"I am so f!#$ing jealous right now," says Lort with his lower teeth protruding in a pout that any four year old would be proud of, "I love the Frozen North."

Thanks again for running, GM BS! It is indeed a shame to be disbanding, but I'm really over PFS for now. Who knows what excitement my gaming at GenCon will bring. We'll see.

Got the chronicle... but Lort's gold should be 5,482 and not 5,842 (simple case of some switched digits). Would you mind editing it and re-uploading?

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Also, forgot to ask (not that you couldn't have guessed, GM): Manual of gainful exercise +1 please.

I'lll sign Amaranti's copy, too, with pleasure.

Thanks for the offer to run, too, Jack, but I am out of PFS. It's not just PFS over PbP, it's all PFS. GenCon will be my swan song... and if that changes my mind, then maybe back into it August+. Don't hold your breath, though. Most likely, I'll turn up to PFS events (like hopefully Con of the North 2017) and maintain a stable of characters across the level ranges. Mostly, that will be so that I can catch up in person with you awesome folks at said events.

Sorry to do this to the Drongos, but my regular time is best spent on something I actually enjoy. Like RoW.

Lort hangs his head as he is debriefed by the eccentric elf. "I am sorry that we were not able to do more. It is just that, well, after all of that wading through demons, libraries and everything, and finally making it to the dream realm. I feel... cheated that not only were we not able to retrieve the lantern for you, but we weren't even able to meet and question this three hundred and twenty two woman. I fear that the entire expedition was pointless."

Am I missing something here? How can this be the conclusion of the scenario? We do all this f#$&ing research and get absolutely nowhere? Any reason this isn't a tier 1-5? I thought that was the level range for "do nothing / go nowhere" scenarios.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Lort nearly slices the hag in two just to get this over with, but luckily Finarin's honeyed words stay his hand. This b+@!$ chooses to talk around the topic, then so be it. He doesn't have to let her... but his friends think she has useful information. She gets a pass. For now.

Lort doesn't even consider the possibility that he could be completely and utterly outmatched.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

"The Aspis Consortium are here, then?" Lort sighs, "Better show us where they are then so we can have this over with and report to that overstuffed bureaucrat Valsin that we may not have the lantern, but at least we killed some Consortium scum."

Forgot to heal up!

Lort pulls out his wand and fixes his wounds while these folk chat.

CLW #1: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW #2: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW #3: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
CLW #4: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
CLW #5: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW #6: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 That'll do it.

The big half-orc smiles the biggest of grins at Cyrus's comments. "So... what do we do next?" he asks the party, right in front of the hag, and genuinely confused about how to proceed, "We can't leave without at least trying to get the lantern, and she won't give it to us willingly. Do we just kill her and take it now? To be honest, all this combat is far more exciting than romping through the library, and she only gets so much credit for destroying it..."

Lort draws his vicious greatsword and shrugs his shoulders and rotates his arms to loosen up his killing muscles, "So, hag, give us the lantern or we take it by force. Simple as that."

Intimidate, cha penalty: 1d20 + 21 - 3 ⇒ (12) + 21 - 3 = 30 -- Only if appropriate.

I have no idea how many times I tried to edit that post so it said 'diplomacy assist'. But a duplicated post, a slow site and a goblin crash later, I stopped caring enough to try again. Hopefully this post makes it.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

"Yes, a lantern... but as for what now?" Lort scoffs as he comes down to land, "Let me first thank you for utterly destroying the library. You've no idea how much I've wanted to do that myself since we came here."

A big grin crosses the half-orc's face as he admires the wanton destruction, "Oh, yeah, what now? Well, Three-Hundred-and-Twenty-Two is ex-Aspis, right? Wants redemption right? Pretty sure we'll try to recruit her. It's what we've done every single other time in such circumstances. This doesn't strike me as the time to get imaginative about things." The irony of such a statement when in a land wrought of imagination is completely lost on Lort.

Lort diplomacy - HA!: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (18) - 5 = 13

Thanks for the support, Steve.

