1:Mostly because this place is so dull... it's why I went travelling in the first place, but so far I've been a little worried about leaving Varisia alone. Did you know there are places where undead are given the same rights as people? Crazy... Where was I? Right! With my friends, I could leave and still keep a piece of home with me.

2:Not in a game, been trying to get into a lot of them. And God do I agree with what Patcher said. I'm sick of DMing all the time.

Ryuko here. I think I'd actually rather apply with this concept. Leto's a good kid and he didn't get a chance in my last campaign. I'll change the heck oughta his stats and story to fit it, but this should suffice to give you an idea.

1. Why are you in Sandpoint? Are you visiting or a local?

I'm just returning to visit some friends, it's been a really long time since I saw the crowd back at the Rusty Dragon in a truly long while.

2. Which NPC are you connected to?

Well I suppose I know just about all of them. Ameiko I've met several times, and she's such a fun girl. Koya practically raised me, and I borrowed one of her books to learn to summon Tabak, so I owe her for my best friend in the world. Sandru's almost like a brother, since we were both raised by Koya. I don't know much about Shalelu, but man she is a pretty one isn't she? She met with Koya sometimes, but I never really got the chance to talk to her.

3. How would you describe your personality?

I'm... well... I guess pretty curious. Sometimes to a bad degree I suppose. I talk a bit too much, I'm lucky Tabak is here to shut me up before I say stupid things sometimes.

4. What will your character contribute to the group?

Well I'm pretty good at magic. I can help other people more than the big flashy things that I've seen most mages and such do, but I'll help when I can. Tabak is a lot more... scary when he's fighting. Big guy can really tear some people up when he needs to.

5. What are your plans for your character mechanically? I don't need to know a level-by-level progression, but where are you taking him/her?

I'm planning on exploring my bond with Tabak as much as I can and developing my arcane talents.

6. What is your day job?

I've been... travelling for a while... I uh... do magic sometimes for coin. I mean... it's not a job but... it's nice for some money sometimes.

EDIT: Changed the profile to fit a little better. Still need to add a history, but I'll get that in soon.

I am fine with the retcon to right before the boy died, first post responding remains, second post is retconned.

Leto holds up a hand, staying Tabak. "I understand why you may worry, Smemdor, but the boy has been sentenced to die. I am simply ending his suffering." Leto's eyes, dark and stormy, turn to Alaric. "As for you, I have heard of cursed items, but I have also heard of some who would blame their crimes on magic. I will be watching you." His anger is palpable as he watches the ring burn.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

I apologize, having missed the information where Ry healed the boy and Alaric awakened, I moved on under the previous assumption. That said, I feel that the only change would have been an issue between me and Ry. Leto is angry, as, to his eyes and his IC knowledge, Alaric just tortured a child with a spell. The child was already sentenced for death, and thus, to Leto, he was simply ending the child's suffering quickly. Healing the boy would have simply extended his suffering. That would not change in my actions. That said, retconning might be called for, since my character, Ry, Smemdor, and Alaric, likely have a bit more to work out, and I must say that if Brett is going to come to his aid we may end up with a dead or wounded Leto, because in this situation, with no explanation or motive, Alaric is a bad guy, as is anyone helping him. So yes, I recommend retcon. Just my two cents.

Sense Motive:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

"So you're a torturous bastard, good for you." Leto says angrily as Tabak removes the bandit's head. "Oleg, if I might borrow some of your rope?" As he takes some Leto helps Smemdor tie the unconscious sorcerer's arms, making sure to bind his fingers to prevent spellcasting. "Tabak, clean up this mess." Leto says, tying off the last knot. To think I had liked this man. I thought perhaps we were of the same cloth, though we had our differences. I guess not all bastards grew up as well adjusted as I. "Could someone fill me in on what he said. While I may not agree with the way it was obtained, information is invaluable in and of itself." The young half-elf takes a second to check on Gideon's claim, seeing the same result. "No magic, yet he had that effect. Any of you heard of that sort of thing before?" He looked over the others, obviously having a bit more wariness after this fiasco.

