Whichever ones don't get hit, providing there are two left alive, Lelouch will use Murderous Command on a weakened one to attack the one who looks in best shape.

With a smirk, the Noble boy speaks from the back of the party, as he points to one of the weakened men.

Lelouch commands you...KILL YOUR ALLY!

Well, I'm back as I want to see how effective Lelouch is in this campaign. If he fails miserably I'll leave, but I'm posting in several things at the minute, so I'd like to see how the first combat goes.

Sorry guys, I really liked how this campaign started, but due to issues in a Kingmaker campaign I was happily playing in, they've left me underwhelmed and have ultimately put a spanner in the works for any current and future games/posts on these forums.

I won't be playing Pathfinder anymore, as others have well and truly spoiled things for me, but I wish you all the best, and feel free to GMPC me where needed.

All the best.

Lelouch doesn't drink and Ale is one of the drinks he dislikes most, but he drinks it appreciative of the Dwarf's gesture, saying Thanks with a smile on his face, before turning away as the Half-Elf calls him smelly.

I'm the healthiest and cleanest person here. Why should I answer to this comment?

Gathering information is so bothersome. Half of the people around here probably don't even know their own names. Regardless, if we find someone who genuinely knows something, we'll find our answer. I can be very persuasive.

Lelouch places his hand over one side of his face and looks down in thought.

Lelouch stands up and looks out to the vast Ocean, as he begins to talk to Saren.

Very well. he says, as he takes a moment to think back on the past.

Several of us lived at an orphanage during out younger years, and we were taken away by a supposed member of the Scarred Saints. He could have killed us at any time if he chose, so I don't entirely know if he was bad, but after believing my Father to be dead, he, along with the Order of the Black Sun, turned up and killed the man who lead us astray, telling us of both the Black Sun and the Scarred Saints, further elaborating that we're the successors of The Black Sun and have been chosen to carry on their lineage and purpose, by hunting and killing powerful demons, so that those living in Golarion remain safe. There will be no thanks however, as The Black Sun doesn't exist. It's unknown to all outsiders, as is what we do.

Well yea. I think Othan, that all we needed really was a small paragraph of information, speaking about what the campaign would entail, such as the information given in AP player guides. You know, if you're a Ranger, Favoured Enemies you may want to focus on etc.

I can't really tweak my guy, because if I do, he just becomes a bit bland and would probably turn into a healbot, which I don't play.

I disagree, on the grounds that humans are the most common enemy. They were the safest bet, so the real issue here is that we didn't know what we were facing.

If it doesn't work out, I've been one of the most loyal players so I won't ne in the wrong if I do leave. We'll see how it goes over the next week or so, but there are a lot of issues here, and some are easy to see.

Well, it just doesn't work with my character. If I had the necessary information from the start, I would have made a paladin or Ranger, but I'm just not really feeling this right now and I've thought long and hard about it.

Judeau has said to me he feels the same and as such, it would just be us two left from the original party. There's no convincing me otherwise, but like I said, I'm baring with it right now. It's just not looking hopeful.

I have one issue with this.

Before the campaign began, we weren't told it was a Demon Hunting campaign, and had we been, I would have submitted someone else who isn't entirely focused on taking down other humans.

I want to be honest. I don't really see this working out well, and a lot of things could have been far more descriptive, but I'll see how things go.

One of the main issues here is that it's been dead for a little while now, and most of the good roleplay happened at the start. It was really good between players in fact, but as the players have left, the roleplay has died out and I'm feeling it's almost pointless to continue right now, but I'll hold out for a bit and see how it goes. :)

Just waiting on word from the remaining two then.

This is true, but at the same time if you're not an archer, your death is guaranteed as a melee based character because you cannot reach them to attack them, so at least with a grappling hook, you have a small chance to even the odds.

Considering the height penalties, I'd say that's a pretty fair way to do things. They can kill you and you can insta-kill them....but only if you're successful with a very lucky hit. Though -12 to hit seems a bit much. Touch AC I'd say should be the target though, as you're not trying to get through the armour. You're trying to latch on.

Hmm, it doesn't seem to make much difference either way, but the thing I like about the grappling hook is if I did manage to hook onto the mount instead of the rider, I could effectively climb up the rope to attack him/her on his/her mount.

If that's the case, you could get throw anything, then aim at the mount to ignore a -8 penalty and still have a +2 to hit (probably vs touch AC), so I guess that could work.