Jack, good to know you're having fun with PFS. Maybe we've been unlucky. Maybe my attitude has been poor lately for whatever reason and that's caused me to be sour on PFS (because I've been really enjoying RoW, so it's not PbP)... but for all 3 PFS groups I've been in, it's been a long time since I've enjoyed the scenario, despite the GMs rocking at running them.

I hope that I get a new enjoyment for PFS over GenCon, I really do.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Hi all!

I've been thinking about something for a while now. My thoughts mirror Steve's about this (and other scenarios I've played of late) and recent server issues (among some other things) has led me to a sad conclusion: I am leaving PFS.

I will play live occasionally, and GenCon 2016 will be a big farewell. I know this means I won't be with you for the Seeker Arc, and I'm aware this means the Drongos will be down one crazy half-orc... but I'm really not having fun anymore.

This is nothing to do with GM Bold Strider's GMing. I've been more than happy under his masterful guidance over PbP. Thank you so much, mate, for taking over our collection of Drongos!

This decision is purely PFS and server-issue based. This one has been the worst scenario I think I've ever played, but the quality and direction of late has been severely lackluster. It's not so bad at a live table when you get to socialize and it's all over in 4 hours. Playing the same frustrating game for a month? Intolerable and not fun. Perhaps it was always like this. Maybe I've moved on and grown. I don't know.

So... thank you very much to everyone for playing with me and the Drongos for over a year now! I'm very grateful for all the fun we've had, and am so happy it will continue with RoW (assuming we can find some way to play that doesn't crash all the time).

Obviously, I'll play out the end of this scenario, but that is where it ends. So sorry for ruining everyone's plans, but this doesn't mean you have to stop! I'm just not doing PFS anymore... and the less PbP I play on these s&!@ty f#@*ing servers the better.

Lort gets near to where the red hued one disappeared and also readies an action for when the little freaks come out of the rock.

When an enemy comes within reach:

+3 ghost touch greatsword, (shaken, fatigued, haste for +15 total), power attack (furious focus): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Damage, power attack, vital strike: 2d6 + 12 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 12 + 6 + (6, 4) = 38

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Forgot to mention something to improve PbP flow, GM: Lort has 'step up' and will follow if the creature tries to 5ft step out of the way (eg. to use a ranged attack). The creature doesn't know this, of course... ;-)

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Ah, that makes sense now. The 3D nature of this map is tricky over PbP.

Man, I love being able to cast fly. Who needs a ranged attack when you can hurl Lort instead?

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Lort quickly chants "Fly!" and rushes up to meet the yellow hued insubstantial psychic freak.

"Can't get away from me this time," he boasts, brandishing his new ghost touch sword.

Not sure if it can get into a rock with a 5ft step or not, but might as well be flying and ready to AoO if I can.

I think this line from the combat summary might be causing confusion... I know I'm not clear on it:

Also, the tactical map has them non-adjacent to us.

Will save #1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Will save #2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

What does a successful will save do? Negate the charisma and damage, right? Right? ;-)

A little fearful, Lort nevertheless musters up all his courage. "Kurgess, grant me the strength to slay this foe! Time to die, whatever it is you are!" Lort cries, already having forgetten what Ibid called it.

If at any point these attacks take the feargaunt down, he'll redirect to another enemy he still threatens.

Main attack
+3 ghost touch greatsword, power attack (furious focus), flank: 1d20 + 15 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 15 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 32
Damage, power attack: 2d6 + 12 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 12 + 6 = 27

27 damage.

Iterative attack
+3 ghost touch greatsword (iterative), power attack (furious focus), flank: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 32
Damage, power attack: 2d6 + 12 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 12 + 6 = 24
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 21
Crit damage: 2d6 + 12 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 12 + 6 = 26

50 damage total if an 21 confirms, but likely only 24 damage.

Haste attack
+3 ghost touch greatsword (haste), power attack (furious focus), flank: 1d20 + 15 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 15 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 37
Damage, power attack: 2d6 + 12 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 12 + 6 = 24
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 15 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 15 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 23
Crit damage: 2d6 + 12 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 12 + 6 = 25

49 damage total if a 23 confirms.

So, all up that's a probable total of 100 damage (precisely!), unless its AC is 24+.

And because I can...

