Another player in my epic group has used Astral Projection to do just that. We looked over the rules because it seems pretty crazy, but it hasn't broken the game yet. In fact, its a disadvantage in some cases, becuase a successful dispell will put you out of commision. Also, we have ruled that if your projected body is killed, any items that you aquired wile projecting are left when it fades.
