Ok. I will just go with the flow and see how things work out.

Finally, what three things should the party be best at handling? Ex. fighting, social stuff, knowledge checks, saves, etc.

Is there anything you guys recommend to use as a tank that has a good will save and can do more than just combat. Is the unchained monk a good frontliner even though its will save got nerfed for a better bab.

What would make a better arcane caster a slumber witch or a god wizard?

Would a more balanced party, arcane caster, trap disabler+ face, healer/buffer, and a tank work better?

Should I expect deaths throughout the campaign. I have an unoptimized undine aquatic sorcerer, a decent archer ranger, a melee druid- decent, kobold cleric-kinda a healbot. For the archer, druid and animal companion at level 4 they will have +9ish to hit and +5ish damage. Cleric has 16 wis and stinks at combat. It has some buffs but it will tend to sacrifice them for cure spells mid battle.

Maybe look into dervish dance. That gives you dex to hit and damage. I dunno if you want to give up your net though. Just my 2 cents.

I was wondering about how hard Rise of the Runelords is. I have heard that aps are easy but I am not sure. Would a party of extreme min/maxers just mow down the campaign. If I want a challenging ap what should my level of optimization be?

I will look into it. Thxs.

I don't know too much about wizards or sticking to core but Turin the Mad that sounds so cool. I can't wait to try it out.

I am fairly noobish but summons seem to be great for soaking up damage and flanking. They tend to be below the power curve though so they are not a reliable output of damage. They are great though because they do not need healing. Low level summons are useful for getting rid of traps.

I have come to the forums to ask about establishing the faith of The Lantern King in Sandpoint over the course of Rise of the Runelords. The character is a Kobold cleric that is seeking to return the Latern King to his former glory. He believes that he is the center piece of the party and takes all the credit due to his greedy nature.
Any tips on how that would be done would be useful but I am looking for-
How much would it cost to build a place of worship?
How would I go about recruiting?
Would this mess up the campaign for my newish gm?
Do you folks need any more information on the Kobold? Also the Lantern King is a deity according to the inner sea guide.

On second thought I have decided to drop out of this application thread because first I would like to play in a simpler non gestalt campaign before attempting a gestalt one.

Aye Aye Dragon. I will build the gnome bard/master summoner. Master of niceties, but has a whole load a pets you DON'T want to offend.

Please comment on my build. Is there anything you are looking for specifically? Also, how optimized should the builds be. I have more optimized builds than this one if it is going to be very hard.

Grukk was raised with a simple philosophy, the bigger the weapon, the better. He has carried this with him through his life and has sought to have to the biggest weapon. He knows nothing but rage and brawn and has been forced to fight all his life. He does not have a brain to call his own, and the best plans involve smashing and cutting. He is not diplomatic at all and strangely is poor at intimidating people. Despite his chaotic and unruly nature he does try his best to do good, even when it conflicts with authority. Though he is very loyal and is happy when someone else does the thinking. As he blundered through life he recieved a job to do what he was trained for, take things forcefully.

Would a barbarian fighter be okay?

Sounds cool. Where do I post my character?

The decision is that we will both have 2 ungestalted characters. We are instituting them now with only starting treasure to not disrupt the campaigns loot levels.

I have come to the forums to learn, A. would having an evil character propelled by selfish desires in Rise of the Runelords be doable B. would this combo even be useful C. Would making a coup de grace oriented rogue who sneaks ahead and kills enemies in their sleep work.
Thank you.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hello. I have a question. Do you think I could play a ninja/souleater in rotrl and do things only for selfish desires. Or would it be too conflicting with the plot? Thanks.

The other player is an aquatic sorcerer who is an undine. Besides the other player has a 50/50 chance of quitting if her character dies. I am using a brawler monk, all credit to wiggz, with cleric on the other end.

Think of my ideal character as an unharmable killing machine. Spellcaster or non spellcaster works either way. I also have a very high equipment budget.

Hello Paizo boards. I have have to come to call upon the knowledge of all you geniuses. I am in a two player game of Rise of the Runelords and have already started and my character is doing well. However the second player is terribly weak so I am looking for an over powered gestalt build. Gestalt is legal in my game but the second player is choosing not to do so because it is "cheating" and would ruin the character even though they have nearly no backstory. I want to be able to hold my own in combat singlehandidly because the other player is not much use. Also, I am a decent beginner so the more you can spell out the better.
