Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras will take a 5 ft. step back to M12 and fire his loaded crossbow at the goblin next to Pontius while cursing the stupid creatures. "You little sh*ts!" He'll then drop his crossbow behind him and use quick draw to pull out his falchion.

Crossbow attack:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage:1d8 ⇒ 2

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

After the goblins jumped out, no, I'm not gonna go through with my readied action. BTW, your initiative rolls for me are horrible! 8, then 9. What next? 10? ;)

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

N12 for me.

Readied Attack
Attack:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Damage:1d8 ⇒ 3

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Stealth:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Jeez I can't wait until 2nd level, so I can get that +3 class skill bonus to my stealth! Still got a good roll, but +2 sucks.

Kyras is completely on the same train of thought as Pontius. Once they reach the goblin hideout, he takes out his crossbow and loads a bolt, hiding by the doorway, away from the wall just enough that he can get a clear shot past Pontius once he sees the hellknights, readying an action to fire on the first hellknight that he sees. He hopes that since the hellknights will see him just moments before they see Jacob or Pontius, BUT they don't know our numbers, that he won't ruin the element of surprise for Jacob or Pontius.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras is gonna mark next to the archway of each intersection that they go into with an X, and also, on each intersection he will mark next to the archway they come out of with a big O. That way if they end up coming back around, it won't just be 'Oh, we've been here already,' we'll actually be able to tell which direction we went. He'll start it back at the intersection where we first went right.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras turns to the professor.

"Hey Professor, you got any chalk or anything? Maybe we should mark our intersections so we know where we've been."

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras turns and jogs after Janiven and Morosino, stopping at the intersection to listen and see if he can tell which direction they went.

Perception:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras uses Combat Expertise to increase his AC to 16 while moving forward past Jacob through v14 and up to v13, then moving diagonally to w12, taking the one attack of opportunity, as he REALLY doesn't wanna roll around (i.e. tumble) through the channel. He then slices at the hellknight.

Attack:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage:2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3) + 4 = 9

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras would rather not fight, but he knows that if we run, we'll just get more lost then we are already gonna be, and so tucks the sunrod into his belt, drawing his falchion as quietly as possible and getting ready to slice and dice, stepping forward to join Jacob and Dolmar. He grits his teeth, his eyes seeming to shoot daggers in the direction of their pursuers.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras stays out of the discussion. He doesn't want to be down here any longer then he has to, but no one besides him and Pontius seem to have any decent chance of sneaking by, and splitting the party is never a good idea. Besides, unless he adamantly disagrees with people, Kyras tends to prefer melting into the background.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras takes the said items and puts one of the potions in his belt pouch, the other in his backpack, he strikes the sunrod to light it, and takes up rear guard, ready to warn everyone once he notices the Hellknights coming.

I wasn't trying for a light source with the lantern.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

As everyone else is climbing down into the sewer Kyras glances about, seeing if there is a lit lantern or something nearby.

Probably not needed, but just in case
Perception:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras stands so quickly his chair rockets back behind him as he takes two quick gulps of his ale, not even paying attention as he drops it on the table and wipes his mouth with the sleeve of his other arm. He then looks at Janiven. "The kitchen, or whatever is back there," he points to the bar, probably indicating behind it, "is there another way out back there?"

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras glares at Pontius. "I wasn't asking you rich boy. Let her answer for herself. If she doesn't have a plan, that's fine, it's just a bit of information I'd like before agreeing to this."

He then turns back to Janiven. "I believe I've made my decision. I just want some more information before I make it final, and since I'm asking questions instead of walking out the door, I think you can guess what that decision likely is."

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

"You still haven't answered my question Janiven. I asked you if you had a plan, and you have answered me with 'We will grow until we have the strength to oppose the government.' How will we grow? More recruitment meetings like this? And while we're growing, what are we gonna be doing to make resistance possible and build the support of the people? Do you plan on being a charity service for the people or something? And once we DO have the strength to tangle with the nobility, how exactly are we going to do that? Are we going to sabotage their plans, and if so, how are we going to figure those plans out? More undercover work like you told me my uncle was involved in? Or are we gonna just take 'em on head on, swords in hand?"

Kyras leans forward in his seat, folding his hands together on the table.

"I'm not saying that I won't get involved. I want to. I just need to know the plan, or if there is a lack of one. I already know what you plan on doing. What I want to know is how."

