I know that they're planning (?) to extend her role in 2e, I'm just curious of how she never got any more unique features in 1e. Since she already was one of the more popular Demon Lords, alongside Deskari, Baphomet, Kabriri, etc, and she was Pazuzu-levels of power.

Is it just me not being able to find any info, or did Paizo never give Nocticula any unique thematic summons and/or spells in 1e? With her being one of the Demon Lords with the most spotlight shed on (which continued in 2e with her ascension as well) I'm surprised she never got any.

I mean, I guess you can easily homebrew if you know her stuff. Just curious though.

For me it was the Owlcat games. For various reasons I never played a DnD-based game (like Baldur's Gate) so my first introduction with the ttrpg scene was through those games.

I'm still exploring both Pathfinder and DnD as High Fantasy systems (even though I'm more biased towards the former due to aforementioned reasons - as well as mechanical ones) and, even company-wise, I prefer Paizo to WOTC. Partly due to the latter's disrespect towards its own creator (and "grandpa" of the hobby) Gary Gygax, trying to appeal to that mythic "modern audience" by erasing/tampering with his legacy. Also the predatory financial policies, OGL fiasco, etc.
Idk, I get annoyed with marketing stuff like that.

As for editions, I like 1e a lot and currently learning the mechanics of 2e as well. Plus the lore and whatever changes, retcons occured and stuff like that.

Sadly, in my home country DnD is by far the more famous of the two, so I'll have to struggle a lot more to find a table.

Mysterious Stranger that's a helpful insight into the nature of cults and how they operate. Especially in the case of Demon Lords, the faceless cultists can be seen as both worshippers and peons.

So other than doing his Obedience ritual (like a form of praying) you wouldn't be getting any other actual benefit from being Baphy's cultist-worshipper, right? Other than maybe a circle of ""friends"" to fall back on inside the cult.

Foeclan and Melkiador, those are some very informative and interesting posts you made. I'm not interested in presenting every baddie as grey misunderstood, but I believe that they should also possess a certain evident appeal and benefit to present to the "average" person.
I mean, most people are not naturally evil, so you need to have more things going on to attract and trap future cultists.

Hello loremasters and clerics of the Demon Lords.

I was wondering what reasons other than being EEEBIL would a person have to worship Baphomet in 1e. I noticed that one of his subdomains is Resolve, and this would translate to a lot of things. Does worship in Baphomet make you bolder and/or more determined?

Supposedly he prefers the sneaky "keep your strength hidden until the right time" approach. Like a predator. But how does this fit to his Resolve theme and the rest of his portfolio?

What would someone gain from worshipping him?

Your the first one I have seen who posted on this site that found out about Pathfinder from the video games.

Really? That's quite peculiar to me.

Greetings first of all.

I learned it through Owlcat's games, Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous, as most people lately I can imagine.

I'm a videogame-only guy as you can imagine and I have only ever taken 1 taste of trpg many years ago in summer camp. I think it was DnD. I like Pathfinder and its world thus far and I would be interested in further exploring it in a tabletop fashion.

Although to be honest, I'm also looking forward in playing BG3 (or a BG game in general) in order to get roughly accostumed to the DnD setting as well.
But I started with PF1e if that says something.

All in all, I'm in exploration mode and I'm happy to be here.
