At the Manor...

Leppin sticks his head out from the children's doorway. "Ah. Would you all mind, um, covering up the casualties before we bring the children down? No reason the tots need to be seeing this sort of thing."

On the way to the Office...

"I can make use of that wand if we're in need of it," the gnome offers helpfully. "...and me and my beautiful red hair will stay with the others this time."

Leppin begins climbing up the rope to the children's room. He looks over his shoulder and says to elf-blooded archer, "Even if he doesn't confess, it's a matter of appearance. We show up with a captured villain we claim is responsible for the murders or we show up with a dead citizen who can't refute us that we claim is responsible for the murders. I'll take my chances with the sheriff believing us over him. Not to mention, the mob wants justice, and they won't get it with a corpse."

He pauses midway up the rope. "Oh, Patros, you should probably wait outside with the captives."

With that, he finishes scurrying up the rope and tumbles amusingly into the children's room. "Sorry you had to hear all that," he says to the children. "I know you're scared and confused."

He kneels down and makes one of their dolls dance using a simple cantrip. "We're not here to hurt you. We came to chase away the bad men. Will you stay here with me while my friends look for your mother and father?"

"Do you have any idea how futile it is now?" Leppin says to the brigand. "You're flailing your swords around in the air, standing in a pool of cooking grease, with a big, red, incriminating rune on your face. Even if you somehow escape, if you don't kill every single one of us, the sheriff is going to find you."

Mock:
Mock (Su): Leppin can make one or more creatures furious with him. Each creature to be mocked must be within 90 feet, able to see, hear, and understand the prankster, and capable of paying attention to him. The prankster must be able to see and hear the creatures affected. For every three levels he has attained beyond 1st, he can target one additional creature with this ability. Will save negates and a successful save prevents another attempt for 24 hours. If the creature’s saving throw fails, it is angered by the performance and seeks to harm the prankster. While the prankster maintains the mocking performance, the target takes -2 penalty on all attack rolls and skill checks until it has successfully attacked the prankster with a melee or ranged attack, or has harmed him with a spell that deals damage. Enchantment (compulsion), mind-affecting ability requiring visual and audible components.

Note on Grease:
While the villain can most likely make the DC 10 Acrobatics check to move without falling, it costs double movement to move on the grease. That means no 5 ft step for the villain, should he want to come after Leppin.

Leppin feints left and then quickly somersaults to the right. Quickly standing, he scurries to a position under the tree and pulls out a small burlap package. He speaks a quick limerick, the package disappears, and a wide pool of grease appears underneath the branded bandit.

Grease:
A grease spell covers a solid surface with a layer of slippery grease. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can't move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed.

"My apologies, children," Leppin says as he scrambles onto the window sill. "The villain is getting away. We will return to make sure you're safe."

He then lowers himself off of the ledge and drops to the ground beside the manor wall, wobbling as he just barely manages to avoid injury.

The gnome then makes a complex sign with his hand and smacks the prone brigand, attempting to mark the man's face with a fiery red arcane sigil.

Melee Touch Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15

Actions:

Move/Free: Intentionally fall 15 ft, Acrobatics to fall 10 ft safely (since damage is in 10 ft increments, I think that's 0 damage).
Standard: Cast arcane mark on the robber's face (so he can be identified if he escapes), no save, lasts 1 month. Melee touch attack vs. prone target. Cast would provoke AoO, but he appears to be unarmed, so unless he has Improved Unarmed Attack or boot blades, he doesn't threaten.