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

"So what exactly are you suggesting? What kind of numbers do you have? Where are your influence points? We can have all the support of the people and still never get anywhere. No one wants these creatures here, no one wants a government headed by insane diabolists. But they're scared. We, by virtue of deciding to stand against the current powers that be, will already essentially have the support of the people. But that won't stop them from slaughtering the lot of us, and not a one of those people will speak a word against it, because they're scared."

Kyras takes another large gulp from his mug of ale, swallows, sets his mug down and takes a bite of bread, looking at Janiven, waiting. He's not gonna support something that has no chance or plan.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras glances towards the table and answers the professor's question. "My uncle." He finishes his way around the room and decides to finally sit down, figuring that Katya is either running late or got caught by Hellknights trying to follow her to this meeting or something, and if she did get caught, his best bet for saving her would be this meeting here. He sits on the side of the table opposite the main door, so he can see it from where he is sitting.

He pours himself a mug of ale and takes a big gulp before setting it down on the table.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras starts to walk around the room, seemingly pacing. Where was Katya?

Anyway, while he's at it, he glances about the room as he circles it, taking note of all exits and entrances that he can see.

Ah, I can't wait. I changed my mind, I'll post now.

Pontius, the earliest invitee to arrive at Vizio's, slips around into a secluded alley nearby (not TOO dark of course!), where he waits to see what happens. Moments later, he spies a rough and disheveled half-elf walk by warily. Thinking little of it, Pontius' interest is captured anew when he sees the armed half-elf come back around the block and furtively enter the tavern.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Kyras, unaware of his observer, casually completes his circuit of the street, then approaches Vizio's cautiously after wetting his whistle from his flask. Finding the front door unlocked, he slips inside and darts behind the door.

"Are you hiding out from someone, or just setting an ambush?" a woman's voice asks wryly from across the taproom.

Startled slightly, Kyras turns to see that the speaker is immediately recognizable as Janiven Key. The tall, red-haired woman downplays her beauty with her rough clothing and stern attitude, but she is attractive nonetheless. At present, she stands behind the bartop preparing a light supper of cold chicken, hearty bread, and raw vegetables. She gestures to where a table has been prepared in the center of the room, surrounded by several chairs. "Instead of skulking there, why not have a seat. Pour yourself a mug of ale while we wait for the rest."

Kyras stays where he is, eying Janiven. He avoids answering the hiding/ambush question directly, as he doesn't know which one it will be until something happens, instead answering with his reasoning. "One can never be too cautious. For all I know you're with the Death Knights (that's what their called, right? I can't remember) and you're setting me up. Besides, I don't know who else is coming through that door. Growing up on these streets can make you paranoid, and in this city, that's not a bad thing." Kyras turns his head to the pitcher of ale for a second, but decides to wait until the meeting starts before indulging. He's not sure he feels 100% safe here. "I'm assuming Katya hasn't arrived yet?"

Kyras has visited just about every tavern in the city at least once, and though Vizio's was not his favorite spot, he's sad to find that it has closed, currently unaware of the death of proprietor. Oh well, he's here on business. Shady business, but business. He calmly walks past the tavern, trying to catch a glimpse inside without being obvious.

Perception:1d20 + 3

He continues walking for a block and turns a corner, eventually coming back around to the tavern. He walks up to the door and with a glance around him and a quick swig from his flask of gin, he slinks into the taproom of the decrepit building.

Once inside he takes up a post next to the door, on the side of the hinges so that anyone entering would not notice him until they walked completely into the room or closed the door.

Kyras is a handsome, if somewhat rough looking half-elf. Scrawny, at 5'6" he's a little short for his kind. His brown hair is constantly a mess and his clothes are torn, stained, and disheveled, fitting his poor station. Not knowing what to expect, he has arrived fully armed, his cheap, junky studded leather completing his desperate mercenary look. His weapons, though sheathed and slightly covered by the folds of his cloak, are well made, and it is obvious to anyone that takes the time to look that they are most likely his prized possessions. The neck of his cloak is clasped loosely so as to allow a hint of the handle of his falchion to stick out behind his head for purposes of drawing the weapon, and his kukri is tucked into his belt on his left side. His crossbow is slung across his back in an X pattern with the falchion, and has a quick-release strap for removing it, the bolts in a quiver on his right hip.