Poor Alaric, don't worry, you won't be lynched. Though it'll take you a damn long time to gain any trust from Leto again. And you may have to sit out this fight tied to a chair lol.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Tabak bursts in the door to the common room. "Little one, you must come see this." Leto asks no questions, grabbing his journal in one swift move and coming out the door after the giant. "Alaric!" The boy says, shocked by the scene. "Bandit or no, the man is a human being. I will not be a party to this!" His eyes are a dark sea with flashes like lightning. His rage is palpable. "I understood the need for information, but torture is not the appropriate method. Tabak, end this." He makes a commanding motion, and Tabak steps forward, drawing his huge blade from his back, obviously meaning to carry out an execution by the sword, and end the mans suffering.

I thought it would be polite to allow a chance to stop it. If no one does within the next couple hours, poor Tim is dead.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Leto has a crossbow, and 7 elemental blasts a day. He's not incredibly good with either, but he will be helping at range. Damn making an RP character who sucks at combat lol.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

I'm fine with that pace, I haven't posted much recently as I didn't have much to do with what was going on and all of my posts I thought of putting up seemed a bit pointless. I try to avoid being involved in every little thing. Also am fine with Sunday. Also Smemdor, has the plan changed? I believed we were letting them in, then ambushing them. Blocking the gate seems counter productive to that. Bar seems a good idea, just to throw up after they're in. Just need clarification if the battle plan changed.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Well, a shame my gf was over and I missed out on the interrogation. Oh well. Also: When will we be getting together to do the bandit encounter/ambush/whatever? Just wanting to know a little early.

Leto avoids taking part in the interrogation, instead directing and helping Tabak to clear the yards, and oiling the hinges on the ancient gate to his satisfaction, so that they fold open and shut with very little resistance. He is sightly annoyed by the treatment of the bandits, but not to overly concerned. I suppose we do need this information, and the men have consigned themselves to death. Leto's thoughts weigh heavy but he knows that a good ruler must protect his subjects, even when doing so requires messy sacrifices of one's own moral fiber.

After getting all he can think of done, Leto sends Tabak to stand near the interrogations, alert to any problems and unnerving by his mere presence, and then goes inside to chronicle the events in his journal in a messy, tight scrawl. This is where anyone else finds him, though he is ready to move to the wall at a moments notice.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Yes we are. Many of Golarion's countries tend to line up near to countries in the real world. This, combined with the fueding nobles theme and names, (Orlovsky, Lodovka, Medvyed, Surtova) have always led me to think of Brevoy as either Russia, or one of the smaller East European countries (Bulgaria, Ukraine, Estonia). So yes, rather cold climates coming our way.

If the hit is successful, the lad going for his bags is the one wounded. If not, the world may never know WHO was fired on!

This makes me a tad sad that I didn't get to play my gunslinger. This would've been entirely his strategy. I tell you, if Leto is ever, dead/critically wounded/crippled/unplayable due to having turned against us (A possibility, I will be playing him as a kid, and his developement will have a lot to do with how the early storyline plays out) I'm making me a gunslinger.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Leto nods at Alaric's plan. "While I still feel we may have been better to speak to them beforehand, and perhaps shed less blood, if we must fight, that sounds like the way to do it." He motions to the giant. "Tabak is strong enough to close the gates, possibly with a bit of help from me, though my mighty thews aren't quite what they could be." He jokingly flexes. [b]"I suppose this plan is the best we have.

Are the buildings in this area roofed in thatch or tar? I wouldn't want this place to go up in flames, though I admit Leto could probably help immensely with that. If the fort is flamnable, I'll ask Oleg to make some anti fire preparations, like putting a bit of water out.

YIKES! QUICK NOTE TO LETO's CHARACTER

DUDE! I don't have your character sheet. Please forward it on to me at "Dain120475@aol.com" I can't seem to find it anywhere, though I may have missed it. Apologies for the inconvience.

AAhh... can't believe I forgot that. Sending it to you now.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

"While I prefer to leave them alive and afraid, I see your point Alaric. A good plan. I have no similar powers I'm afraid, most of my magic is focusing on making my allies, like Tabak here, more powerful. However I do see that if you are capable of these things, we would be better to end them now. In that case I may be beside the lady instead. I am an expert negotiator, but up close..." Leto pulls a face. "Let's just say I'd rather not let them get within blades reach. If we are sure this should become an ambush, perhaps we can keep a similar formation, but with me and Alaric's positions switched. Or perhaps Smemdor as our representative."

