Looking For Advice/input

I have been reading Shadowdancer's Shadow Jump ability and I have read some of the posts already about it but i still would like some clarification.

i read from posts that you have to follow dimension door to the teeth, when you use shadow jump. Including the added limitations from the Shadowdancer class, since you can't make anymore actions after using Dimension door how is it the shadowdancer's allowed to split up the travel in 10ft intervals? (this i know is added to the effect)

also what purpose would it serve to split up the jump? is this suppose to be a players imagination on how to use it effectively as to surprise an enemy/would the DM even play fair if used as such? are free action allow even though no more action can be taken when used? since facing doesn't matter can you surprise an enemy?

another word that gets me is that it states it's a Jump. since a jump falls under acrobatics and the action of a acrobatics check is usually made during a action (Move, standard, swift) wouldn't it just use one of these action when used? i would assume not a swift action and if we used Dimension door's rules wouldn't we use a standard action like it states?

What i'm really getting at is, does it really follow dimension door down to ever last detail.
Thanks for your Time
