"He is still hard to look at from my level. People should not be so tall around us grippli, it hurts my neck looking up so much." Mae says from the back of Sunny, apparently the two have come to some sort of accord on the trip back.

"If you wish to work inside out of the hot sun then I commend you, but if you change your mind then be sure to look some of us up for company." Mae bobs her head and Sunny rolls her eyestalks at the whole situation. She just wants to eat some fresh mushrooms like usual.

If that is the wand of endure elements we should certainly use those charges on our trip home... Mae can also put more of her spellcasting resources towards saving our personal charges as well... say one additional casting per day for someone to make use of.

Mae will cast endure elements on Sunny and use her pearl of power on it for herself on the trip home. She also will cast it on one person per day on the trip home.

As the army of living ants comes for the larvae Mae draws out her wand of speak with animals and activates it on herself and begins communicating with the vermin. "The larvae looked to be well cared for by the zombie ants down below. You will be proud to know they cared for them in death as they would in life." She looks over the ants as they come to be sure the Nuno hasn't been mistreating his subjects. Surprisingly Mae seems to be very familiar with ant husbandry as well as biology.

"Be well my ant friends. And please do not consume any of my grippli kind. We are so few." She steps away and faces Stuinvolk.

"You are cured. The relics are safe. We can travel back now yes? I only wish would could enjoy the forests more here. I miss them from my tadpole days." She gazes at the trees on the horizon sadly.

Mae bobs her head as the group zero's in on the location "Good thing one of us brought a shovel. My little hands are better at climbing than digging." Mae does her best to help but it isn't worth much in the long run for moving earth.

She looks over the findings with interest, especially the small ivory ant construct as well as the pot. "These are very curious. I would like to learn more about them." Let us hope this will be enough to remove the curse on Stuinvolk.

"We should get back to the surface, hopefully everyone is safe and sound." She double checks on the larvae with a careful eye. Do not eat them... oh but they look so good...

Mae frowns as her flaming sphere fails to connect. Its power will fade very soon, then what? Not having a ton of options against She Who Talks Too Much, Mae risks leaving herself open by trying to heal Kenza, who seems to have her hands full.

Ya I don't remember Mae being one of the life linked people, since she's less likely to take damage and can self heal.

Mae's head bobs excitedly as the good guys appear to be winning. "If you were living ants I would not allow this, but you are unnatural and must be destroyed." Good thing Sunny isn't here, she'd be freaking out right now. She does hate ants.

Mae ducks a pair of mandibles, something she's done more times in her short life than she'd care to mention. She quickly hops backwards, drawing out a small wad of tallow, brimstone, and iron shavings. With a few druidic words and motions she summons in a ball of flames on top of the rear-end of 'she who talks too much'. "You will be stopped, your evil control of these peaceful insects will end!"

Mae returns with the larvae, a look of pained hunger on her face as she quickly hands them off to the others to deal with. "Take these before I eat one. They look delicious." She moves away from them and takes out a handful of dried grasshoppers to satisfy the craving.

"Now we must find the queen's room and this artifact yes?" She mumbles through a mouthful of crunchy goodness.

Mae head bobs and puts away her shield. She asks the spirits to guide her as she tries to put on her best ant face and take away some ant larvae without alerting the nurses. "I will do my best to sneak them away, if I am attacked please come to my aid." I wish you were here to help me Sunny.

After watching the ants work for a few minutes, Mae heads in to join the line, doing her best impression of 'ant hive mind' to rescue the doomed larvae before they turn into the adult zombie husks.

Mae peers into the room and watches the withered ants go about their business. "These do not look healthy. Do any of you see signs of the queen or artifacts? I could probably sneak out larvae if the ants do not grow hostile, but maybe we should get them on our way back out."

Can Mae tell if they are actually living or are they like zombied ants? I would be concerned with trying to carry around ant larvae if we get into combat.

She keeps her eyes to the ground searching for anything of interest, especially fresh tracks.

"Thank you Naevys." Mae head bobs in response as she bolster's Sunny's defenses. Seemingly after no time however do they run into the shaft straight down into the earth.

Mae looks down the shaft, testing the climbing difficulty a bit, then looks back and forth at Sunny a few times and then the hole. "As much as it pains me, I do not think Sunny can follow us down this hole. It is strange to me but while normal sized slugs can cling to the underside of mushrooms to feed, large ones like her have no skill in climbing. I will bring her back to defend Stuinvolk."

Mae attempts to hop on her sluggy friend's back and ride off back the way they came. Handle Animal Push, DC25: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23 Sunny however will have none of it. "Fine. I do you a favor and you can't even return the favor." Mae drags the slug back out and returns in a few minutes.

When it comes time to climb she moves down the walls like a practiced climber. Taking 10 on climb for 21 with a 20' climb speed.

Mae has 60 darkvision and Sunny has 30' blindsense.

