Perhaps we can help you and your tribe out, but it will not be easy. It was certainly quite dangerous rescuing you from those evil mites.

Lior looks at Oleg. Really? You can put an order in for magical items? I'll tell you, I WAS looking for a magic stick, but a different kind...we would probably do well with a stick that heals wounds. Do you think you'd be able to get your hands on one of those?

We could probably do with a wand of cure light wounds...

HOW MUCH MONEY DO WE HAVE?

Sorry - that last post was hard to read...here is what I meant:

Laric wrote:

Can someone remind me how much money we have?

Are you sure that crafted-yourself level 1 scrolls cost 25 gp? I think 25 gp is the regular cost and doing it yourself may get you 50% off.

As you ask him for supplies for the scrolls, he produces the materials from behind the counter.

Materials for 10 scrolls will cost you 250 gp, assuming they are all 1st level spells.

When you ask him about interesting equipment, Oleg states that it depends on what you are looking for. He takes you to the storeroom and lists off the magic items that he has available:

"Healing Potion for 300 gp" -> Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds

"Magic Stick for 375 gp" -> Wand of Jump with 25 charges remaining

"Magic Feather for 400 gp" -> Feather token, tree

"Magic Ring for 2000 gp" -> Ring of Protection +1

He finishes and says "Of course if you're looking for anything specific, I can always try to place an order in to Restov. Should be here in about a week."

Can someone remind me how much money we have?

Are you sure that the scrolls will cost 25 gp each? I think 25 gp is the regular cost to buy, and I thought that if you craft it yourself, the material cost is half the regular final cost.

That guy we found dead was that other guy's brother, you remember?

Lior feels invigorated after his meeting with Jhod. He makes a mental note to go by periodically. He goes and finds Oleg, tells him he wants to buy material for ten scrolls, and then asks him what other potentially interesting equipment he has in stock. As Oleg takes him to the storeroom, Lior makes a mental note to ask the others when they can leave - he's eager to return to the wild...they've got kobolds to pacify, a wedding ring to find, Falgrim to drag back, and lots more to do.

Lior wakes up, feeling much refreshed. He dresses quickly and goes out to find Jhod, eager to tell his brother that the ruined temple is now ready to be consecrated again. He makes a mental note to ask Oleg what he has in stock now that the group has got a little gold; he needs more material to scribe scrolls, as well as various other things.

Lior chuckles quietly again, and says under his breath

Patience and goodwill...hmm...

Heh heh heh. That WAS interesting!

He looks down at his hands, checks that the glow is still there, and chuckles quietly.

Thank you, Madame. I've not been so amusingly divested of a similar sum of money in some time. I particularly liked looking at the way Rolecks' nails are going to look in a couple of years.

Lior stops paying attention to the others for a second. He's filled with a sense of awesomeness! He looks at his hands and for some reason he thinks he's outlined with a shimmering gold aura...so figures that now is the time to level up.

HP roll 1d8 ⇒ 5

Hoo boy. Here we go. I can't wait to see what happens now.

Lior rummages in his backpack and finds some more herbs rolled in a tiny piece of papyrus. He murmurs a low sound, twitches his finger, and it catches on fire. He puts it to his lips and takes a long drag. After a minute, his eyes glaze over slightly, and he smiles.

OK, guys, NOW I'm ready.

He keeps taking slow drags. Suddenly, he gets a mischievous look on his face. He clasps his hands together, makes a jerking movement, and mutters something that sounds like "Zot!"

Suddenly, multicoloured flashing lights erupt in the space around them, almost right on top of Bill. Rolecks looks amused. Haplo yawns. Bill jumps back, cursing, and blinking his eyes. He tries to blink the brightness away, but it's almost like HAPPY BIRTHDAY is burned into his retinas...at least for a second.

Is there a new Statustracker for this PBP?

Lior gets out of the hot springs and gets dressed. He seems invigorated. He then reaches into his spell component pouch, takes out a pinch of something, sprinkles it over his feet, and chants something quietly.

