It's still available in PDF. Also Freeport's published by Green Ronin, and it's been mentioned as possibly being in the setting so it'd be no more unlikely that Ptolus would be included because of the publisher than any other product unless the two companys have a bad relationship. You're right there will be a lot of unexplored Golarion that I could place Ptolus in (and will). However I'd like to put it somewhere we're I'm least likely to tread on any future published material. Ptolus is it's own campaign setting but is designed to be dropped into any generic "D&D" world. The reason I'd include it in the world is my group is not one that enjoys leaving characters behind after they've developed them. So Ptolus could provide a good place for some of those high level PCs to retire to. I'd like to know what other products might be included for the same reasons. I do realize that it's probably just wishful thinking on my part that Ptolus might be included. So I'VE got my reasons and that's why I'm asking.

The end result is that time can pass between adventures and the PCs have a chance to earn some extra skill points and hit points for gaining another level. Of course I want to keep these extra levels out of the formula for adventuring XP and CR calculations and such (otherwise they'd actually be penalized for taking another level of 'expert'), but I haven't quite done the math to see how gamebreaking it'd be to have a wizard 6/adept 4 acting as a level 6 character (fer instance)." Fletch,
I know each adventure path is designed to take characters from 1st to 15th level or so and then the next adventure path is designed for you to start over again with new 1st level characters. However my group doesn't necessarily play like everyone else - because if I ask them to start over with new 1st level characters they will howl. So I have several questions I'd like to get the boards input on. 1) How would you get around this problem (please no tell 'em to lump it suggestions, I'm looking for a solution that will appease everybody)? 2) Do other groups have this same attitude? 3) Does Pathfinder ever envision an adventure path that say starts at 15th level? I have some small hope that 4e might solve some of these problems but it would be nice to hear how other GMs might have handled this situation in the past. Thanks.
I have a group gearing up for an ongoing Pathfinder campaign starting in September. We'll probably play monthly and probably on Saturday nights, but we can discuss. I run a very visual campaign with lots of minis and scenery. We try and run a balanced campaign (RPing, Combat & Character development) and I try to tailor at least a little bit of each session to what each player likes best. If you're interested, please feel free to post and we can exchange contact info. Thanks for reading. |
