First of all, I really appreciate all of the comments and insights that so many have shared in this thread - thank you all! So as my players are nearing the north end of the city, and facing Gamigin for the first time (the paladin is out of Smite Evil, so it should be a tough fight), I would like some input on the following idea before I implement it near the big finale at the Pinnacle... We have a large party as some of the players can't make every game (we play just once a month, and have gone through RotRL over the course of several years now). So one of the players took the Leadership feat to gain a cohort, and has over 60 followers. After the Vekker cabin, they wisely realized they shouldn't take all of the followers into Xin-Shalast, and left most of them to resupply at Guiltspur, and then come back to the cabin, while the main party sought out Xin-Shalast. They left behind over 30 followers and their mounts, along with a young ward they saved back in Chapter 3, and one of the PC's (the bard) that has missed the last several games, and has said he likely won't complete the campaign. So my question is this - since one of the PC's has been wearing a Sihedron medallion for months, is it reasonable to assume that Karzoug knows about the followers that were left behind, and to have Ceoptra send either a rune giant or Ghlorofaex to kill most of the followers and bring back a few survivors (like the PC and the young ward) to hold captive at area 17 (Chamber of Anima Focus)? That way, when the PC's come to assault the chamber, she can give them an ultimatum of surrender, or kill their companions. I imagine that creates quite a pickle for the paladin, especially after one of the wardens of wind dumps out a sack of two dozen heads on the floor. Is this too evil, or too disheartening for the PC's? I figure that Karzoug would do SOMETHING as the evil villain to stack the odds in favor of his minions. Any thoughts or advice?
My party is full of fighter-types, and I was thinking in the Halls of Wrath, that Highlady Athroxis might see in one of them a worthy opponent (she is LE after all). Considering there are seven of them (an unholy number?) she might offer them a one-on-one duel in lieu of attacking the party on sight. If they win, she agrees to their terms and keeps the demon "from devouring their souls"; and if she wins, one of them agrees to stay with her and help repopulate the ranks of Wrath (assuming the party kills all 15 Warriors of Wrath). I'm not certain that one of the party would be able to defeat Athroxis 1-on-1, but it seems more rational than her trying to take on seven adventurers since she has been monitoring their activities in the Halls. 5 of the 7 are 12th or 13th level (a ranger, paladin, fighter, barbarian and rogue/duelist). Has anyone used such an alternate tactic before, or does everyone go full-on assault?
According to the Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide (original, not 20th Anniversary Edition), a bladed scarf is a reach weapon. That's why I was wondering what was the point of the Elasticity magus arcana in Varisia: Birthplace of Legends.
Thanks everyone for the posts; that gives me plenty to work with, and material to look for. I love the SAMCRO reference (meaning Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original). Great, but tragic series.
I have not read much about Golarion in general, so I need some help rationalizing Event 7 from Raiders of the Fever Sea. What are all these Chelish, Rahadoumi and other merchant ships doing in the Fever Sea? Trade routes? Is there something about the Eye of Abendego that attracts ships from such northern kingdoms/empires? Or are the new pirates expected to head up to the Arcadian Ocean to raid? Any advice would be appreciated.
What factors were they looking at? I would think that food would be a major consideration. I don't see many restaurants within walking distance (Spencer's Steaks looks fairly pricey at $$$$). I love the airport location though as I will be flying in from San Diego again. But the access to shopping and restaurants last year was pretty awesome! Just my two cents. Thanks!
Is it safe to assume that any Kreeg ogres that fled Fort Rannick due to the PC's defeating Jaagrath and displaying his head for all to see (the bard scored a '40' on his Intimidate skill check, including the +15 bonus for the severed head), would head back to the Hook Mountain Clanhold? Or would they fear Barl's wrath for failing to hold the Fort?

Yes, they could definitely use a 2nd bartender! LOL But totally agree that the Coast staff handled us very well considering the size of the hotel and the number of gamers. Loved the iced water pitchers in every game room - that was a really nice addition for a 5-hour game session. I would love to see the Con get bigger and turn into an even grander event! I'm hoping more of my players and fellow GM's show up next year - San Diego represent! Make mine Paizo!