I'm just really skeptical because you'd be throwing it in the same way at a wall as you would a flying creature, so I wouldn't have thought you'd need the throw anything feat for something that was made to be thrown.

Edit: And yea, I'd have thought everyone would be proficient with a grappling hook, as it's a tool. :p

Hmm, I'm unsure on that because you still have the -4 from 2 extra range increments, and so as it doesn't require you to be proficient with it, surely you'd just take a -4 penalty on top of it for it being either an improvised weapon (not so sure as you're using it for its purpose - grappling something as it technically allows you to grapple anything) or I guess soft cover, as you're aiming from below the beast it's on.

A -8 feels legit to me, but a -12 I don't know about, because you're still using a grappling hook to grapple onto something. So I think it's fair to say soft cover and range increments would be an issue there.

Sucks that I can't find any official ruling on it.

Quote:
Grappling Hook: Throwing a grappling hook requires a ranged attack roll, treating the hook as a thrown weapon with a range increment of 10 feet. Objects with ample places to catch the hook are AC 5.

This is the ruling and I realise it's just a Ranged Attack, not Ranged Touch, but I don't know if it would classify as an improvised weapon. If it does, the penalty would be a further -4 I think, meaning from a +6, I'd have a -2 to hit, so I'm trying to find out what the official ruling is on this.

Edit: Yea, I just need to know what your official attack penalties would be for doing this etc, because you're still using it for its purpose, grappling onto something, so it makes sense to be able to pull the enemy towards you in the following round, off its mount.

I'm just unsure how it would work because if it grapples you should maintain the grapple and the enemy should have a strength/escape artist check to get out of it, but if it's just a reposition, I don't know how it would work.

Hey,

So if you're fighting an enemy who happens to be on a flying mount, if you throw a grappling hook (with rope attached) up to them, with the intention of pulling them from their mount, how would it work?

Let's say the enemy is 30 feet up and your grappling hook only has 10ft range increments.

At level 3 a Fighter has 3 BAB, so let's say I'm a Fighter with ok Dex (+3), I'd have a +6 to throw a Grappling Hook, but due to the range increments, I'd lose 4 of that ATK Bonus due to going two increments over what I should be.

So, ranged touch attack of +2.

Would they automatically gain the grappled position if this hit, and if they try to move away, being grappled, would they not automatically fall from their mount?

I don't know how this would work, but I'm fairly confident you can do it.

Ah okay. I've not seen that in years, so don't recall but I'll take your word for it. :)

I'm not a massive Star Wars fan really. The original films were the best, but even then I prefer the original Stargate film to all of the Star Wars films, and am much more into TV Shows like Spartacus, Supernatural etc. That and animé shows (the more adult, violent, deeper philosophical and political ones, such as Code Geass, which I've based my character Lelouch on - as a couple of the other players will no doubt tell you).

Still, Back to the Future is quite possibly my favourite set of films, of all time...with Pirates of the Caribbean being close behind.

I did find additional information however, and that is the Spawn of which Thantros conjures up, go by the name of "Schir". Supposedly they wield nasty Halberd's that spread a disease known as the Gray Pox. They share all Demon traits and can also summon more of their kind.

Lelouch looks to both Damien and Judeau, smirks and raises an eyebrow.

A little strong for our first encounter, don't you think? Still, I'm sure The Black Sun only intend to use us. Regardless, it won't be this way for too long. When I ascend to power, I'll manage things differently and branch the Organisation out to far greater causes!

Do Lelouch and Damien get along? I don't really know because so far Lelouch has had a small chat with Othan, and is only really friendly with Judeau, judging from our roleplay.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 FAIL

Does Judeau's book even have any information regarding Demons? I can't quite tell, but no matter.

Well, you seem to have found the same information as I. However, I think I may well know a little about the Demons spawns.

Lelouch takes note of how suspicious Judeau's acting.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

What are you up to....? Lelouch asks, as his piercing gaze glares at Judeau.

Waiting on you GM, to tell me if my roll of 23 gives me any information on the Goat Demons, as well as the name of the main demon as you've called it both a Thantros Demon and a Thanatos one. :p

Moving into his favourite section of the Library, Lelouch sees Judeau reading a book within the History section.

Good day Judeau, says Lelouch as Judeau drops his book, surprised by the presence of another.

Have you found anything interesting?