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Leto pores over the questions for a bit. "Apologies Smemdor, I know little of Dwarves, but by your attitude I would suppose your armor marks you as more than common. However, Alaric's suggestion of hiding you and Tabak eliminates this particular problem. No one else will know of your position if they never see you." At Tess's comment Leto smiles,
"I'd love to have such a beautiful lady at my side, but I'd feel even better if you were able to use the marksmanship I have heard the elves are famous for."
Leto listens intently to the questions, obviously deep in thought, his eyes reflecting this with the deep blue of deep ocean. "Keeping them outside the walls seems antagonistic, I say we allow them. As for finding out why, I can certainly attempt that in my negotiations. Closing the gate seems a bad idea, we are trying to appeal to their rationale, slamming the door behind them turns them into rats in a trap, and enemies backed into a corner can be far more dangerous than those with an escape." The boy rubs a scrap of red ribbon on his arm. "Knowing how handy Tabak is, having heard of the dwarves martial abilities, hearing tales of elven archery, and feeling Alaric's strength myself... I believe we will be fine to keep them together, so long as they do not outnumber us by more than one or two. If so... perhaps hit them and then fade between the buildings, to keep them from grouping. All we require for now is for us to bloody their noses a bit, make them think that perhaps there is easier prey elsewhere. As to letting them have their way...." Leto's eyes rise to Oleg. "I swear to you, sir. While I draw breath these bandits will not take anything more of yours. Furthermore, I will do all in my power to return the symbol of your love to your wife." Leto bows a courtly, graceful bow. He pulls his hands into a grand gesture, "Come, my fellows, let's make these bandits think twice about moving against us. We begin taking this land back here. If they run, I say let them. Let them leave, taking word of the new warriors in this land. The men, and women, who will send them shaking in fear, before we send them screaming from our lands." Leto's face is split by a fierce, righteous grin through his speech, and he looks about, watching for the others reaction to his passionate speech.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

"An excellent idea," Leto says with a smile, "That way the bandits do not even realize there is a threat until our friends fall upon them. I like the way you think, Winter." A bright smile is flashed at the sorcerer.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Snapping from his fugue Leto looks up. "Are you all right Alaric?" He gets the man a bit more coffee and pushes it toward him, hoping to steady him. After seeing he seems ok, the young half-elf thinks a moment.

"We may be able to turn them back, not by strength of arms but with a simple call of reason. After all, they must know that we cannot be the only ones sent from Brevoy, and that striking directly against the government, in the form of our persons, would only bring retribution of a form they could not handle." Thinking for a moment he eyes those around him, sizing up strength and weakness in an instant. "Alaric, are you well to fight? You and Tess would be best standing at the wall, hidden as best you can. Myself, Tabak and Smemdor can wait in the house. Upon the bandits arriving I will unleash the full force of my persuasive endeavors. I believe I could pass myself as a Brevic noble easily enough." With a half crooked grin he points to the mark on his cheek. "And, if agreeable, perhaps our dwarven friend and my giant can be seen as my bodyguards. A simple enough stratagem, to keep them on their toes. Should they attack, I will step back, allowing you and Tabak to fight on the direct, while the pair on the walls can support with ranged fire, as will I when at a safe distance." He pulls water from his hand again and hardens it into an icy spike. "I am not quite so helpless as I look, and these men may have to learn that sooner or later, the strong will stand with the weak." After allowing the dagger to melt back into water, which he drinks. "Still, the less bloodshed from these people the better. Revenge only begets further revenge." His eyes cloud for a moment, thinking of the dark rivalries he has seen within the Brevic houses. Then brightens once more. "Either way, these men must be turned back, and I feel my plan may work rather well. Is this agreeable with all of you? We can work in the others if they return before the bandits." Leto grins eagerly about at the others, happy to prove his worth.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

As a wave of water rushes forward Leto's eyes, watery as they were before, snap open. The water freezes in a half dome about him. "I will be out in a moment." He says, allowing the water to fall harmlessly away from his things. Water again today. I don't understand why it changes, and I still can't see a pattern to it.

