Latimer accepts the priest's correction, sheepishly explaining, "Sorry, my folks were Baptists." Once the good father has finished his benediction, Latimer rushes towards the Fallen with the blessed water, and, with one hand on the base of the pitcher and the other holding the handle, splashes its contents over and around the Fallen.

Area attack with the pitcher of Holy Water. I have no idea how you want to rule the Power Rank of Holy Water vs the Fallen, so I'll have to leave the math up to you.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Hey, tumbler, would you say that throwing a pitcher of water is an Area attack already, or should I try and whip something up to help douse this thing?

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Why'd you have to say it!?

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

I need to look up the crafting and splash rules when I get home. Entirely too likely I'll miss with a pitcher of water.

"Oh crap. Ohcrapohcrapohcrap," Latimer mutters under his breath. Can't fight the incorporeal with kinetic force, it's irrelevant. Wait, it's a demon isn't it? Grabbing a pitcher of water off of the table, spending a Hero Point to place it, if you like Latimer rushes over to Father Jim with it. Holding the water out to him, Latimer asks, "Don't suppose you've got the transubstantiation thing on standby, do you Father?"

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Yeah, I misunderstood originally, thinking that the DC for that would be the individual senses, and by the time I realized I'd mucked it up, it was done, and I didn't want to change a bunch of things after game started. I could split them up if it'll be allowed after the fact. As for Arcane Signature, that was an intentional hook I wanted to leave in for tumbler to use, since this was a found item, and fairly powerful at that. Activation is a free action, so I don't lose much, and right now the glasses would have a DC 40 check for their signature to be noticed.

Snake Attack: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Four points of Str damage, ouch! Proceeding as though the snakes are fried, I can edit later if necessary.
Latimer takes advantage of the shocking distraction to try and activate his True Sight again, before activating the force field in his jacket.
Mystic Knowledge (Glasses): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (11) + 16 = 27 Failure!
Mystic Knowledge (Wand): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28 Success!
Obfendo (Magic 9) (mystic blast, DC 24): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Again failing to gain any more information on the demon, Latimer takes aim at the demon and desperately fires off a blast with a shout of "Obfendo!"
Free action to activate glasses (failed), free (or move, if the free actions are getting a bit excessive) to activate his force field, and a Standard to attack with the wand, with activation included in that action.

Latimer reaches into his pocket and pulls out an old pair of glasses. Putting them on, he makes a few odd movements, like he's focusing a pair of binoculars, almost.

Putting on his glasses, trying to activate super-senses
Mystic Knowledge: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
Failure!

Unable to see any more than the rest of the group, Latimer reaches for his wand instead.

Move to put on the glasses, Move to draw his wand. Attempting to activate his devices is a Free action.

Sorry I've been absent, couldn't see Latimer intruding on the conversations, and then the last few days I've just been away from home. Catching up now.

"Mind if I come in and go through this in here?" Latimer asks before entering. "I managed to run down the registration on that car from earlier, belongs to Bayless International. Holding company, owns a few buildings in town, and in a few others. Baltimore, Detroit, Toronto. Places with coastline. I think the reason has less to do with shipping than might otherwise be assumed, though." He finds a place to sit and starts digging through the book. "I don't suppose anyone has the rundown on our dancing partner from earlier and can save me the trouble?"

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Latimer looks past Aaron to the collected group. "Oh wow, the gang is all here, huh? That's the kid that fell, isn't it? Good to see he's still in one piece. I've spent my evening trying to figure out what the Fomor are up to in town." Holding up the book, he continues, "I was hoping I might be able to dig something up on the big guy or the smoke in here"

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

"I certainly hope so. I'll be right by to pick it up. Thank you."

Latimer hangs up the phone and heads over to the shop in his old Pinto. He comes up to the door and knocks before entering.

"I'm here for that copy of Arronax's? Wait, didn't I see you earlier tonight?"

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Part of my concern with Latimer calling out was that the only person he'd have previous contact with is the Warden, who won't have a cell for obvious reasons. But he might need a book from the local used tome dealership... Meanwhile, research!

Latimer logged into his computer as soon as he reached his apartment, and started making phone calls while checking with whomever he could hail on instant messenger at the same time, desperately hoping to find out anything he could about the Fomor's intentions in town, or what that thing in the car could have possibly been.

Using Challenge - Discrete Inquiry to make the first two rolls at a +5 DC, but without leaving a trail of questions leading back to me. Well Informed should have been rolled as soon as the big guy appeared, but I spaced. If you want to ignore it, that's cool with me.

