Ookla the Mok, Chewbacca, the Kzin form Larry Niven's novels... Large, hairy, fanged dudes with bad tempers are very popular!

I have been recommending Paizo and Pathfinder to tons of people the last few weeks, and the first thing they see when they log onto the message boards is a list of cancellations!

Is that really the first thing you want potential new customers looking at?

Either move the Customer Service forum to the bottom of the page, or have a 'cover page' that directs people to the correct forum (without the lists of threads).

I personally prefer the cover-page concept - I hear lots of complaints about the difficulty in navigating this site, so a cover page with a 'site map' would do wonders. Also, I like the minimalist approach to the boards themselves, but you could 'spruce up' that first page, perhaps with some Paizo art? Its the one and only thing WotC has over you guys - their Internet presence is far more attractive.

Just about every other company in the industry has a cool 'splash page' - just check out Privateer Press, or Games Workshop. You guys have geat art and minis, so why not flaunt it?

Eye Candy is what gets people interested in this day and age, and this site is like the Saharra desert when it comes to visuals. A lot of the people I have directed here took one look and never came back.

I know he is currently playtesting the rules, but is there any chance Paizo can scoop this valuable resource up for some design work as well?

The man's FR work is second only to Ed's (and it's a REALLY close call there), so having him onboard, either for setting-work or module creation would be huge gain for Paizo, I would think.

I'm sure there is still some undeveloped corner of Golarion you guys can spare for an 'old master'.

And besides, he's the last of the 'old gaurd' you guys have't thrown a bone yet. ;)

I'm brand new to the Pathfinder experience, having decided to 'let go' of my love of FR finally and try new things. I want to know more about the setting before I "take the plunge", so what should I be looking out to give me a basic overview of the world and it's premise?

Is there something I can see for FREE, like an synopsis of the upcoming campaign guide, or perhaps some descriptive text here on the site. I just want to know what the 'theme' is really, and maybe a couple of facts, nothing too extensive.

As it is now, I know absolutely nothing beyond the fact that I was exremely happy with Paizo's run with both Dungeon and Dragon magazines, and I miss them very much.

So, what would you guys recommend for a total newb as a 'primer'?