He tends to stand dead still, quiet but imposing for his size, though anyone that gets close enough can see the glaze in his eyes from constant drinking, as he is always a little buzzed, though he saves the fully drunken times for the days he has nothing to...

Dang! I forgot to change to Kyras for the post. Sorry.

Hit points added. I don't know why the GM previously didn't catch that, but it's been fixed.

Well, this is my first dip into Golarion. I don't really know anything about it. But it has been fixed.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

So I double checked, and it turns out that the stats that I had were already a 20 point buy. So I'm completely ready. I removed the healing potions from my inventory and added how Janiven contacted me and invited me to the meeting into my history.

Sorry to see you go CHP.

Hey, Kyras! Do you want a sister? If you go human, it could be fun. Heck, we could possibly make it work even if you're still a half-elf. If we share a mother, but have different fathers, it could work. I think Katya really does need a sibling (or at least a good friend) to pull her into the whole revolutionary thing.

I'm fine with it. You could be my older sister, the one that was conceived legitimately in our mother's marriage (if you read my history, you'll see I'm the result of infidelity). Since we ran and hid, your father never got to find you and take you away. Hell, that could get integrated into the story somewhere.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

I'll have Kyras' corrected stats to fit your specific character creation rules posted by tomorrow afternoon. I think I only need to change my base stats, but I'll check on total value of equipment as well when I have time.

TDL and ChrisRev, I'll throw your guys into the pool for consideration, and with that, we'll call the application window closed (with the only exception that if Wilhem gets something in before I make the decision, I'll look at that too).

I'll post the six players who get in later this afternoon...I need to think things over a bit first. It's a tough call!

Sorry, HERE'S the character profile for my previous Council of Thieves PbP (this is ChrisRevocateur)

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Yeah, thanks for not just disappearing. Hope things settle down, and just let us know here or on the discussion thread if you ever decide to bring the game back.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras presses the blade of his falchion against the kneeling goblin's neck. He grins mischievously as he says "Well, they're not exactly trustworthy individuals. If we just leave them, they're gonna cause havoc for someone else. Besides, they're just vermin. Smart vermin, but vermin none the less."

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras steps five feet up to flank the goblin with Malcom (sorry Ankara, that was my plan all along), grinning widely as he knows this goblin's in trouble, a low sweeping strike aiming to almost cut the goblin in half at the waist.

Attack:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage:2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 = 9

If the goblin falls, then he calls into the room beyond "Give it up you little freaks, you haven't got a chance!"

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras will move diagonally down to G7 and over to G9 before moving back up diagonally to F10, avoiding any attacks of opportunity before slicing at the goblin at E9.

Attack:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage:2d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 = 6

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

So if I keep my action from the last round, does that mean I keep the rolls to, or should I re-roll? Either way, I'm still chopping at that goblin

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

I guess I'll just move to F6 then.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Initiative:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Kyras holds back, waiting to see how Marcellius' idea pans out, but he's ready to spring forward to F6 and strike down the goblin in his reach.

(If no one responds that they know Goblin, he will attack)

Attack:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Damage:2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7
Critical Confirmation:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Critical Damage:2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 = 10

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras grips the handle of his falchion, gritting his teeth, readying for another combat.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras walks up to Janiven. "You said that you've marked every intersection, right? So can't we try and find an intersection where the mark isn't gone?"

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras simply chops at the remaining skeleton.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 52d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 = 6

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras swings his falchion overhead, bringing it down, trying to cut into the skeleton's head that is before him (H5).

1d20+4, 2d4+4=[14, 4]=18 on attack, [4, 3, 4]=11 damage

If that attack drops the skeleton in front of Kyras, he's going to step forward 5 feet to H5.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras reacts quickly enough, taking a double move to H6. Unfortunately that doesn't leave him with an attack action left, due to having taken rear guard, and since he moved through allies squares, he was unable to charge.

Initiative:1d20+3=15

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras places his vials in his backpack and draws his falchion, taking up the rear behind Patrum, keeping a close eye behind them.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras shuffles down the stairs after Patrum without a word.

"Yes, we are already well disguised, but that doesn't mean they aren't gonna ask questions, and we're gonna need answers."

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras nods in agreement to Malcom's plan.

"One catch though. If we use that, we'd have to figure why the kid ran here for shelter, and why we let him in."

Kyras turns to the kid.

"Do they know that you're involved with your friend that they've captured?"

His hand reaches for his crossbow, just in case it's neccessary.