Computers (Online Research): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Gather Information (Contacts): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Gather Information (Well-Informed): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

After exhausting the resources he can lay hands on at this time of night, Latimer decides to make a call to the local practitioner bookstore. "Hi, sorry to call so late, but would you happen to have a copy of Arronax's Oceanic Bestiary? An early edition, if at all possible."

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

tumbler, is it okay for me to move a couple points around? I realized I had an unintentional oversight in my skills.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Warden Kishan might have run into someone she knows earlier this evening whose entire gig is magical research and distribution. *cough*

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Latimer doesn't have a shop, so much as he takes orders online and does mail order stuff through a PO Box. In my head (if I forgot to write it down) he was selling magical gear over Etsy when the wardens found him.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Did we decide that it would be convenient for Latimer's apartment/workshop to be in the block? If so, I can just have him wander down to get his car and find people.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

If we're making the roll, and don't know the modifier ahead of time, wouldn't we still have to post the DC and wait on your response to be able to react? I'm missing the part that saves us time. It is 4 am though, it's possible I'm just missing a step.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

I'm fine with the pace, and sign offs are kind of irrelevant to me. I do tend to sleep until somewhere around 6 to 8 pm Central US, (I work nights), but that doesn't seem to have been a major hindrance so far.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Latimer will be heading back to his apartment, yeah. If we want it to be in the same building, that's fine, just need a two or three bedroom space, enough for one person with a workshop. I know you can't take 10 IN combat, I meant that I had spaced out on the fact that now that we're out of it, I had that as an option. Rolling with it as Latimer just having a really bad night.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

So, I may have entirely spaced on the fact that I can take 10 out of combat. Oops. Still, the Fomor need researching, and Kishan will know where to find him. If Latimer was suspicious enough, hopefully that will be sooner rather than later.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

I'm beginning to suspect shenanigans with this roller. I only need a 3 or better, and I've gotten a 1 and a pair of twos right in a row. Hopefully it makes it up in a bigger fight sometime, because right now I'm useless.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Seeing the entire crew vanish, Latimer frowns. "Oh fine, guess if I want to know anything, I have to join up. Hope this doesn't get me killed." He fiddles with the edge of his glasses for a second, but again fails to elicit any effect. Cursing violently, and with little other recourse if he's to remain off of the radar of the local police, Latimer decides to head home and reach out to the Paranet to learn what he can about the Fomor's movements in Boston.

Mystic Knowledge: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18

Also, I'd like to apologize in advance for all the times I'm going to forget to post under my Alias instead of my username. Not accustomed to this system yet.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Sorry, running late today. Latimer was just in shock, I guess. Seems appropriate for him.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Latimer considered for a moment, before deciding that it would be best to be seen as up front. He dismissed the cloak he was under and nodded at Kishan.

Evening, Warden. That would be me. Give me a moment, and I'll see if I can figure out the controls for the crane. Do we have a backup plan, just in case?"

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Latimer runs up and over the fence, and towards the commotion, and gets momentarily lost in the maze of containers, and arrives, still concealed, just as a boy falls out towards the pavement. In a panic, he goes for his wand, shouts "Dis!" and tries to snatch the boy out of the air.

Mystic Knowledge: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35

The boy's fall slows and veers away from the container and the hail of bullets. Latimer focuses on moving the boy away from harm and begins muttering to himself, "Pleasedon'tgetshotpleasedon'tgetshotpleasedon'tgetshot..."

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

I GM far more than I get to play, and I've personally found that the convenience far outweighs the issues with accuracy for me. It generally gets the math right, and I've never had it mess up anything game-changing.

Male Human Artificer | Hero points: 1; Bruises/Wounds/Conditions: 0/0/0

Latimer walked briskly towards Sullivan's, salivating over the thought of a congratulatory Lobster Roll. He'd gotten a lot done that day, completed 3 different commissions, but forgotten to actually stop and eat anything. As the he approached the entrance, he heard a sharp crack of sound from the docks, and his head snapped left to look. He'd been jumpy since the Warden's gave him a tail. He saw a burst of flame, and the container coming loose. He checked his pocket for his wand, paused, and cursed under his breath before abandoning his quest for dinner, and rushing to a shadowed corner. Once hidden from view, he went invisible and rushed towards the impending disaster as fast as his enchanted boots would take him.

Latimer is 100% out of his depth. In the 5-Man band, he's definitely The Smart Guy, and Weak, But Skilled is in full effect. Hopefully, between Artificer, Ritualist, and Inventor, he can aspire to Crazy Prepared, as well.