Lort lets out a victorious yell after his stunning assault, perhaps giving the massive thing cause for pause.

Free intimidate vs Feargaunt (cornugon smash): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (1) + 21 = 22 -- 'Tis true what they say about Lort and skill checks.

If Lort attacked one of the women...

Free intimidate vs Shadow chick (cornugon smash): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (14) + 21 = 35 -- Temporarily true.

Starting to get conditions all over the place... not to mention a shiny new sword. To keep things nice and simple, I added it all in on Hero Lab and updated my tagline with the new stats. I also included a simple offensive block on his profile for when he's attacking with all current conditions and his +3 ghost touch greatsword.

Just so you know I've included them all when I attack next. I'll add flanking, power attack, etc in separately, if it applies to whichever attack I'm making.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

As mentioned above, Lort moves into a flanking position with Gunari, since he has the extra haste movement. Shaken now, so looks like we'll need the extra +2! Updated his position on the tactical.

"Holy hells, that hurt!" cries Lort, staggering back a little from the pain, "D-d-do you th-th-think he'll do that again?" The normally implacable half-orc is shivering and actually fearful for what might happen next.

Dude, he should be scared from that super above average damage roll! Eep!

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Good luck, Ronster! Hope you ace it, mate.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Also, Ibid, don't forget you have that +4 cloak of resistance (Lort passed it to you earlier). It's not currently reflected on your tagline. Here's the post in case you missed it.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Lort concentrates on bringing something out from the ether... something to help him actually damage these things. He reaches down for a sword that begins to appear from the ground....

As per discussion, attempting to summon a +3 ghost touch greatsword.

Charisma check, DC 14: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19 -- Ha! Was there ever any doubt?

To find that his hands grip on a real weapon! He brandishes it with a look of glee on his face. "How about a bit of haste, Amaranti?"

Amaranti technically goes before Lort, so if he uses haste, I'll move 5ft further into a flank with Gunari.

Lort skirts around to get a better shot at the large demonic thing, hoping it had all the opportune attacks it could take when it attacked Gunari.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

"Guys, I think I'm going to try conjuring a sword... something with ghost touch should be a good idea, right?" Lort looks around uncertainly to his comrades. He's never really thought that tactically about a situation before, but this dreamworld thing was an interesting proposition.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

So... just had a brainwave. Lort is better off hitting than casting spells... but he could conjure a weapon!

If I'm right, the caster level for a +3 ghost touch greatsword is CL 9 (use the greater of 3x enhancement bonus - which is 9 - or the CL requirement of ghost touch - which is 9). DC for the charisma check is then 14. Lort passes that 30% of the time. With a +1 reroll, it gets to 35%. So... that's 0.3 + 0.7 * 0.35 = 0.545.... close enough to a 55% chance. I only do 50% damage without it... so... totally worth a shot, right? What's the worst that could happen?

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

"Thanks!" Lort nods to Finarin, finally believing the man and planting both feet beneath himself. He grins a malicious grin at the big thing beating up Gunari, "Your turn. My deadly thing won't be an illusion. My deadly thing is real."

Lort grips all the harder on his big sword and smiles all the wider. "So much better than reading...."

Don't know what the others see, so for now...

Lort's arms and legs flail about madly as he tries vainly to grab for purchase with his free hand.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Agreed. Sorry for the rants!

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

On the Mikko thing... Scions of the Sky Key had a "defense points" mechanic. It relied on whether you accomplished certain tasks and activities on the way to and within the dungeon. Many of them could be passed with one or more skill checks, but each had an RP thing that you could do to get a significant mechanical bonus (like using the basilisk's favorite toy ball to your advantage). It was heavy on the creative thinking and light on the "roll or fail" kind of checks. Moreover, as you did each of them, some other details about the dungeon you were in became apparent. Its history was unveiled before your eyes.

That is the kind of thing that piques my interest. Having that scenario to contrast this one makes it painfully obvious how badly this one misses the mark.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Combat is a well-established mechanic that:

  • Everyone builds the characters for (ie. even if you're not a combat specialist, you still have capabilities in that arena).
  • Everyone skills up in by default (BAB).
  • Can be used untrained.
  • Has any number of creative solutions for and creative situations around (spells, class abilities, feats, etc).
  • Is expected to occur, as it is the primary means of leveling your character (getting XP).
  • It is not pass / fail... you do damage per round (it isn't down to a single hit).
  • Is inherently team-oriented (and typically involves the whole team).

