Appearance:
Liam stands perhaps a bit short for his race. His skin is a light green shade with his short, spiky hair a darker shade of green. On closer inspection, it looks like the tips of his hair might have been burnt off at some point. Despite appearing mostly clean, he generally has a few soot smudges somewhere that he's missed. When he speaks, it's with a light Irish accent. Personality:
Liam has never been much of a fighter; he considers himself more of a poet. While he generally dislikes violence, his loyalty to his friends often seems to put him in the thick of battle as he attempts to distract opponents to give his friends the upper hand. All of his dancing about as a distraction seems to suit him as he rarely seems to remain still, almost always toying with one thing or another.
Despite the prejudiced he often faces for his race, he's a generally good-natured fellow. At first glance it would appear that this is because the insults go right over his head. But some of wondered if part of the reason why he spends so much time reading works of fiction isn't to escape into a fantasy realm. All of his reading has left him somewhat of a dreamer. He wants to follow in the footsteps of all the great heroes he's read about, and though he would never admit it, part of him is hoping that his good deeds will get him famous enough that people will stop judging him by his appearance.
Back Story:
Liam never knew his parents. From what he could gather, he was dropped off by someone in a Halfling village in Kyonin (A quick Google search suggested this as the Pathfinder version of Ireland). Somehow or another, he never had quite figured out the exact details, his parent had convinced them that he wasn't a Tiefling, but instead, something else. What else exactly he was never sure of since the story seemed to change depending on who he talked to (he was never quite sure if this was all part of some prank or if the villagers legitimately remembered different things).
But as was bound to happen his true heritage came out. There was scandal, of course. But after a few weeks it started to die down. After all, how could they punish the "wee lad" for who his parents were? It's not like he had ever shown the slightly inclination towards his demonic side. And that would have been the end of that, if it weren't for the fact that the children of the village quickly discovered that they could get away with anything by blaming it on him. Things started out harmlessly enough. Just some simple, childish pranks. But as time went on, the pranks got more and more serious. Rumors and whispers started to spread throughout the village. When a failed prank resulted in the accidental death of one of the other children, despite his protests of innocence, the villagers drove Liam out. Heartbroken, Liam started to wander about. As he was still young for a Tiefling, he was eventually taken to an orphanage. There he hoped to regain the sense of family and happiness he had lost. But it was not to be. Instead, he was often bullied and teased, for though he was part demon, he was hardly intimidating to look at. Things got bad enough that he took to hiding out in the library, reading. Here would be a good place for Liam to meet another party member who comes in to read as well and starts up a conversation. Spurred on by his friends, when he came of age Liam left to join the Pathfinder Society, hoping to become like one of the many heroes he had spent so much time reading about. |
