Macario is an average looking mouse with soft grey fur and is only unusual in that he is bipedal. He wears the common clothing of his station: robes, hat, and a pair of sturdy boots. Beyond that he has his staff, spellbooks, and some other personal effects that he carries with him.

Sophie is an adolescent Snowflake Moth whose diminutive size makes her even smaller than her master. The fluffy fur that covers her body is a natural adaption to the mountainous regions of her home.

Among the creatures of the forest Macario is largely unexceptional since the capacity for speech and thought is common among all fey. What was unique to him was his capacity for courage and wit and those traits were what led him to befriending the Lion in the past. But now, in the wake of the Harrowing, the Lion has disappeared from the forest and as a result the meaning behind his tale has begun to fade. This has spurred Macario to action, and now that same kindness he had in ancient fable carries him forward to the town of Caesure.

Macario has come from the forest to search for his friend, the Lion. In possession of unusual intelligence for an Animal Kith; Macario received a small introduction to the Arcane arts from the Ethere Court before being sent off. He chose to focus most of his arts on developing a knack for divination in hopes that it could make finding the missing Storykin easier. At the same time Macario shied away from the schools of Necromancy and Universalism, the former because of its dark nature and the latter simply because it drew too much of his attention away from his pursuit of Divination.

Uncomfortable with the normal going-ons of the world outside of the forest, Macario has spent most of his time since coming Caesure locked away in study. He, along with a few other of the more gifted Storykin, have undergone efforts using divining magic to locate their missing allies (without express of the Ethere Court of course). So far nothing has proved successful, though much of that could be attributed to the relative inexperience of the participants. Regardless he continues to work on the project undeterred as well as volunteering his services as an agent of the Court should they need him.

Macario has the heart of a true hero. He is kind and brave and treats those around him with due respect and consideration. He also possesses a sharp wit and healthy sense of curiosity that aid in his magic practice. Despite his small size he is never afraid to tackle a challenge, especially if a comrades well-being is at stake.

The Lion & the Mouse

A Lion lay asleep in the forest, his great head resting on his paws. A timid little Mouse came upon him unexpectedly, and in his fright and haste to get away, ran across the Lion's nose. Roused from his nap, the lion laid his huge paw angrily on the tiny creature to kill him.

"Spare me!" begged the poor Mouse. "Please let me go and some day I will surely repay you."

The Lion was much amuse to think that a Mouse could ever help him. But he was generous and finally let the Mouse go.

Some days later, while stalking his prey in the forest, the Lion was caught in the toils of a hunter's net. Unable to free himself, he filled the forest with his angry roaring. The Mouse knew the voice and quickly found the Lion struggling in the net. Running to one of the great ropes that bound him, he gnawed it until it parted, and soon the Lion was free.

"You laughed when I said I would repay you," said the Mouse. "Now you see that even a Mouse can help a Lion."

A kindness is never wasted.

The Lion is gone from the forest and nowhere to be found. Without him the story falls apart. Macario needs to find him to get the story back on track.
