Lackspell will lob in his final bomb for the day, picking a spot where he can get the largest concentration of them in the splash without endangering his companions.

Assuming a hit ...

Burn!: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

So the one hit directly takes 8 and any caught in the blast take 6 points of damage with a Reflex Save (DC 15) for half damage.

And that's it - officially all out of bombs for the day. It's the crossbow for me from here on in. :)

We should be able to do it relatively safely. We've seen where the Sinspawn appears, so everyone can be ready for it. We can even be ready with bows and suchlike so that we don't even need to get close to it. Doing it at least once should prove or disprove the theory that the glow shows how much power is left in the pool

Well yes, I suppose it is a bit like a wand. But it is a wand that we can't take away and keep safe. If someone comes down here after we leave it will be right there to be used.

Lackspell continues to stare at the pool as he speaks.

So... somehow, this pool is the source of the Sinspawn. I don't know where they come from, but somehow the blood that the little demon shed into the pool is what called the creature here. I really don't think it's a good idea to leave this thing here still functioning. Someone could come along and accidentally summon one of these. Varak, can you do some sort of holy ritual to cleanse this and stop it from bringing any more in? The only other option I can think of is that it seemed to dim somewhat when the demon did her thing. Perhaps we could summon the sinspawn through, one at a time until it is drained?

I don't think anyone has specifically done a Spellcraft check on it, although Varak has cast Detect Magic here in the room. So at the very least we probably know it's magic. If nobody else has done the check then Lackspell can ...

Lackspell watches Ren go about her searching, concern on his face.

She is still shaken... this has been hard on her. But then, remember how it was on the island. Even with her help you weren't really right again until after we had left the island. She will be fine, she is strong.

Slowly, his attention is drawn away by the thing that is tugging at him the whole time he is in the room. The Pool. He will go a bit closer and examine it. Trying to determine more of its nature. Does it create the sinspawn, or is it a portal? And why is it's light dimming?

Lackspell looks astonished as Ren hugs him, but then he wraps his arms around her and holds her gently.

Look at her... so scared ... and how she shakes ... she is right, it is these places... the tunnels under the island affected me much the same. She saved me then, I must try to help her now...

You... you are right Ren. These places are terrible. And the things the hide here are horrors beyond anything I ever thought to see. But ... together we can face these things. We can win through. And together we can do things that those poor people in the town above could never do. When we were in the tunnels under the island my fear almost broke me. But you saved me. You held my hand and told me the darkness is better faced together. And you were right. Come back to the rest of the group with me Ren. Together we will be safer.

Lackspell sees Ren's look of fear and horror and watches as she dashes back out of the room into the unlit hall. For the briefest moment he is unsure what to do. Then he cries out Ren! and dashes after her.

Despite being terrible at Will Saves, Lackspell succeeds!

He does look shaken however :) and takes an involuntary step backwards away from the creature before steeling his nerve and coming to a halt. With shaking hands he will reload his crossbow and shoot at the creature again. (After Ren of course)

He moves forward to just behind Varak and swiftly prepares one of his bombs and lobs it at the large creature.

It's funny, I have to deal with all manner of strongly odorous substances in alchemty, but nothing really smells quite so bad as unholy water. It just smells wrong somehow.

He shrugs and turns away to face the door, holding out his sunrod to share the light.

Lackspell will approach the shrine with his sunrod so any interested folks can get a good look at it. Not being much of a one for religious things, he will examine the altar (and particularly the water) in an attempt to understand it.

He's not trained in Knowledge (Religion) and so will examine the altar and water through the lens of his more intellectual and professional skills :)

Lackspell looks equal parts fascinated and horrified as he stares at the fallen monsters.

It is curious. I do not know what these creatures are, but they are like nothing I have ever heard of associating with goblins. I wonder if they were allies of the goblins or if they just happened to be here.

Gritting his teeth against the pain of the creature's shrieking, Lackspell takes aim with his crossbow and looses a bolt at the floating horror.

damn - when I first typed the damage roll out I put 1d20+1 rather than 1d8+1. 12 points of damage would have been better :)

Unfortunately, Lackspell doesn't have any points in Know History :(

Lackspell stares at the statue for a while, wondering at its significance, then shrugs slightly and moves over near the door to watch quietly as Ren works on it.

With a faintly puzzled look, Lackspell reaches out and touches the weapon in the hands of the statue. Upon confirming that it is a separate thing and not just part of the statue he will tug gently at it to see if it can be removed...

Lackspell will be tending to be in the back half of the group and is carrying the sunrod still.

He will be keeping at least an occasional eye cast back behind the group, nervous of the darkness that seems to follow along, crowding in at the edge of his light. And despite having had little success in the past he will attempt to move quietly.

