Good gaming, see you all in future adventures.

I'll be keeping my eye out for a Giantslayer starting at Book 2.

Inactive

I concur with that assessment.

"Don't just stand there! Do something! Someone grab the bucket of fish guts to distract the crocs!" Malthu shouts all this to the crew in Orcish. Intimidate?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Malthu starts heading toward the galley, hoping someone will be carrying the guts up to him, and hoping the other crew members do something useful.

Inactive

Shoot, I need to read my spells more carefully. Is Yver's rope throw good enough or do we need to throw more ropes because Oorug failed? Is there anything nearby I can chuck to distract the crocodiles?

Inactive

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

"Well, crap." Malthu moves forward, drawing a fine silver dagger in one hand. The other clutches his holy symbol of Iomedae as he calls for a prayer to keep the crocodiles at bay.

Daze, Will DC12 to daze the crocodile nearest to Oorug.

Inactive

Seems like the PCs have posted. Is that the end of Day 1 of our travels?

Inactive

"Haven't worked with fish before, but I've done good work cuttin' up meat in my day. It's gotta be pretty similar, right"

Malthu tries to help the cook . . .
Prof (butcher)?: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Inactive

Malthu happens to have points in Profession (butchering). It isn't exactly cooking, but it's related. Any chance he could use that to help with cooking checks, even if it has to be at a slight penalty?

Inactive

K. Nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16.

"Look at that old horse o'er there. He ain't afraid like the other ones. He can handle himself in a fight."

After dropping off his stuff and claiming a bunk, Malthu tries to figure out how to be useful. [b]"What kinda work ya need doin' on this ship?"

Inactive

Cool, let's get on the boat and get sailing!

Inactive

"That's the spirit!" agrees Malthu.

Inactive

Malthu shrugs. He wasn't going to fight with the captain any more. "Sounds good to me, come on, let's get goin'!"

Inactive

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

"Wait, what?" Malthu looks to Tuva, then to Raad, then to Tuva again. He seems surprised that she is a half-orc. "You're Halgra's daughter? I didn't know she had such good taste in orcs! Name's Malthu. You really coming on this boat? This ain't no pleasure cruise," he says, echoing the captain's words.

Inactive

As the orc starts walking away, Malthu realizes how screwed they probably are without this so-called ship.

"Alright, alright! We'll do it, Captain. I can climb and I know how to prepare meat. And all of us can fight if your so-called safe passage turns out to have some holes in it."

Inactive

Sounds like we can just skip it and save you the trouble.

Inactive

Hey GM Fuzzfoot!

I defer to the group. I don't really play PFS (though I do have a couple of characters). Do I need to pick a character to apply the credit to?

Inactive

Malthu is duly impressed with the half-orc's display, but tries not to show it.

"What? You want us to work as sailors? If ya want us ta be workin', ya best be payin' us! We're the heroes of Trunau! Or have ya not heard that? Bet that ain't the story the humans are tellin'."

He takes a few strides forward. "Name's Malthu. And this here's Yverstrix and Grod. And there's --" Malthu looks around for a bit. "Shivarra? Where'd that witch go?"

Inactive

Sure, let's do it.

Inactive

"Passengers!" shouts Malthu back. "Heard we could get a ride outta town with Raag Bloodtusk."

As he takes in the collection of spare parts they're calling a boat, he whispers to the others. "What is that thing. Ya think it can even float? Or are them horses gonna drag us along from the river bottom?"

Inactive

I'm fine with a DMPC. Though I do think there is a lot of role overlap since she would be a third Barbarian. It's perfect that she's a half-orc, though.

Inactive

Bring it.

Inactive

Agreed--good call.

Shivarra, are you still around? Didn't we already deduct gold for a CLW wand.

Inactive

After making some purchases, Malthu seems eager to depart. "Guess it's time to be the unappreciated heroes of Trunau again," he says, knowing that their mission was borne of mixed motivations.

Inactive

And I finally sat down to do my math, and have 3,429.25 gp to spend, which I will do now.

Scabbard of Vigor
Mwk Greataxe
Resist Energy Communal Scroll
See Invisibility Scroll
Comprehend Languages Scroll
Remove Paralysis Scroll
Obscuring Mist Scroll
Spring-Loaded Wrist Sheath x2
Cold Iron Javelin x3
334.05 gp remaining (this includes 29.8 gp I had previously)

The 1500 is a group award? If so, I'm thinking, given where we're going, a wand of MM and a wand of CLW might be a good use

Healing wand is good--I don't remember if we accounted for that yet. A wand of magic missile is pretty darn slow at dealing damage, and I don't know if any of us have access to the spell. Getting lucky with weapon hits is probably what we'll need to rely on. Scroll of Resist Energy Communal, set to resist Electricity, should slow down the damage they can deal to us.

Inactive

I still need to sort out my previous shopping, but don't have anything particular in mind for now, except to ask Shivarra to prepare glitterdust? Malthu might use some of his gold to purchase a Scroll of Resist Energy Communal, a Level 3 scroll.

Inactive

"As long as we can still see the wisps, can we still hit 'em with a hammer or axe?"

Not sure how to deal Str damage effectively . . . maybe Ray of Enfeeblement if that works against Will o' Wisps.

Inactive

Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

"So yer tellin' me the four o; us gotta take a riverboat up ta find a vault o' stuff n' then attack a hill giant chieftain? Yer sure yer not just tryin' ta get rid o' us?" he says to Halgra half-jokingly.

