This sounds very interesting. I'm trying to envision the adventure. What type of scenario are you thinking of? How do you see it playing out?

Here's a question. How easy is it to keep two adult red dragons within 5' of each other? That has to be a neat trick. Maybe they can take up syncronized swimming in their spare time!

Seeing as how it's published by White Wolf and it's Monte Cook's (and now out of print on top of everythign else).. I doubt we'd see it in Pathfinder. Besides, there's enough unexplored Golarion that YOU could just include it, but Ptolus is a campaign setting onto itself, so why would you make it part of that world?

It's still available in PDF. Also Freeport's published by Green Ronin, and it's been mentioned as possibly being in the setting so it'd be no more unlikely that Ptolus would be included because of the publisher than any other product unless the two companys have a bad relationship.

You're right there will be a lot of unexplored Golarion that I could place Ptolus in (and will). However I'd like to put it somewhere we're I'm least likely to tread on any future published material. Ptolus is it's own campaign setting but is designed to be dropped into any generic "D&D" world. The reason I'd include it in the world is my group is not one that enjoys leaving characters behind after they've developed them. So Ptolus could provide a good place for some of those high level PCs to retire to.

I'd like to know what other products might be included for the same reasons. I do realize that it's probably just wishful thinking on my part that Ptolus might be included. So I'VE got my reasons and that's why I'm asking.

Just bumping this question so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. Anybody with any knowledge about this?

I'm thinking I'll have Eando Kline show up in Sandpoint, meet the PCs and offer them a simple little charting assignment which would lead to a little sidetrek adventure. The real point would be to meet Kline and so have the opportunity to get more assignments from him in the future.

Bump! Just checking. Any KC area people interested in a Pathfinder campaign?

Could you advise if Eando Kline, the Pathfinder assigned to Magnimar will be making an appearance in RotRL? I was wondering since I've been thinking about having a little side trek initiated by him or someone affiliated with him to introduce the PCs to the Pathfinders.

"An idea I've toyed with (but haven't really thought out to its full impact) is to give xp for profession or crafting skills that can be used exclusively to increase their levels in NPC classes like expert or adept. I'm pretending this is how NPCs actually gain levels without fighting kobolds, and I think it would be a nice benefit to PCs who spend the time between adventures doing "domestic" stuff.

The end result is that time can pass between adventures and the PCs have a chance to earn some extra skill points and hit points for gaining another level. Of course I want to keep these extra levels out of the formula for adventuring XP and CR calculations and such (otherwise they'd actually be penalized for taking another level of 'expert'), but I haven't quite done the math to see how gamebreaking it'd be to have a wizard 6/adept 4 acting as a level 6 character (fer instance)."

Fletch,
If you try this keep us posted how it goes. I used to run a 1st edition C&S campaign and one of the neat things about that system was you got experience for living basically. You'd get say 1ep x your level a day. I had a very slow growth path for the PCs, so the group never complained much if there were a couple of game months between episodes.

Bump...Can a guy get a little help here ;-).

I'd really like to hear some other peoples strategies if anyone has dealt with this situation. Thanks.

I know each adventure path is designed to take characters from 1st to 15th level or so and then the next adventure path is designed for you to start over again with new 1st level characters. However my group doesn't necessarily play like everyone else - because if I ask them to start over with new 1st level characters they will howl. So I have several questions I'd like to get the boards input on.

1) How would you get around this problem (please no tell 'em to lump it suggestions, I'm looking for a solution that will appease everybody)?

2) Do other groups have this same attitude?

3) Does Pathfinder ever envision an adventure path that say starts at 15th level?

I have some small hope that 4e might solve some of these problems but it would be nice to hear how other GMs might have handled this situation in the past.

Thanks.

I have both the PDF and the hard copy of RotRL. Have I just missed it or is there a calendar for the world? Will there be a timeline for the adventure paths or do you not contemplate side adventures?

I guess the long and short of it is will timeframe be important?

I have a group gearing up for an ongoing Pathfinder campaign starting in September. We'll probably play monthly and probably on Saturday nights, but we can discuss.

I run a very visual campaign with lots of minis and scenery. We try and run a balanced campaign (RPing, Combat & Character development) and I try to tailor at least a little bit of each session to what each player likes best.

If you're interested, please feel free to post and we can exchange contact info. Thanks for reading.