After spending one minute calling Tabak, and bringing up the Mark on his cheek: "Morning Tabak, your blade is in the corner. Perhaps we should join the others for food." With that Leto helps his friend take up his pack and strap on his sword and then heads into the main house, yawning. "Hmm, this fare is delicious Oleg, but where is your cook?" he asks curiously, looking around for the little fellow.

"I would absolutely help with the bandits Oleg. Any who prey on the weak in their land need to be taken care of." His watery eyes focused, alert and watchful, I suppose I should have a look around, after all, this area was once a fort. Could these fortifications be built up a bit with help? Or any ideas of yours will likely be more helpful of course. You know the area better than I." Leto sits back, fiddling with his breakfast and listening closely.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Since I don't see Leto as much the wake at dawn, or sleep in the stable type, nothing there. Also thanks Tess for basically saying you answer all questions. Roleplaying a super questioning yung'n was kind of annoying me now. He'll still do that if he get's excited, just sated for now.

Also decided I'm going to roll each day for what color/element I'm rolling with that day, unless I have a compelling reason to choose one. 1:Fire, 2:Earth, 3:Water, 4:Air. 1d4 ⇒ 3

Well damn, still water today. Ok then, just chipping in.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Leto perks up in an almost comical manner when Tess invites him to her room, then pales at what she says soon after. "Um... no, of course, just talking. That's fine." His eyes go the murky blue of a half-stagnant pond. "It would be improprietous of me to do anything else. Anyhow," The boy continues as they head to her room, "what's that word you keep using? Forlorn? Sounds a bit like a slur to me..." he motions to Tabak to follow him to his room and the giant does so without comment. "Do you know anything about elves with reddish eyes?" He asks, suddenly serious, the grin falling for the first time completely from his face. He thought silently about the scrap of painting he had stolen that was still in his backpack on Tabak's back. The artist had painted his supposed father's eye red. Tabak claimed it was likely a drop of spilled paint, or a mistroke, but Leto wasn't sure. I wonder if his eyes changed, like mine started to after that night. Maybe a day or two later they were blue, and then that brown green, or grey. He chewed his lip in thought. Should I show her what else I can do... I've seen mages do similar things, but I can feel it... the air, the earth, the water... and fire. Maybe she knows that. He raised a hand and opened his mouth, then shut it. No. I have no idea what I'd be admitting to. Demons, devils, dark fey. Plenty of things can do that. Best to keep quiet for now. The boy listened for his answer and held his tongue.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Oohh... poor kid, he's not gonna like that lol. Oh well.

"Oh... my uh... parents. Well, my father was an elf, I don't know him at all, he was just travelling through. My mother... well... she was married.... and..." Leto trails off, obviously very embarrassed to discuss it. "I was more raised by... the others of my village. North is a bastard name, given to children around the Eyrie." His eyes turn downcast, but then perk up quickly. "But... I'm sure you don't want to hear about my boring village life. How about you? A traveller? A warrior?" He stops, his head tilted in thought. "Do elves let thier women fight? I never knew that. I thought women couldn't fight as well as men. Did you fight demons? I've heard there are demons in a land near the elves." The boys grin is infectious as he questions everything. "Is it true elves don't need to sleep? I've sometimes had odd dreams or gone a day or two without sleep, so I thought maybe those rumors were true. I'm... not very familiar with my uh... exotic side." His large blue eyes seem to have forgotten the others for the moment. The poor boy only has eyes for Tessara.

Answer::
It's actually all explained in the Player's Guide, which you can pick up as a free pdf right here on the site. I'd recommend it, just to see some things we'll be dealing with, including some info on the kindgdom building coming far later.

"That's... quite all right..." Leto is entranced when he sees the new woman, her hair pulled back and her pointed ears and large, elven eyes visible.

I feel a little sorry for you lol, Leto's going to treat you like a queen. It'll make sense if you read the backstory, but he's wanted to see an elf his whole life and now a pretty and young looking one walks in lol.