That said, I like the introduction of interesting extra mechanics. Rolling on ones that have been arbitrarily sprung on you is okay. Doing it on 4 separate encounters (three of which required a ridiculous number of rolls) within something as brief as a scenario? Not cool. Not fun.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

A tactical would be awesome here to get a visual, but as per SOP, Lort and Cyrus check the door for traps, Finarion detects magic. If we see none or can disable it, we unlock the door (if necessary) and in we go (using the marching order from discussion).

"Ready?" asks Lort, "I've had just about all I can take from this dreamscape. Libraries must be on our f@~+ing minds. I thought at least we'd find something different in a realm of imagination. I can't imagine the dullness our brains have experienced to send to a place like this again."

Sword drawn, Lort kicks in the door. He is not sure what he will find on the other side. Strange mirrors? Fine. The Void? No problem. Unspeakable invisible demons? All over it. More rows of bookshelves? He does not believe he could handle that.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Mechanics more complex?

For disable device, the pay-off is opening locked doors, disabling traps, etc. For diplomacy and intimidate, the pay-off is influencing NPCs. For sense motive, the pay-off is not being lied to. Bluff, pay-off is lies, feints and other things.

Knowledge skills have an obvious pay-off in monster lore. For the rest of it, they are a plot revealing device. It's a way for PCs' study habits to have an in game reveal for you that helps immerse you in the situation. Rolling them (and any other skill) for the sake of 'if you have that skill, you win' is just crap. A library search requiring knowledge rolls that don't expand the narrative (and only serve push the plot forwards as opposed to stalling it completely) are a waste. It's not what they're for.

Doing it 4+ times in a single scenario? It's uninventive, unnecessarily punitive and just poor design.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Lort prays to Kurgess that their wounds may be healed.

Channel heal: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3) = 10

Oh, the fatigued condition. So our characters are just as tired of this bull s+&# as we are. Nice.

Lort smashes through the library with all his might. Weapon drawn, the shelves don't stand a chance. He slices through tomes with reckless abandon, eyeing the books with glee as they fly this way and that.

Lort perception #1: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18

"Maybe try reading that one, Ibid," he notes, half-heartedly as a volume strikes the investigator on the back of the head.

Lort perception #2: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27

"Oh, this book is just your thing, Finarin," Lort spikes a leather bound journal with the tip of his sword and flings it at the elf. It strikes him in the stomach.

Lort perception #3: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28

"Hey, Amaranti, one on the planes!" a demonic tome is kicked in the direction of the Garundi.

"What?" asks the half-orc, genuinely confused, "It's not like these books are real."

Well, maybe two library sequences in the same scenario.

Make that 3 library sequences and a very similarly run ritual sequence.

Robert, don't know if you're still reading mate, but seriously? Nice to try to do a non-combat without diplomacy... but how many groups of 6 randoms do you imagine would have this covered? Either you've got it or you don't. If you've got it... 4 times is just boring. If you don't, 4 is frustrating as hell.

Sorry for the lackluster post, GM, but I'm so over these bull s*~$ skill checks. I understand that diplomacy has become a crutch in PFS for non-combat encounters, and this scenario is quite obviously trying to throw something else into the ring... but it is getting ridiculous.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Lort is terrible at remembering his teachings. He'd far rather concentrate on following in his patron's footsteps than reading his writings, or the writings of his peers.

"The same dreamscape? Will it be the same dream or a separate one?" Lort asks, unsure of what he's even saying. He had heard tell that the grippli who loved Finarin so well spent some time in a dreamscape recently, and that very strange things happened there. What a coincidence then, that so soon after hearing of it, he too got the chance to do so. Well, anything that mild-mannered frog-man could do, he could do!

"So long as my blade still works while we're there, I will go," Lort says at last, patting the hilt of his Lockpick, "But Amaranti, we always have a choice! There are wrong ones and right ones. I just never bother to consider which one I'm making. Ha!"