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Do we get XP for successfully navigating challenges even though we don't beat them to a bloody pulp? Two 200-lb frogs with razor-sharp teeth should be a nice chunk of XP.

Lior carefully places his scrolls, weapons, and clothes in a neat pile, and then slowly gets into the hot spring to relax. He lets his eyes close and slowly permits his awareness/consciousness to commune with the living things in the area.

He relishes this moment, and the silence, knowing that it is not long before someone makes an irritating snarky comment.

I am casting 'Cure Light Wounds' on myself right before we go to bed.

Lior slows and almost imperceptibly raises a hand to stop the others from moving forward too quickly. He searches his memory for information about giant frogs.

Knowledge: nature

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

He starts making low-pitched sounds at the back of his throat as he uses the fingers on one hand to trace a pattern in the air by his side.

casts Charm Animal on the one that looks bigger

looks for a second at Haplo Let's see if I can get one of these things to relax, and then perhaps we together can calm down the other one so we can explore this pond without having to chop these frogs up.

Lior wakes up, steps out of his bedroll, and shakes his head, annoyed at having forgotten to use his cure light wounds spell the day before. He packs up quickly, efficiently, has a bite of bread, and looks at the others.

I'm ready to go, says quietly

Could I still heal someone before we go to bed? I had a Cure Light Wounds prepared from yesterday that I hadn't used yet.

Lior blinks, wipes the drool off his chin, and drops the charred remains of his medicinal herbs.

starts goose-steppingI guess we're going to the temple...then perhaps we'll get a break from the never-ending wisecracking voice-overs...

As Lior makes a quick hand movement after scribing some unintelligible script on the heavy vellum paper, there is a flash of light, and he jumps backward, surprised.

critical Spellcraft roll 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

He is lightly conked on the head by three other scrolls that fall out of the sky.

I guess we found his brother. Should we see if he has anything on him that we could bring back to Orlivanch as a memento? What was it that he wrote in the letter...that he forgave him or something?

I'm going to make a 'Charm Animal' scroll.

Spellcraft 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

Lior moves his hands quickly and mutters a few words after getting something small out of a little pouch on his belt. All of a sudden, he appears almost imperceptibly brighter, more resilient.

I cast 'Resistance' and 'Guidance' on myself

He then approaches to about twenty feet and looks around, assessing the situation, and whether anything looks like a trap. He peers carefully at the body to see if he can recognize who - or what - it is.

[ooc] Perception check? If so, [ooc]

1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 1 = 29

Gets clearly excited

(In Sylvan) Thank you again for your sage counsel. We are beyond grateful, for information such as this is priceless.

Turns to the others

Let's get going! This time...so we don't get killed by another animal...I'm going to prepare some spells that will hopefully make some things a little easier...

makes mental note to remember to start making fermented berry juice when they get back to Oleg's

also stands, smiles, claps briefly. Says 'bravo, bravo' in Sylvan

By the way, just so that no one forgets, I'm just about out of spells for today.

Lior turns to the Barbarian Super Saiyan, the sixty-year old man who suddenly took Bill's place, and the ranger with severe anemia

Yes, actually, I do feel better now.

starts whistling quietly

whoops didn't see that GM decision before posting

the User returns from trying to figure out what to do with the baby whose fever will not break

I'm not done yet. We might as well finish this now, when we're just four guys trying to figure out how to cross a river, instead of five years from now when it's a hell of a lot more complicated when we're trying to run a fcking NATION here.

This isn't about being touchy-feely. It's about being ADULTS and WORKING IN A TEAM, because if we don't, we're all going to die, one way or the other.

Teammates trust each other. When one says something, the others don't immediately think they must be full of sh*t, even when they don't understand. You could have just ASKED me why I wanted to go to the temple...OR, alternatively, you could have just LISTENED, or maybe THOUGHT for two seconds. You're the one with the genius-level intelligence, right? Did you notice that even though I'm not a cleric and know relatively little about religion I knew a sh*t-ton about Erastil...and that even though I'm a druid somehow I know how to shoot a bow? Listening...thinking...asking...these are things that we'll all have to do when we're running a country and we have actually DIFFICULT challenges to face.