Leto snapped out of his thoughts, snapping his jaw closed as he did. Don't just sit there like some country yokel, idiot. She's probably seen a thousand and one half-elves, so don't act like such an idiot. Noticing a lack of readily available chairs, does this inn ever get this much business at once? Leto gallantly, and a bit awkwardly, stands and motions toward his. "Have my seat, milady. My name is Leto and this is Tabak." He motions to the giant, who appears to roll his eyes and nods politely. "It's nice to be out of the rain and there's food here and if you'd like I could dry you off with a bit of magic." Leto's eyes look as though the waves have been kicked into stormy tempests now and his face was lit in a huge grin between his blushing cheeks.

Tabak took the boy aside a moment, "Give the lady her space, little one. No one likes to be badgered." His ponderous voice still fairly hearable even at whispering volume. The young summoner calmed himself a bit, breathing deeply. "I'm sorry, old friend, but when we spoke of elves no one told me their women were so beautiful." His eyes peeked under his friends arm to continue studying the new girl as he played with his scarf.

Since I have occasionally had problems with this sort of thing, let me make sure it's understood this is purely in character. I felt this would be a fun bit of roleplaying. I have my own gf and am not attempting to flirt, but to me it makes sense that Leto would respond this way to pretty much any female elf. Also, I and Leto will not be too bothered if you don't find this amusing and your character chooses not to notice/shuts him down. Just making sure we keep it friendly. Cheers!

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

"Greater respect!" Leto downs half his glass at the toast, head a bit low. "And High Above..." he whispers down into his own drink, thinking on his family. Such odd fellows. And all seem to be rather open. Nothing like speaking to the nobles, each one of them looks like a noble but acts like the staff. Except that one, his eyes focused on the half-orc But what can you expect but discourtesy, he is a half-orc. Perhaps he'll get over it. Leto rubbed the bright blue Orlovsky house mark on his temple as he pondered, hoping no one hear knew enough to recognize it.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Leto turned as he realized the staff man's race. "A half-orc? Yet another wonder." He muttered into his soup. "I've never seen so many new things in one day." He offered some bread to Tabak, who, as always, declined. "Is it true what they say about your kind?" Leto asks, obviously not realizing his discourtesy. "I've heard some of you are as powerful as Tabak." Leto's eyes rolled in waves as he swung them around the new group. "Irondale? That's rather like the Eyrie isn't it? I was born around there, stayed there my whole life before coming here. Mountainous, cold, dreadful at times. But it's home." Leto idly tapped his hanbo on the floor. "And what's this talk of bandits? I had heard some were here, and it is in the charter to deal with them I suppose. Tabak will do most of my heavy lifting, but I'm afraid I have to be near him or he gets so weak as to be useless in a scuffle. Terrible, true, but I have a bit of arcane skill, just keep the brutes from me and I can help out." The boy smiled and pulled the moisture from his hair with a wave of his arm, pulling it in small drops and then making them spin. "Making others more powerful is my specialty, but I haven't learned much." He spun the drops faster and faster until he lost one, then another. They splashed across the room, wetting a couple people. [b]"Oh... uh... ooops."{/b] The boy said with a huge embarrassed grin.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

"So... did everyone here get a charter from Brevoy?" Leto looked around at the odd gathering. Ry, a pretty girl with a small griffin, Winter, another bastard with a smile almost as charming as his and... the thought trailed off as he saw a big, very ugly man with a staff walk in. "Wow... this post is getting quite the large amount of traffic today isn't it? Are you often this busy, Svetlana? Brett?" He tapped his hanbo against the ground idly, leaning back after finishing a bit of his meal. "Sit down Tabak, you're making everyone nervous." he said, slightly irritated at the giant looming around them. "The chairs, Leto. I am too large for one." Leto's grin faded a bit, he had forgotten how tough things were for Tabak sometimes. "Forgive me, friend, I hadn't meant to be offensive."

