Background:
While Tieflings are a relatively common sight in Cheliax, Aasimars are much more rare, and probably even more maligned than the formers. And so it was that Lythirra, even if just because of a pair of slightly pointed ears, was dropped off at an orphanage shortly after she was born. All considered, the girl was rather lucky: the proprietors of the orphanage were caring, if a little strict, and she was adopted shortly after she turned 3 years old by the Elvexa, a small noble family living in the outskirts of Egorian. They took her in did so partly in a show of philanthropy, and partly because she demonstrated an uncanny ability for singing in a choir the orphanage organized to give themselves some visibility.
Lythirra, on her part, quickly acclimated to the pampered lifestyle of a noble and, having been taught singing since a young age, lived up to expectations: after she was barely more than a teenager she was already getting minor parts in a famous opera house in Egorian. However, Lythirra slowly started to grow bored of her daily life, a numbing feeling taking over her: it was because of this that she slowly got involved more and more with the more decadent parts of Chelaxian high society, seeking something to spice up her daily life. It was in this way that she came into contact with the sparse Kuthithes living among the nobility: while first only enticed by exotic carnal pleasures to swat away at the boredom, Lythirra slowly started to embrace the Kuthite's philosophy. While Asmodeus' faith just seemed stifling to her, Zon Kuthon's twisted form of love resonated with the Azata-blooded. However, just after she had turned 23, Lythirra accidentally killed one of her partners in her over-zealousness: while her lover was no one of consequence in the high society of Egorian, he was still the son of a wealthy merchant in the city. Lythirra's family (together with some contacts she had in the church of Zon-Kuthon) managed to pull the matter under the rug to send the aasimar far away from the capital, off to far Longacre to lay low, possibly for the rest of her life. But, even if a younger her would have been devastated to have to leave behind the pomp and comfort of nobility, Lythirra quietly accepted: she had her faith now, she told herself... Now, the former opera singer has been laying low for several decades, and everyone in her family that knew her has probably passed away. Forgotten and left alone by everyone she thought had loved her, Lythirra has been trying to find respite in her faith, but the years and years of loneliness only eroded at the aasimar's soul and mind... Appearance:
Lythirra doesn't show her five decades of age: indeed, she looks like a pretty woman in the middle of her twenties. Her almost perpetually smiling face is framed by loose shoulder length black hair, looking barely older than when she arrived in Longacre three decades ago, and her piercing blue eyes tend to stare off in the distance.
Apparently cheerful but reserved, Lythirra avoids talking about her past, trying to politely change the subject if asked about it. |