Seriously, this is the 3rd season 7 I've played post GenCon and the 2nd dreamscape sequence. "You had me at 'plunge'!" cries Lort, flinging the scroll Gunari's way. I just hope he doesn't have to use that on me before too long...

Without a second glance, Lort strides boldly forward.

GM, you of all people know what that means.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

"Well those are some strange notes," Lort screws his face up, "Black stars? Any idea what that could refer to, Ibid? Finarin? How would anyone even be able to see a black star to know it existed?"

Lort throws Ibid the cloak of resistance. "I did always wonder why you went around without one of these... perhaps that will suit you well!"

While handing out the cloak, something triggers a memory in Lort's mind, "Oh, I forgot to mention: Nigel sent us a care package. I think it might have been by way of apology. I guess I should have shown you earlier... especially with Cyrus thinking he was working against us!"

Lort unfurls a cloth-wrapped bundle to reveal an oil of hold portal, a wand of cure moderate wounds (7 charges), deathwatch eyes and a set of pipes of pain.

The half-orc decides that having the scroll of breath of life and the deathwatch eyes would be the best option for either him or Gunari. He offers them to the warpriest first. As for the wand of curing, he takes that himself. The pipes seem more Miro's thing, but he leaves them out in case someone decides to use them.

"It seems that Nigel's guests have taken to playing these, and he wants them away as quickly as possible," Lort comments as he places the pipes down for someone to claim, "Though he believes it was by accident, I think his visitors would do anything - even cause themselves absolute agony - to avoid listening to him drone on. Am I right?"

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Lort looks at the notes with a due sense of exhaustion and dread. More notes.

"Oh goody. More books. Oh, and look! More notes!" he calls out to Ibid with as much false enthusiasm as he can possibly muster after examining yet another tome. He passes this one over to the recently revived old man, holding it open for him. "It's been four days and I'm quite sick of reading. If it's a summoning ritual, I say go for it and we'll hopefully have some fun fighting whatever comes into that circle."

If no-one else will, Lort will eventually examine the notes to see if he can be of any help.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Cyrus on Linguistics makes a heap of sense. I don't know if that was an option last time (when we all rolled perception). We should cover as many of the different categories as possible, IMO, so Finarin on knowledge (arcana) at +15 and Ibid with Amaranti on knowledge (planes) at +13+1d6 and +2. Kaisharga can perhaps help with perception. Lort is most definitely perceiving things.

As before, Lort has a make whole spell ready to go as he begins to rummage roughly through the library. This time, he's looking for an Aspis agent, or signs she was here. He plucks books off shelves, as though expecting one to be stuck to a trigger for a secret door. He roughly moves furniture around and generally, makes a mess of things. He's not a bad sport, though, so will help his friends clean up... but only after he's had his day's worth of searching.

"Well, that wasn't such a bad workout for the day," Lort notes after day one, still fairly chipper.

"I'm so f&%$ing bored!" he cries at the end of day two.

"There has to be some sign of her or where she went... has anyone seen some forbidden, mystical looking bottles?" he asks in a leading kind of way, "Something that looks like it could contain a djinn... I'm busting for a fight!"

Perception, day #1: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34

"Well that's something!" Lort pats the man in a friendly manner on the shoulder, "And sorry about threatening to put your head through a door. I took your pause to be reticence. Won't happen again. Next time the Shrine to Kurgess rolls around, you've got a free training session any time you like!"

Lort bounces off towards the Sealed Wing... then is redirected towards the actual Sealed Wing. "Come on!" he calls, "She may have been sitting there for a few days, but at least she might still be in the mood for a fight! My flight spell won't last forever, you know!"

The half-orc glides off, weapon already being drawn.... "And Qilaus, unless you want us to break down the door, best send someone to open that dimensional lock. What? Only kidding! Mostly. Mostly kidding!"

Lort smacks Gunari heartily on the back, "Quite right there, Gunari!"

The half-orc favors the second archivist with a grin, before turning back to his friends and giving them an exaggerated wink."It's cute how he thinks those five could force us to do anything we did not choose to do if he were truly betraying us.