I agree Ren, if there are still goblins down here then they pose a clear threat to the town above. Although it looks like Ameiko's brother was acting as the leader here, his journal makes it pretty clear that the woman who he calls his love is the one making the decisions. Perhaps she is down here... he points down the rough tunnel.

Hmmm, it also mentioned a quasit ...

I'm wondering if she might be a wizard of some sort.

It looks like we have discovered much more than just a simple basement down here. It looks like Ameiko's brother was not lying when he wrote about a tunnel. I can well imagine it might have been used by smugglers or such to bring goods in to the town secretly once upon a time. And of course, who knows what might be down there now. More goblins I would guess. Waiting for the traitor to lead them in an assault on the town.

When the idea of taking Ameiko out before continuing is brought up, he will suggest that some at least might want to stay and keep an eye on the entrance to the tunnel.

Lackspell follows along with the sunrod in hand. When Ameiko is discovered he looks in to the room where the others are crowding around her. When he hears her speak he will direct his attention back to the corridor. After a moment of consideration he will make his way down to the left hand corner and take a look around.

No point in worrying about stealth now I suppose after smashing down that door and all that ...probably more important to see what's what...

So he's going as far as the corner and looking down that next part of the corridor, but is still in sight of the door to Ameiko's prison

As Ren catches up to Lackspell he glances around and her and then smiles quietly to himself as he turns back...

Good, I am glad she is here. She makes me feel safer in places like this...

Then he speaks softly ... This is new he says, gesturing to hole in the wall...or maybe newly re-opened? I don't know. I can't hear anything down there, but if it is this smuggler's tunnel he was writing about, then I suppose it would make sense that if he's got Ameiko anywhere, it would be down there.

Down there, in the dark... stop it you fool! You're the one carrying the sunrod, you are bringing light down here. And after what we've seen upstairs, if all he's done is leave her in the dark then she will be very lucky indeed

He licks his lips nervously.

Sort of - at the moment he can make extracts, which are the equivalent of spells except they affect only him. So at this stage they are all entirely self buffs. At some stage he will almost certainly by taking the Infusion discovery which will allow his creations to affect others. I'm thinking of taking that at either 4th or 6th level - it is super useful but there are a LOT of attractive choices.

Regardless ... I can add his Extract list on, no problem. As of right now, he has one Cure Light Wounds and one Shield extract left to use.

Lackspell stands at the bottom of the stairs for a moment, staring down the hall. Then he quickly mixes and drinks down a potion (Keen Senses). He stands, listening carefully for any sounds from down the hall ahead of him.

He bites his lip nervously as he considers...

Should I call out to her? She might be tied up just around that corner. But there could also be more goblins. I doubt it though. Any more goblins couldn't have failed to hear all that noise upstairs. Still, best just to stay quiet for the moment.

Then he moves over to the hole in the wall to his left and, poking the sunrod through the hole, looks into whatever is beyond.

Trying desperately to find something other than the horrific thing in the alcove to look at, Lackspell finds himself standing at the top of the stairs looking down into the basement as the rest of the group continue to search around the remainder of the ground floor of the building.

Downstairs... that would make sense... probably a good place to hide goblins down there... And the journal mentioned a smuggler's tunnel... surely that must lead in down here... Maybe Miss Ameiko is locked up down here... that seems ... likely. Or at least something we can hope for. But .. but... someone who could do ... THAT ... to his own father, is capable of anything...

Numbly, he pulls a sunrod from the outside of his pack and striking it on the doorframe, takes a couple of cautious steps down the stairs.

Lackspell stares at the scene before him for a moment, his mind almost refusing to accept what his eyes are seeing. Then suddenly the horror of it overwhelms him and with a cry of revulsion and dismay he reels back from the glass encased corpse.

Stumbling across the room in an almost instinctive attempt to get away from the ghastly sight, he falls to his knees and is noisily sick.

How ... how could... oh gods ... how could anyone do this to another person... and he did this to his own father!!! Even Veltic was not so monstrous.

If a 16 should miss then... Where did it go: 1d8 ⇒ 7 ... the bomb falls next to the target to Lackspell's right and the target still takes 5 points of fire damage but has a DC 15 Reflex save for half damage.

Hmmm ... kind of low, even given it is against touch AC - however, in case that is a hit

If the 10 misses it's touch ac then the flask lands directly behind the goblin and it will instead take 5 points of splash damage (Reflex save vs DC 15 for half damage.)

Assuming Ren killed her one, there's five left. I think Lackspell hit so that could be another one down although I don't know if the one he hit was already damaged. So my guess is 3 - 5
But you go before him in initiative anyway, so his potential kills don't matter - you are still in a target rich environment :)
