Well, so far there are no boons that have a "THEN" series of checks on them...

I do not think that is actually possible. I thought you had to resolve any check before you started new stuff. Armor and some spells allow you to reduce damage. But healing such as cure is another spell that I would think would have to take place AFTER you take damage.

So you take damage from the hit from the monster and discard your hand as much as needed. If the only card you had was Cure I think you would have to discard it to complete the encounter. Now since you hand is empty you could not cast cure.

At least that is how I have been playing it. Otherwise Cure is one of the best damage reducing effects in the game even better then Half Plate or Arcane Armor spells.

The way you describe it was the way i was playing it until i started reading this thread.

If you get the time check it out. I'm wavering back and forth on this.

Cure doesn't reduce damage as in "reduce the damage you take." It heals you. I don't think you can play it because it just doesn't apply in this situation. You can play it before you Explore, after you move, after the encounter is over, before a second encounter, etc. But not in the middle of taking damage. Doesn't make sense.

Unless you make the choice to run slow track, every scenario gives you 1 XP and it always takes 3 XP to level.

Got it! Thanks so much again, everyone.

It was intentional to leave out multi part story arcs, especially with some of the recent ones needing to be played in order to achieve certain boons. I would rather leave those for local game days so coordinators can schedule themed game days and the like in their local areas.

Another question: how many sessions does it take to level up after the Intros? I want to gauge what level I'd be for picking further sessions.

Thanks for all the help, everybody!

The first number is the season the scenario is released in, the second number is the order in which the scenario was released by date.

So 3-21 would be Season 3 Scenario 21, which would have been released before 3-23, Season 3 Scenario 23.

You can click here to see what all the scenarios are and when they were released.

I dont believe any of those scenarios link up with an overarching story, though, aside from First Steps 1, 2, and 3.

Hope that helps!

Yes, thanks. I notice you're in Carbondale. I live in Du Quoin. I'm running Serpent's Skull on Friday nights (about every other or so). I have some guys that I game with on Saturdays. Do you run PFS at Castle Perilous? I know a young man who makes it over there on occasion (he's a regular in my Tuesday game group at the Marion Library).

If the only thing you have played with that character is First Steps parts 1 and 2, and he is still first level, then you will be happy to know I have one table of First Steps part 3 scheduled for slot 1 at Gen Con and multiple tables of it scheduled for every other slot except Slot 6. You should have plenty of opportunities to get part 3 on that character provided he is still level 1.

Once you play that part 3, your character will be level 2. 4-1 will only be one of five Tier 1-5 scenarios you can play.

You could play 3-21, 3-23 and 3-EX to get you to 3rd level. From there, you can play 4-01, 4-02, 3-24 to get to level 4. 3-06 is also available for tiers 3-7. After that, the Gen Con Special Part 1 will allow you to play with the same character if you are interested. Unfortunately, I don't think you will be able to play a 5-9 or 7-11 unless my calculations are off.

Glad you are planning to come to Gen Con. Feel free to say hi while there.

Thanks for the help!

Is there a particular storyline that the numbers follow or are they independent adventures for taking PFS characters through various levels? I don't necessarily want a campaign but several scenarios tied together is fun.

How does the numbering system work?

Last year, due to short-sighted scheduling on my part, I was ale to play the first two PFS Intro scenarios but not the third.

I'd like to use my same character this year, but not sure if I should play the third intro or jump into something else. Won't playing the third get me leveled up?

Speaking of something else, what would be the next step? The 4-1 and up scenarios? Is that the new season?

Just a bit curious on how the progression should go.

Thanks!