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Walking into the large common room Leto smiles nervously at the people inside. "Um... hello all." He ducked his head and when Tabak ducks into the door he turns a bit, "And this is Tabak, my uh... guardian." The boy studies the other guests, eyes moving slightly as if waves moved in his huge blue irises, until the little head poked from the young woman's cloak. "Is that... is that a griffon?!?" Leto's thin face lit with wonder and he moved quickly to her. "Oh my god I've never seen a griffon... rather small isn't he? Look at his beak. I've heard a full grown one can tear a horse in half with one bi..." He trails off as he realizes that, unintentionally in his excitement, he had moved his head much closer to the young woman's chest than he had intended to. His face blushing a bright and painful red he stumbled back. "Oh, I am so sorry, I never meant to... I mean.... I just..." He stopped, obviously composing himself. "Breathe young one." Tabak's thunderous voice said. Biting his lip, young Leto smiled at the woman, charm back on in full force, "I'm so sorry milady. I was so entranced by your griffin I hadn't noticed how inappropriate I had been." He extended one slender, pale hand. "My name is Letohandrines North milady, and you are?" He smiled, obviously recovering from his faux pas.

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Leto walks with a smile on his face through the dark rain. This is so different from the rain back home. There it just falls in those tiny showers, but here. "It's like I'm standing under a bucket." The half-elf says, his eyes bright blue. "I've never even seen a land like this. Look at those hills, the swamps over there. Do you think they have crocodiles?" He raises his head to look at the figure beside him, who sinks into the mud with each ponderous step. "Not likely little one. Most of this area would be more alligator country." Tabak the guardian says, his voice ponderous and slow as his footsteps.

Leto's eyes light up and the rain seems to sluice off him in an unnatural instant. "Alligators? How is that different? Are they bigger? Longer? Smarter?" He continued to discuss the various merits of alligators and crocodiles with Tabak all the way to the gate.

Well this is inviting... Leto thought with a tiny frown, but he didn't let it get him down for too long. Pulling his long and vibrant scarf higher around his neck he chirped, "Hullo there!!" vibrantly over the storm as he pulled the bell. "I've got coin and it'd be nice to dry off a bit."

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Hello all, figured this might be a good idea so we can avoid cluttering the main thread. Feel free to post or not, I just tend to be post happy with OOC discussions and would rather leave them out of the IC thread.

That said, has anyone given though to roles in the kingdom yet? I would love to play Leto North, The Boy King, but I claim no special title to it. I would fit well as the Grand Diplomat as well, and in many others since lots of them can use Charisma. Just wondering.

Also I'm really going to have a very changing character in Leto here, since I have heard Kingmaker stretches across many years I'm extremely excited to see what direction I take with him. I could see it going many ways depending on how things shore up. Anyone else have some things like this thought out?

Male Half-Elf Druid 1

Wow... I am rather pleased with this. Good hook for backstory too. I'll say right off that I have no idea what you're planning to do with my story, I intentionally put in several hooks for you, and am glad to see an awesome use to them. I guess I'll go put that in my char sheet and such.

Also, my email is ryuko_kun@yahoo.com

EDIT: While I rather enjoy my item and it's backstory, I think it may be simpler not to include bonus feats in it. It would require a significant reworking of my character every day, and make me even more powerful than seems from the other characters, basically granting me most of the sorcerer class features. Would it be all right if I only got powers and bonus spells? Just attempting to simplify a bit, I don't want 4 character sheets.

EDIT 2: I made an OOC thread to discuss the game here. Thought it might be a good idea, feel free to post.

Also in central standard. Also okay with Skype, and can't wait to begin tonight. Leto is practically jumping out of his chair. Good to go!

He is indeed. Dain, I'll be heading to bed for tonight, but I felt the need to point out... me and the other new recruits don't have our specialty item yet. I for one am extremely curious/excited. Just something we should get taken care of before we get to playing tomorrow night.

This is Ryuko btw, just in case you didn't catch it. Just wanting to verify and be certain. I'm up and ready to play whenever we begin.

Description:
Tabak stands about 6'8", with his ultra dense form weighing an astonishing 350 pounds. He looks much like a man in his late thirties or early forties, with dark salt and pepper hair. However this veneer is ruined when it is realized that all of it seems to be carved of plastic. The hair never moves, And his clothes and armor move purely with his movements instead of any outside motivation. Tabak acts like a father figure to Leto, speaking as a more wise, older man.

Description:

Leto is a curious kid, taking a lot of random items and incorporating them into his wardrobe. He has green snakeskin boots, red leather gloves and his sensible brown leather armor is covered in small gems, ribbons and swatches of cloth he enjoys. Physically he is slight and pale, with huge green eyes framed by his flowing brown hair, which he mostly pulls back in a ponytail. His face is most often split into a wide grin, whether of triumph, mirth, curiousity or knowledge. He is very open and punctuates most movements with large arm gestures and huge animated dialogues.