"Worry not, Qilaus, our paranoia is borne only of having to raise our friend Ibid, here. The priests of Desna did much to restore her disciple," he gestures to Ibid, as if to indicate that he is no longer dead, "But it did little to assuage my Keleshi friend's nerves... and neither did that tumble with Sheeba, it seems! Ha!"

Diplomacy assist: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7 -- Not exactly friendly words, but with a -1 to diplomacy, I think they're probably apt. Oh, and that roll just proves it!

"Well, let us be on our way to the Sealed Wing, unless our Second Archivist here is willing to forgive us," Lort slaps his hands together, clearly eager to find out whatever 'random' threat looms in these books.

Wand CLW #1: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 -- Close enough. 80hp.

"Cyrus, you really have it in for that elven librarian," Lort laughs and claps the ninja on the back, "I didn't know that having Ibid die would make you so paranoid. I'll try my best not to let him perish again."

Lort looks around confused for a second time, "What? Too soon?"

Lort towers over the second archivist, placing his mailed hands over each of his shoulders and squeezing slightly. "Don't fret, friends," Lort smiles, "He's snooty but he has been cooperative, and I'm sure he'll continue to be cooperative. Isn't that right, Qilaus?"

Ibid, did I ever tell you needed AC items instead of boots of speed? Clearly I had my head stuck up my butt. 73 damage just like that? Wow.

Amaranti is attacking the deathweb... he said "spidery thing".

Sorry mate, out of channel heals and I do not like my chances of getting a spell off while threatened by two of those guys! Lort hasn't invested in combat casting at all.

That is, unless it was decided to be the following day (I believe Gunari cast the only vote and it was for the same day).

Either way, a good offense might be the best chance we have. The deathweb has already attacked, leaving the hungry fog thing the only next to act creature. Hopefully, between we two priests, we've ended it!

Worst comes to worst, Lort has a scroll of breath of life! He can move away, take the hits and cast it.

Well, the best defense is a good offense. Hopefully the freaky spider dude (deathweb, thanks Ibid) isn't unintelligent and will see Amaranti and Kaisharga as the bigger threat. Also, can't see how I can heal Gunari properly without being in the threat range of two creatures. Don't like the chances of actually getting my spell off. Do like my chances of distracting these things from attacking Gunari with a big attack.

Not sure if this is the same day or not. I know Gunari voted for this day, and Finarin voted for next. If it is the next day, I will have channel heals again.

"Gunari, do you need a channel?" calls out Lort, unsure if his friend would prefer a small amount of healing over a big , "Otherwise, I'm sure I can beat these things down for you!"

Default action:
Lort flies up and over Kaisharga, attacking the ooze from above!

From a height of 20ft, diagonally fly in and down to attack (from a height of 15ft above the ground... where his feet are dangling). This shouldn't provoke from the deathweb, as the last 'cube' I move in to attack the ooze from is at the edge of its reach. I love flight.

Lort brings his greatsword down like he's chopping wood.

+1 vicious adamantine greatsword, power attack, furious focus: 1d20 + 15 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 15 - 2 + 2 = 28
Damage, power attack, vital strike, vicious: 2d6 + 10 + 6 + 6 + 2d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 10 + 6 + 6 + (4, 3) + (4, 1) = 43
Self harm: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Unless Gunari says yes AND it is the following day:
Please modify Lort's movement to end 1 square north of Gunari... I'm assuming moving there doesn't attract an AoO due to cover from the deathweb up to that point and the fact that the fog already has taken an AoO. If that's not the case, Lort will get as close to Gunari as possible without provoking while still keeping him in the area of effect.

Lort prays to Kurgess to shine his radiance upon the situation.

Channel positive energy to heal: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 4) = 12

Reflex save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Lort shows that once more he can be as nimble - if not more so - than Cyrus and leaps out of the way. Why did I have to discharge that book with my foot?

Knowledge (dungeoneering), Student of Scrolls: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Amazed at his own attention to detail from his lectures, Lort shouts out, "That's a Hungry Fog! It likes negative energy... and graveyards. Apparently, it is some kind of ooze."

Please still roll your dungeoneerings, I'm sure there are special abilities that Lort forgot about.
