Maddie bursts forward toward the construct and swings her gauntleted fist at the glass encasing of the construct.

"I'm guessing that isn't supposed to mean it's a boring place to have a drink then? Do you think if we shout the others can hear?"

"Before I do that should we not check everything available to us?"

Maddie wanders over to Egg and if he hasn't already entered brushes past him into the room beyond.

Maddie follows behind Shechera and Meleren to the room Lanel and co are perusing. After hearing Gozrog mention toothpicks she takes a squiz at the disk.

"You'll like me a lot less if you start ignoring me, that much I guarantee. If you think I froze you're as mistaken as you claim I am. "

Maddie heads over to the handprint panel and gives it a try.

Maddie laughs"You were too busy pissin' your britches that I knew your little secret let's be honest. At the end of the day, I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than caught off guard that you were worse than assumed. Rather be apologetic than dead. Speaking of I hope we can get back out the way we came so we can get yours buried or whatever you would prefer. Hope the magic here doesn't turn 'em into more of those things." Maddie proceeds to follow after Shechera imitating her saunter.

Maddie tries to put the gauntlets on her big ol' hands. She addresses Meleren again "Seemed like you were able to tell something about these gauntlets since you reckon they are valuable. How about sharing that information? You know in the spirit of good faith cooperation."

"And I need you all to understand that these two are racing ahead trying to find something first. It's not about money for you Tatts you traveled far too far for it to be about money for you. You're here with purpose. Her and her dead mates abduct people either for ransom or worse. No other reason to carry so many of these with 'em otherwise." Manacles on her belt rattle against each other."So can we please stop treating them better than you did Brae? Selling her out like that when she's traveling alone to make a report? Now we can't even let them leave!"

Then all the noise happens.

"And now none of us can leave excellent. Alrighty then no two ways about it now we're stuck in this together. Tatts I reckon it was probably you that solved the scale test right? Help us figure this out yeah? Let's see if you're worthy to wear the same mark."

Maddie lifts a sleeve revealing her mark of the open road tattoo.

Maddie gives Lanel a disappointed look after he endangers Brae's livelihood and follows the two strangers helping themselves to our loot. After being handed the other pair of gauntlets by Meleren she says. "Amulet too. That's what we're here for and if there's any way of you two being free of us it starts with this decision." If he refuses or attempts to move away Maddie will attempt to smack him across the mouth with the gauntlet.

Remembering something Brae said earlier "So you're the supposed expelee of the Clockwork Cathedral then Tatts?"

"Considering how many of your companions have already fallen I reckon you are a failure, and that is a fair amount worse than being an amateur darlin'." Maddie glances at the tattooed man and asks him "She is speaking your way into chains. Are you okay with that Tatts?"

Maddie steps forward with a wolfish grin allowing the quarterstaff to press against her chest."You are hurt enough already. So you best start getting real friendly real fast."

Maddie walks directly across the room from where we entered.

"What's the hold up did the tracks disappear?"

Maddie's going to grab the manacles and hang them from her belt so they're accessible.

"Do any of these unfortunate corpses have that amulet? Or have orders on them like we do? I still say these are those Blood Rudders. If they have taken what we need..." Maddie slumps against the archway inspecting where she was shocked. "Don't suppose any of you lot know how to treat wounds? Stinging real bad where that wire got me"

Hearing the metallic plinks of Gozrog's armor deflect these newly deployed wires Maddie steps forward trapping a wire underfoot(the one that leads to the cyan-marked port on the slide) before dropping her torch and grabbing the wire with both hands. "Goz grab the other! We'll tie them together

Maddie will attempt to initiate a grapple dropping the lit torch and releasing her grip on the shield.

Hearing the screech of metal Maddie bursts into the room and closes into the silhouetted figure in the middle of the room. Her torch begins to illuminate the "statue". As she notices the crossbow pointed toward her companions she swings her shield at the arm holding the crossbow.

Maddie looks to see if the crossbow is attached or held and sizes up the adversary to see if she might be able to wrestle it down next.

Maddie purses her lips before speaking "I am starting to think if you have been dyed it is supposed to mean you have died. They must not have had a volunteer to test some of these contraptions. If we don't start treating this as more than training we might end up like that fella." Maddie pauses behind her two companions in front of her attempting to peer into the room over their heads. "I can't see s!+!e in there, anything interesting?

Maddie walks over to the opened lock and tries the door "Maybe whomever's tracks we're following already solved this puzzle? Wouldn't that be a stroke of good fortune after that last embarrassment?"

Maddie inspects the wicker pieces for any bladders still full of dye and will try to detach and store them in her pack. do I need a roll of any sort?

Through gritted teeth "What happened to having traps covered bookworm? We might be dead if this wasn't a training exercise. Bah" she spits dye from her mouth. "You are buying the drinks if we make it back, so help me.

Maddie prods her torch into the western wall. If she feels nothing beyond the wall she'll stick her head into the illusion.

"Sure hope these red-blooded whatevers are down here and not out there. Climbing back up this could be... It's just a training exercise, probably fine right?" Maddie grumbles as she attaches a shield to her pack securing it then pulls out a torch holding it in her teeth as she clambers down the ladder lighting it after her feet reach the floor of the redoubt once more.

"They don't make 'em like me anywhere, or shouldn't in any case. Let's leave it at that for now." Maddie's brow furrows exaggerating the asymmetry of her face. She remains quiet until Inlé mentions the machine mage. "I'd wager everything he got to make that choice for himself." Her comment radiates frustration and her grip tightens on her shield causing it to tremble.

"Bah, I need some raiders to smack. They will indeed be blood red soon enough."

A tall, broad, and burly woman carrying two shields that somehow manage to seem too big for even her frame bumbles through the crowds of Abasalom's foreign quarter. Her fire-red hair was a beacon of her approach easily spotted in a sea of humanity. The warm smile she wears across her face tries its best to make her appearance less imposing. Lifting a hand in a casual wave as she finally clears the crowd"You all got a letter too yeah? Names Maddie." She frowns briefly before continuing "I ain't much for damned puzzles, Hope one of you lot got lots of them wrinkles in yer noggin. People always tell me mine must be smooth." She chuckles the smile returning to her face.