History:

Duke Darren Orlovsky and his wife Anna were a happy couple, who ruled a small duchy and were mostly at peace with thier lives, until they attempted to have a child. For whatever reason, they could not. This made them extremely sad, and they combed the land for anyone who could turn away this curse and give them an heir.
Many answered the call, priests and wizards, charlatans and alchemists, but none could turn the couple fertile. Eventually a new man came to the Keep, an elven bard with no name. He told the couple that, for the right price, he could give them a child. The excited couple gave the Bard all he asked for, money, jewels, women and more. He, in turn, took the Lady Anna into the forests around the Keep, and was never seen again. The Lady returned cold, pale and terified, babbling incoherently until she lost consciousness. Upon awaking she remembered nothing of the incident, but soon thereafter grew heavy with child. The Duke was delighted, until the child was born.

The baby was healthy and happy, but was born with huge elven eyes and the pointy fey ears that were common to half-elves. Immediately the Duke was furious. How could his wife have a child with an elven stranger? He gave his wife a choice. Keep the baby and take care of it in squalor, or give up the child and remain at his side.

Anna had only married the Duke in order to gain a noble name, and the comforts that came with it, so the choice was an easy one, but Anna made one stipulation. Little Leto would always have a guardian to care for him. The Duke assigned one of his guardsmen to the task.

And so things were until Leto was sixteen years old, when the Duke became fed up. A true heir, Steven, had just been born and the expense of keeping his bastard son protected was vast, and he wasn't willing to do it anymore. He called the court wizard, Roland and asked him to find a solution. Roland was a crafty man, and while he liked the boy, he knew that even with the young half-elf's small natural ability with magic, teaching him wizardry would take many years and be very difficult. So instead Roland came up with a clever plan. He taught Leto a simple ritual, to call his own protector.

Leto summoned a creature he began to call Tabak, who took a form curiously similar to that of his previous guardian, a large man in heavy armor with a huge blade. As an unexpected side effect, the symbol of the house of Orlovsky appeared on his cheek, and the eidolon's chest, when he summoned it.

To Darren this was the last straw, his bastard son openly claiming the Orlovsky name when his true heir was born could be a major problem for him, particularly when the young boy was so charming and had so many friends among the palace staff and guardsmen. Looking and seeing the possibility of civil war in his own duchy, the Duke decided that since his son was now protected, he could easily get him gone. His son was soon given a charter to explore the Stolen Lands.

Leto had little choice, he did not want to cause any problems for his new half-brother, and besides, this place would never be his true home. Leto left, saying goodbye to Roland and his mother, and all of his friends in the keep, and set out toward the Stolen Lands with the others who had received a charter.

Character Survey:

Where was your character born? Eyrie Keep, ancestral home of the Orlovsky family. Leto has lived more of his life in the surrounding city of Chyormoz.
Who raised him? Mostly Guardsman Padan, who was assigned to guard him. He also had many visits from his mother and knew her well. Later in life Roland, the court Wizard had more input as well

What was happening in the region when your character was growing up? The standard feuding of the families in Brevoy, though much of it was over Leto's head.

Does your character have any relatives? The Orlovsky family, though as a bastard he has little in the way of contact or legitimacy with them.

Motivation

What are your character’s immediate goals? What would he like to do in the coming year? Establish a niche for himself. Leto had fun in the Eyrie and enjoyed his friends there, but ugly looks from his father and problems with legitimacy has kept him from finding any sort of very close friend until Tabak was called.

What are her long-term goals? To establish his own legitimacy, or possibly begin his own noble house. More importantly, to convince his previous family that he has no designs on taking anything from his half-brother Steven.

What type of person would be his ideal mate? Leto has so far had very little in the way of thoughts about the opposite sex, though that's likely to change within the first year or two.

Who is his patron deity? Is he a devout worshiper? Desna, and Leto knows little of the church, but the god's goodness and chaotic nature are similar to his. He believes the bard from his tale may be a servant or creature of hers, though he fears the answer may be darker.

