I should have gone into more detail. Kaelys was in the process of setting up her meeting with the adventurers when the ravers stole her piece. The Wizard wants to be the one to free him. So thats why he wants the Sythrael he believes that if he is the one to free him he can control him. He had not anticipated the ravers stealing the piece let alone knowing where it was. That was why he stepped up the timeline and had Kaelys contact the adventurers sooner.

I am working on personalizing the adventure as well. I decided to make Kaelys a part of a secret organization that wants to free Sythreal and use his power. The leader of this secret organization is the elf wizard that tried to free him 80 years ago when the tower fell.