Just like the plan for crossing the river - just LISTEN. I already SAID six seconds ago that I'd make a fire...do I really need to slowly draw out the plan of how people get warm and dry in front of a fire?? Use your genius intelligence, man!

I'm glad you love Haplo and Rolecks. You don't need to like me, or make small talk with me, or hang around me. But bad news - I'M ON THE TEAM, so you HAVE to respect me, and you NEED to listen when I talk, because even though you're a genius, you're an idiot, when it comes to the big picture. You're the one that I'll listen to when it comes to building rafts, or how magic works, or whatever...and I am the one that YOU will listen to on the occasion that I notice something that isn't right.

The bullsh*t ends here. Got it?

As for the river - it's SIXTY FEET ACROSS. That's probably shorter than your parents' driveway. I could THROW stuff across, even with my below-average strength. And the wizards that I know have spellbooks that survive a quick dunking ( recent decision in the forums). We can swim and I can make a fire, and even if we get cold we'll be ready by the am. Or, we can wait until tomorrow, and I can cast Endure Elements on those who think they'll be cold...though in that case, you might as well make the raft. I don't care either way.

I'd be happy to enlighten you. The plan is called IF WE WANT TO STAY ALIVE WE'VE GOT TO BE ABLE TO WORK AS A TEAM AND DEPEND ON EACH OTHER. You; unfortunately, have always got something nasty to say, and usually it's about how stupid you think we are, though clearly you're no paragon of common sense.

No one is making you stay with us. If you think you'll do better with other people, feel free to go find them. When the sh*t hits the fan, I know that Haplo and Rolecks and Midna have my back, but I feel like I'm just as liable to get knifed by you if it'll get you ahead somehow. If you're not in a bloody hurry, and don't need to be anywhere, I don' t want to hear any more complaining about how you don't have time for me to find the temple of MY GD and help ONE OF MY BROTHERS. I don't CARE if you don't care about Erastil. If you're part of a group, what is important to one of us is respected by the others. And it's not like I want to be the 'leader', because there's nothing I want less. I'm just pointing out what we all should know.

As for the water, I don't need a 'magical time warping clothesline', city slicker. If you haven't noticed, I know how to survive in the wilderness, and I don't need a scroll to quickly make a fire. The wood on the opposite bank isn't wet, and it won't take me any time to get a nice bonfire going - certainly not two days. I've done crossings like this before, and I know we can survive without problem, OR I WOULDN'T HAVE SUGGESTED IT.

You want to make a bridge? Fine. You want to make a raft? Fine. Just learn how to be halfway decent. I'm tired of all your crap. All it's doing is making the group weaker, and that'll end up with us being dead.

looks dismissively at Bill Most of us didn't grow up with fancy heated baths and servants and whatever else you're used to. Who's whining now? It's cold water, true. If you want to spend a few days building a bridge, be my guest. Just spare me the constant complaints about how we're not getting places as fast as you'd like.

btw I didn't adjust the statustracker

Let's cross this thing already and get going. I can help everyone out by casting Guidance before they jump in the water.

gets up slowly

Boy, it's nice to be alive.

Well, let's see what we can do. Rolecks - Haplo - Midna - let me see if I can help you out a little bit.

Rolecks 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Haplo 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Midna 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Actually, I'm not the best at talking crazy people out of the trees, and Bill here can be a little abrasive at times, so maybe we should try and keep quiet. I think Rolecks should do the talking, with his weapon put away...you can keep to the trees, hidden, and get ready to let off a few arrows if anything happens.

***looks around to see what everyone else is doing***

I think we should make a plan of action. It'll be important not to seem aggressive, but we should be prepared, in case this hermit is crazy.

Oh, and I'm glad that annoying clover ran away.
