Hey, hey Maelius pats Sera on the back It's okay. The man was crazy. He was screaming in some language I couldn't understand.

Mael crawls out of the other side of the caravan and takes the opportunity to load his crossbow.

After the insult Mael crawls under the wagon.
Maelius takes a full withdraw action to stumble back and try to crawl under the wagon. Aghh.. it hurts! he cries as he clutches his profusely bleeding shoulder. His ashen grey face shows how much blood he's lost and how close he is to death.

A little panicked Maelius peers out of the wagon as the man rushes to attack them. Oh Dear! Oh Dear! What have we here? A single bandit? Nothing to Fear!
Maelius plonks down a 100 gold and smiles. Easy come, Easy go.
Sporting his brand new outfit, armor, and weapon, Maelius grins wide. Yeah, I think we're pretty much ready. Don't think there's anything else left for us to do here.
Hey is it okay if I use 'fractional base bonuses' from unchained for Maelius? Instead of a 1 Bard/1 Expert having a BAB of 0 as it is currently, It means that I get a (rounded down) 0.75 BAB from Expert 1 and a 0.75 BAB from Bard 1 which is a BAB of 1.
With Rory's help and a bit of diplomatic mentioning of how Maelius helped put out a fire and save Rory's little brother the two are able to convince Hawk to part with a set of tools for a (more than) fair price.

Considering the kind of horrible things they'd seen Maelius decides to splurge on protection for himself. Another set of chain for me if you could. A bit smaller than the one for Taldo... I think Maelius grins at the blacksmith. And that small crossbow that you've got in the window if it's not just for display. And uh, what goes in them... arrows? No Bolts! Yes! 40 bolts! the young man says decisively. Moving to Keightly, Maelius picks up a package of useful things all bundled up in a convenient kit Hey look guys, I'm a ranger! and spying a small clothier at the nicer end of the street drops in to replace his really poorly kept farmer clothes with a much smarter outfit with a lot of clever pockets and sturdy boots. He also makes sure that the clothier throws in a really fancy wide brimmed hat. Finally he nudges Rory and whispers Hey.. you wouldn't know if anyone here might have a set of y'know picks and files.. you know in case we lock our stuff up and lose the key and have to get the chest back open... can't hurt to be prepared right?
300 for Sera and Maelius for sure. I think maybe we can talk to him and get 300 for Taldo?
I think a wagon is a pretty good idea. How deep do we want to get into this logistics stuff though? Taldo's calculations seem fine to me to get us to where we need to go. And the Wagon is a good idea.
Maelius is a mule person as well. So I think everybody should get a ranger's kit. Sera might want a cleric's kit instead. We can also get a riding kit per animal we buy, and a large tent for the guys and a small tent for Sera?
Maelius jaw drops. Then he grins I think I'm going to stick close to you Sera. I'm gonna need someone to speak for me when we get to the afterlife and you're turning into a full blown angel! then to Taldo. Yeah let's go. We've got a bunch of supplies to get before we head off with Rory's father.
Grateful for the end of the very very long day. Maelius collapses onto the provided mat and falls into a very deep sleep.

Maelius' jaw remains dropped even after Seraphina heads off to rest. So... I'm not the only one who saw that? Right?
How about 'Court Bard'? Mechanics wise turns the bard on it's head. Everything that was a team buff becomes an opponent debuff.
One concern I have with Sandman is that it trades out the most standard useful Bard ability for one that requires a touch attack to succeed. Maelius isn't really going to be hitting anything with a touch attack.

Sandman is a really interesting bard archetype. I'm good with it. Of course arcane casting is a no no so I'm a bit interested to see how that works in the story.
Maelius helps Taldo look for more water to help contain the fire.
While Sera looks after the boy and Taldo investigates Maelius uses his strong voice to try and rouse the neighbours to start a bucket brigade.

Maelius breaks into a grin as he takes a sip from his glass. Not to worry. I think we're getting funded pretty generously for supplies by our benefactor. Uh, actually, I don't think either Sera or I have much in the way of survival skills so... we'll need your guidance on what we should actually get

Maelius snaps his fingers. Dunne. Of course. Rory, we're looking for a man named Lore Dunne. Do you know him?
Mael turns to Taldo Hey Taldo, we need to find this Scout named Lore Dunne. Apparently he's well known and hangs out in the shady part of town? Would you know the guy or know who would?
Yeah Experts can use spears. Would make sense for Maelius. I'll take it.
Maelius and Sera have 300 each as well from what Origen gave them. Maybe Taldo can get the 300 from Osmundus?
Well Maelius scratches his head. This Lore guy seems to be famous. Maybe the Captain knows where he is. He seemed to enjoy going out with us yesterday. We might be able to get some equipment off him too? Oh dammit. Origen had the 300 gold that we were supposed to use Maelius roots about the barracks a bit seeing if there is a note or something on how to get the remainder of the money Origen had placed in a safe for them.
Glad that Sera is relieved at the actions the Forum is taking to ensure the safety of magical beings, Maelius heads out to ask Taldo what his plans are. I don't know what you want to to do Taldo but Sera and I have gotten mixed up in some Forum business. The wizard in there wants us to do some things for him and we're being paid pretty well to do it. Could you help us out? Neither of us are the fighter type. Later Maelius will find his bunk and fall into a deep sleep pretty much as soon as he hits the mattress. It had been the longest day of his young life.
Hey guys so do we go on with the original quest now?
Oh that was Taldo.. I think he wants to be a Guard. He's really strong. Killed a few beasts that were in that torture madhouse. Maelius responds. I guess we could... buy some things early tomorrow and then set out for our original mission? It would be good if Taldo could come along I think. Is that okay?
The elf lady said she would take care of it personally Sera Maelius says reassuringly as he pats the Adept on the shoulder.