"I hope you have brought light sources. I do not need the extra light, but I think Sunny would enjoy it." Mae pats her slimy, sluggy friend on the rubbery rump.

She casts a simple spell on herself then looks to Naevys as she uses her protection wand "Would it be ok if you used that on Sunny? Her thick skin only helps so much verses the biting of powerful ant jaws."

Mae looks at the dried termites with glee, head bobbing vigorously at the offer of a meal "Termites, yum. Let's eat." She digs in immediately.

As Stu offers to stay back she nods in agreement "What are these artifacts he speaks of? Do you remember?"

Mae covers her ears and Sunny's eyestalks as the angry little fey spouts off some serious curses. She bobs her head sadly and tries to remove them from her mind. "I am sorry your ant friends are not right. I will speak with them and find out the trouble." She seems generally more concerned with that issue than the others mentioned about artifacts.

Mae pets the heads of the wild dogs but has no food to share that they would enjoy. "I will try to find you food when I return." She makes her way with the others, waving goodbye as the dogs fade into the distance.

As they arrive at the location of the cursed site, she looks at the mounds with a series of loud gulps, appearing very nervous. "Swarms of ants are very deadly. Many are carried off or eaten on the spot by such hungry creatures."

Not a predator I usually see in the forests and swamps. They hunt out in the open more where they can surround and tire their prey. I will try to calm them so we can escape."

Wild Empathy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 The little grippli drops Sunny's tether and moves with slow steps a bit closer to the dogs as she makes a calming hum in her throat as well as the occasional yip. Her voice has a hard time making the yips but it seems to make them calmer.

See draws out a wand and activates it on herself, clearing her throat and apparently speaking with them. "Calm my doggie friends. We are only passing through. Attacking will be bad for your pack, these ones are ready for trouble and will not make a good meal. If you let us pass we will keep an eye out for good food for you when we return."

Mae watches Stu destroy the creature with two swift strokes of his longsword. She hollers at Sunny to leave the corpse alone as she start nibbling on its face. "Sunny, back to bed." And tosses a spare mushroom her way before facing Stu.

"You have rid this world and your soul of a great fear beast. Life will come easier for you and us now." She claps a sticky hand on the man's leg and bobs her head a few times before stowing things and trying to get back to sleep with the glowing of the campfire wall around her and the others.

Mae's head bobs rapidly as the flames shoot out of the tent and blast her with uncomfortable heat. She raises her own blade of flames to try shielding herself before stepping forward and swinging the sword with less ability than she'd like. "Woahhh... hot..."

I've never played a character that uses guns so this question is based on ignorance:

Do they have loads with different materials? IE silver, cold iron, adamantine, etc?

If so you may want to try them out for the fight. I don't think anyone made the check to find out the DR type?

"Yes I agree with Chance. Not the best way to solve this problem. Perhaps someone who is a master at hypnotism could help him. I am no such person, I am not very familiar with how that works." She shrugs her shoulders and pulls out a jar from her pack.

"I do have this..." She presents a capped jar with a number of drown insects inside. She unscrews the lid and takes a solid drink, slapping her lips with her long tongue.

"This is called Bufo by my people. It is an alcohol drink with soaked extra snacks. Most in this area soak poisonous frogs. My people prefer to soak certain insects. When you drink some it will sometimes make you see relaxing colors and shapes." She offers it up to anyone who wishes.

I also changed up my spells for the day. I chose camp fire wall to hopefully help, as well as faerie fire. I'll cast the fire wall when we settle down for sleeping, around when the creature tends to come around.

Mae bobs her head a few times when the demon lady refuses healing "Ok, the spirits thank you." Not sure the spirits would like healing someone with tainted blood. I should ask.

When she does see the Halfling starting to catch fire she summons in a downpour over his head and unfortunately the camp fire. WHOOOOSH As the smoke and steam billow into the night sky. "All better yes?" She asks, not really a huge fan of the fire pit anyhow. She follows that dousing with one over Sunny as well to help calm her down and keep her in camp.

"That one predator nearly made a meal of us all. I wonder why your weapons didn't seem to work as well. Maybe if there is a next time try silver or cold iron?" She draws out a small gleaming dagger made of mithril. Far too small for most of them but it would be adequate for herself or Chance.

While her spells proved 100% useless vs the creature, Mae is relieved they drove it off at least, most likely thanks to the loud smoke sticks the women wielded. "One can hope it will not return..."

She drops her shield and moves to help heal the fallen with her wand.

Mae watches on as Thaia guides with expert skills, a few head bobs indicating her approval. With another hot day ahead Mae reapplies her and Sunny's magical sunscreen and they walk on with few words and some froggy yawns.

Mae bobs her head slowly after a bit as sleep retakes her. Sunny hopefully does the same, if not she is sure others will wake her. This predator seems to like to harass. Maybe it is only playing with us for fun.