He thinks on the strange myths he'd heard in his time as an initiate of the Sanctuary. "Hey Silvermane, seems ta me yer not tellin' me all there's to know. I been around here enough to know that the will-o'-wisps yer talkin' about are the souls o' the druids o' the Council o' Thorns. And you used ta be one o' them. So basically yer tellin us ta kill one o' yer old buddies and shove him into this lantern. Yer sure there ain't a better way ta do this? And if we're really doin' it, what's the best way ta fight them things?"

Inactive

Looks like Yver can handle this on his own!

Inactive

Finally gaining his wits back, Malthu faces the crowd to get them to back down. "He's confessed, now we're gonna get the info we need ta get some payback. Y'all want that, right? So BACK OFF!"

Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Inactive

Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
The normally quick-thinking warrior fails to respond as the mob descends on the apparent half-orc spy.

Inactive

Picking himself off the ground, Malthu is pretty pissed off when he finally shows up, alongside the crowd! He seems ready to be one of them who puts the half-orc to the noose.

"Listen, dirtbag. We didn't save you so you could scram and dirty our name. You tell us what you know, then we decide what to do with you."

Intimidate (aid): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Inactive

While he's on the ground, is Malthu able to see the guy's tracks?
Survival, tracking: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

He's a little worried the half-orc pulled a very clever one and broke the window without leaving his room.

Inactive

Acrobatics DC15: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 Not my day.
Damage?: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Let me know if it's more than a 10 foot fall, and feel free to roll the damage for me.

"$hit." is all Malthu can manage to say as he crashes into the ground on his side. He gets back up if possible.

Inactive

As Grod busts through the door, Malthu heads to the window, and looks to climb down after the half-orc.
Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Inactive

And as soon as he hears the broken glass Malthu tries to bust in the door. "Frick, someone go cut him off!"

Strength check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Oh man, that was lame.

Inactive

At this point, Malthu is way too suspicious, even if it's unfair. "I don't think so, you best open up this door before I bust it open!" Not liking what he's hearing, he tries to open the door. If that doesn't work, slams the door hard, as if to prove he could knock it down if he wants to. Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 Lame. Someone else wanna try?

Inactive

"Well, I'm thinkin' Shivarra wants some more sleep. I want some more sleep too, come to think of it. Lemme just try ta chat with this half-orc, and see what he's about."

Giving up his idea of shadowing the guy, Malthu is content to knock on his door. "Hey, listen, I think we'd better talk about what just happened out there," he says.

Inactive

Eh, the weird part is that he didn't stop to thank us or explain himself. The armor bit is ambiguous but lends some trivial support.

We could also talk to him, I thought shadowing him seemed better because he doesn't seem to want to talk.

Inactive

"Somethin's not right about the whole thing, ta be honest. Could be that the humans were onta somethin', even though they did it the wrong way. The guy never said he was innocent, and he was wearin' leather armor I think. The townsfolk still want him out tonight? Maybe we keep tabs on this half-orc when he leaves . . . just in case."

Inactive

Malthu is a bit startled as the half-orc flees. "How's that for gratitude? Funny how he just ran off, isn't it?" He tries to judge why the half-orc fled. Was it because he was unfairly persecuted or was it because the humans were onto something?

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Inactive

Malthu sees the townsfolk messing with an ordinary-looking half-orc and doesn't like it. "Hey, what's goin' on here? Why d'ya say he's a spy? Are ya sayin' all half-orcs are spies? Ya best not be sayin' that!" Malthu stares in coldly at the humans, challenging them to show their proof.

Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Inactive

Trusting the care of Katrezra's body to others, Malthu hurries over, armed but unarmored, trying to get his bearings. He looks to find his companions. "I heard there's trouble, what's goin' on?"

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Inactive

"What? He's dead?!" Malthu's jaw drops. "No . . . Katrezra saved my life. He took me in when nobody else would . . . "

He lets out a long sigh. "I need to see him. I'll spend tonight in the Sanctuary, and pray for Iomedae's blessing for his soul. I can catch up with you all tomorrow."

Inactive

"Come on, we can walk and talk. Anyone seen Katrezra? I'm worried about the old man."

Corsario wrote:

You have to know I like my adventures "movie-like". This is the end of Chapter one, so it is somewhat "end of movie-ish". Celebration, recognition, the whole 9 yards.

But don't worry, the 2nd chapter will start shortly, and you will get banished from the town in no time! :D

Wait, what?

Getting crushed at work, better posting will come next week.

Inactive

"If you guys have the walls secure, we could use some rest. And some restoration along with healing--we ran into a bunch o' shadow rats that were drainin' me and Yver real good."

We each took some strength damage previously, and getting some restoration would be beautiful.

Malthu looks to Kurst. "I'm thinkin' Rodrik started sniffin' out this tomb himself, which is why they went after him. But he pro'lly got the orcs to attack too soon. It weren't no suicide. He died a hero."

Inactive

Yep, I'm ready. Hopefully Corsario checks in shortly.

Inactive

CLW sounds fine, I hear what you're saying about timeliness.

Inactive

The party will get a Wand of Infernal Healing.

Malthu buys a masterwork greataxe, a cloak of resistance +1, a pair of spring-loaded wrist sheathes, and some javelins.

There's probably some leftover gold to buy other items, which I will contemplate when work is not quite as crazy.

Ready to go!
