About Leralesti Murellin

Dwarven Scholar

Stonesinger

Summary:

Leralesti Murellin is a svirfneblin bard from the depths of the mountains West of Daveryn. Wise and somewhat heartless, she spent long periods of her life pretending to be a recluse Dwarvish girl - a traveling merchant across mountains - and learn their scholar secrets of stone singing, in a mix of lying. A worshipper of Asmodeus, she would slowly cemented his teachings around the most naive members of the dwarven cities she'd visit.

Of course she could never do that for long, and eventually she had to flee. Yet, she would do the same routines on the nearby Human cities, for times pretending to be a gnome, Dwarf, or even a short Human (she was a bit too disgusted of elves to go that far). Her lies and blasphemous way of life eventually caught up to her, when the authorities cleverly disguised themselves to play the same game as her, and caught her spreading the Asmodean heresies.

... Weren't they surprised to find out that not only she was a heretic praising against Mitra, but even a svirfneblin in disguise? She was considered dangerous not from a violence point of view, but because of her cleverness, difficulty to be detected, and cunning tongue, and was sent to Brandescar.

Appearance and Behavior:

Leralasti is of average height, with short silver gray hair and large, somewhat bright hazel eyes. She's very skinny, yet agile and muscular; one of those individuals with a lot of stamina besides her complete lack of true physical strength. She's not attractive, and likely even a bit more menacing than the usual svirfneblin.

As most members of her race, Leralesti has a stoic demeanor. She isn't "all there", but she is far from the archetypical crazy gnome: she's more gloom, schemy, pessimistic, and pragmatic. While she wouldn't be opposed to the eventual arson and assassinate here and there, she's more about long planning and execution.

Role and Mechanics:

As a bard, Leralesti is much more of a buffer and skill monkey than a combatant per se. She's a different type of bard, though, as its her wisdom - not her charisma - that drives her art; her main performance is about empowering her allies by giving them her combat feats, while debuffing the enemies with her powers of the depth.

She can't do much damage at all and is more on the squishy side, and even her spells aren't really too offensive; the plan is for her to grow to add some control spells as well, but mostly her focus will stay on buffing her allies and hiding behind their wall of strength. Her entire performance is a speech of intrigue and hatred inspired by the teachings of Asmodeus, which she does by humming and singing through rock itself.

Outside of combat, though, I hope she can contribute with good skills, aid another on any knowledge checks, and even serve as a scout or spy with sorts, between her stealthing, nondetection and transformation abilities.

War Chant (Su) At 1st level, a dwarven scholar can use her performance to inspire the martial prowess of the ancient dwarves in her allies. The dwarven scholar selects a single combat feat she knows. Allies affected by this performance gain the benefit of this feat for as long as the performance is maintained. To be affected, an ally must be able to perceive the dwarven scholar’s performance. If a combat feat has a daily use limitation (such as Stunning Fist), any uses of that combat feat by the dwarven scholar’s allies while using this ability counts toward the dwarven scholar’s feat’s daily limit.

Extra Racial Traits

Leralesti got the ability to shape change into a Dwarf, which helped her perform the spying activities she did to become a stonesinger dwarven scholar.

Coming from the depths, the shadows became second nature for her, so she can blend with the shadows in areas of dim light or lower visibility.

----------------------------------------------------

Change Shape, Lesser (3 RP) Members of this race gain the following supernatural ability: A member of this race can assume the appearance of a single form of a single humanoid race of its size. The form is static and cannot be changed each time it takes this form. The creature gains a +10 racial bonus on Disguise checks made to appear as the member of the race whose appearance it assumes. Changing its shape is a standard action. This trait otherwise functions as alter self, save that the creature does not adjust its ability scores.

Shadow Blending (1 RP) Attacks made against members of this race while they are within areas of dim light have a 50% miss chance instead of the normal 20% miss chance. This trait does not grant total concealment; it just increases the miss chance. This is a supernatural ability.