"Also, if this is just a quiet dinner among friends, and not a secret meeting, then why are we all armed?"

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

True to form, Kyras is one of the last to speak.

"I was raised in this city and its streets. The people here are scared and oppressed, and most of us don't have somewhere to place our anger and sadness at the state of things, and so many, most, treat each other horribly."

Kyras sits forward in his chair, calmly, yet with immense intensity continues.

"I have learned that to survive and get ahead in this city, one must use people, step on them in the figurative sense. I learned this lesson well, and it has nearly broken me. I NEVER wanted to be like that. I cannot stand the deception I've had to use."

Kyras stands, getting a little louder, but not yelling.

"At the heart of this insane social order is this country's fiendish influence, and the house of Thrune, something that one man cannot stand against. But here, we have allies, and that gives me something I've never truely felt before, hope. Before today, I was either going to snap and try to fight this on my own, or just give up, lay down and die. Now I have people to stand with me as I fight, and I will not stop until the house of Thrune is cast out, I will not stop until those devils leave our presence. I will not stop until the current social order is DEAD!"

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

"Sounds delicious."

Kyras reaches forth and grabs a leg, digging in, realizing he hasn't eaten much today, as he was rather hung over earlier.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras eyes the jug of ale. Only someone paying close attention would be able to see the slight look of concentration on his face, like he was having a small battle of wills. He gently shakes his head to himself before speaking.

"Thank you for the offer my lady, but I'm trying to cut back on the alcohol these days. Though that roasted chicken sounds wondrous, and I am hungry....

"Anyway, my uncle didn't tell me much about you or exactly who these freedom fighters are, but I trust him to not steer me wrong. How many more are supposed to be showing?"

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras decides to sit down and get comfortable, leaning back in his chair and putting his feet up on the table. Noticing that everyone seems a little nervous, he speaks, not knowing if what he says will help allay any of their fears.

"Ankara, everyone, I believe we can relax. My uncle, who would never do anything to bring me harm, is the one that sent me here. I believe this woman is Janiven, the woman we are supposed to meet with. My uncle told me about her to.

"We're safe. At least as safe as people meeting to plot against the government can be."

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

Kyras, trusting his uncle's judgment of this woman implicitly, merely steps inside and stands directly to one side of the door, and realizes that he didn't have to take those shots, he felt like he had no reason to be nervous now, at least not about the authenticity of their host.

Still, one can never be too cautious about anything associated with even speaking against the government, let alone meeting to actually fight it. Kyras looks around, surveying the lay of the room and anyone else that is inside.

Male Half-Elf Ftr 1

“Glad to hear you’re still willing to follow the cause through boy. People have dreams that never come to fruition because they have little willpower to go through with it.”

He walks towards you and sits next to you.

“The meeting will be held later this afternoon, just before tea by Janiven at a run-down tavern known as Vizio’s. Not sure if you’ve heard of it before. It is in the eastern area of the Rego Scripa, and is the only run-down tavern in the area if memory serves me correctly. Knock on the door, I let her know about you and she will gladly welcome you to the meeting. I would take you to the meeting myself but I fear the Dottari are still looking for me, and walking with you down these streets will only put you in danger.”

He pauses for a moment as he contemplates whether he should say something else.

“Kyras, is it ok if I lay low at your house for some time? I believe they are out searching the streets at the moment and I need some place to hide to make sure they don’t find me.”

OOC: If you’re ready to move on we can make your next post the last one before fast forwarding you to Vizio’s Tavern, or we can roleplay the situation a little further before heading to Vizio’s. Let me know if you want this to happen and I can fast forward the time. Depending on the situation you might end up at Vizio’s at the same time as some other people. Let me know when you’re ready.

"This has nothing to do with willpower and dreams. This is just plain not being able to take it anymore. If I don't do something to fight this horrible heirarchy, I will snap, and I will die inside completely, as the booze has been doing to me slowly."

I pat my uncle on the back.

"But don't worry about me. You've given me the hope I need to continue living."

I stand up, the nausea hitting me again from the headrush and I run to vomit into the chamber pot.

"Or at least return from the dead."

I say with a grin.

Yeah, go ahead and fast forward to the meeting. I allow my uncle to stay at my house, and in fact, tell he he didn't even have to ask. Being rather nervous, I take a few shots before the meeting, just enough to get a buzz and take the edge off.