Is he a devout member of any nonreligious cause? Not particularly

Is there any race, creed, alignment, religion or the like against which he is strongly prejudiced? Leto wishes very much to get in touch with his elven half, which is difficult in Brevoy. He also has only heard stories of many other races and believes half-orcs to be brutes and scoundrels.

What is his greatest fear? That, driven by his worries and groundless fears, his father might believe he needs to die, and directly or indirectly be involved in such a death.

What is the one task he absolutely refuses to do? Kill or enslave an innocent creature. He would rather die.

Idiosyncrasies

What is your character’s motto or favorite saying? Leto is often heard whispering his family motto "High Above" though generally under his breath to avoid anyone connecting him to a name he has no true right to.

What is his favorite color? Deep blue

Describe what he would wear if money were no object? Likely an odd hodgepodge. Leto has very little fashion sense, though his outfits tend to look rather good on him regardless.

What is his favorite food? Drink? Leto loves oysters, he used to sneak them from the table in the Eyrie. He also enjoys elven wine, which he's only had once.

What is his favorite animal? He once had a cat, and he'd like another. Though he has heard of these weird creatures called Carbuncles.

What habits of his friends annoy him most? He hates drunks, as well as those who are uncaring when someone or something is hurt. Anything else will have to find when he meets them

Personality/Beliefs

Do you, or did you, have any role models? Many. From the staff Leto learned to fight, do magic and tell a story. From his father he learned the iron rod of command, and how to be a leader. From his mother he learned the nicer sides of leadership, from banquets to diplomacy.

Do you have any great rational or irrational fears or phobias? Leto is terrified he is the spawn of some kind of Demon or Devil. He also hates frogs. Creepy slimy little things.

What, if anything, would it take for you to be able to overcome this? To learn the truth. And nothing for frogs... damn things are so ugly.

How do you react when this fear manifests itself? With disgust and extremely not wanting to touch them.

Are you willing to discuss, or even admit to, the situation? Very reluctant about frogs. Never discusses his fears regarding his heritage.

Do you act differently than you feel (concealing your true thoughts)? Leto does not do this often.

Is there anything that enrages you? Mistreatment of those in your protection. A leader exists to protect his people, whether it be a husband, a father, a general or a king.

What would you do if something were stolen from you? Depending on it's personal value. High personal value I would find and get it back, punishing the thief if I believed he deserved it. Low personal value, Leto would shake it off and deal with it... it's a shame but nothing that can't be replaced.

Have you ever been persecuted for your political stance? Leto has never had much of a stance so no.

Do you have any unusual or nervous mannerisms, such as when talking, thinking, afraid, under stress, or when embarrassed? Leto tends to pace, especially when nervous or explaining something. He unconsciously mimics Roland the wizard and falls into textbook dry speaking when he is reciting things he has learned. He often rubs his mark when he's thinking of his eidolon or his family.

What is your most treasured possession? A scrap of painting, stolen from a rubbish bin. The painter had captured the banquet in which his elven father had showed himself. Even when the Duke bought and destroyed the painting Leto treasures this scrap that shows half of his true fathers face.

Do you have a good luck charm? The family words seem to be lucky for Leto

Do you prefer to tear down or build up? Most certainly build up.

Are you deliberate or spontaneous? Youthfully spontaneous. Sometimes foolishly so.

Do you prefer the town or the country? Cities. That's where you find the people.

If made to decide, would you rather be deaf or blind? Why? Blind. Your eyes may decieve you, but a true man knows the secret is in listening to others, not seeing them. He learned that from Guardsman Padan.

Describe your worst nightmares. Leto has a recurring nightmare in which his father pronounces him a threat to young Steven and runs him through with the family blade. Duke Darren then turns into Leto's elven father and laughs, telling Leto that his brothers are waiting for him and dropping the boys now run-through body to be eaten by demons.

Sounds good. Just throw up your final character on the formal site mentioned above (below?) this link.
Groovy. I'll go with the Staff Magus. I'll have to build it tomorrow as time permits. Will probably be during my Statistics class. Gotta have priorities after all. lol.

Hey, statistics is the backbone of this entire game. After all "Every action has a 5% chance of total success, and 5% chance of utter failure."
