![]() "Damn, Gunray and Dodd are both here? These are some high rollers, if we can get in good with them... well, let's just say we won't be wanting for credits. We won't have to rely on random kids from the desert to fix our ship. No offense, kid." Kyra looks down at her armor, the small craters from the blaster bolts still scorched and blackened. She scratches at it for a moment with her finger, then shrugs. "Maybe battle-scarred is a good look for this... whatever. Look sharp, everyone. We've got a real important welcoming party." ![]()
![]() Kyra takes a glass from Ralk and downs the aged liquor, then sighs. "I'm gonna leave these lot to talk about their mystic bullsh*t on their own. Let's just be happy we made it off that sand-infested backwater rock they call a planet." She winces as she looks over at Anakin. "No offense, kid. I'm sure you've got some fond memories of that place, somewhere. Ralk and I will get you home if we can, but that might not be for a while now; we're likely to be busy with these 'acts of aggression' flaring up." ![]()
![]() "The kid? Ask your apprentice, he's the one who decided to have him tag along. I have no idea who he is, but he's not the worst mechanic I've ever met. I don't know who he is, exactly, but Obi-Wan here seemed a little spooked when he saw him." Kyra takes a look at Ralk and waves her hand, telling the bothan to calm down. She takes a look at the diagnostic screen as she talks. "He probably just shorted the circuit, we can fix it when we land. We've got the ship's main weapons if we run into any trouble, and I doubt we'll need the docking gun on Coruscant." ![]()
![]() "Yeah, I'll have faith in the Force about the same time I have faith in Ralk telling someone the real story about how he got this ship." Kyra slams her fist into the button to close the boarding ramp and remains standing while the ship takes off, now used to the familiar jerks and shuddering of the Intrigue. When she gets up to the cockpit, she plops herself down in the co-pilot's chair before groaning. She rubs her recent injuries where the blaster marks scarred her skin. "That's gonna leave a mark, that's for damned sure. How long until we reach Coruscant?" ![]()
![]() Kyra shouts now, swinging her entire body around at the Jedi Master. "Get on this damn ship now, you scruffy old bastard, or I will come down there and haul you up this ramp with my bare hands!" She looks at the steadily advancing Mandalorians before shaking her head and again aiming at the red-skinned man, trying to give the Jedi a chance to escape. "I hope you can get this bird started fast, Ralk, or we're all gonna die on this sand trap." She sighs and lets loose another volley of blaster fire that whizzes past Qui-Gon and toward his assailant. "Now, you mystic jackass! Move your ass!" Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
![]()
![]() Kyra retreats up the boarding plank, stopping just outside the ship's entrance as she waves the others inside. "Go! Get in, I can handle this." She takes one look at the advancing speeders before she groans and again aims for the nearest speeder and fires. She looks at the Jedi Master dueling the red-skinned man, and shakes her head. "Get on the ship! I'll cover you, just get on the kriffing ship!" Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
![]()
![]() Kyra curses as the cord on her rifle shorts out, and grunts again when she takes a burst of blaster fire. "Ralk, we could use some damn covering fire! Where's that docking gun at?" Once the rifle is powered again, she just fires off another burst of blaster fire despite being unable to brace the weapon. "How long until we can get out of here? Should we start making our way inside? What's that kid doing?" Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
![]()
![]() As a note, Kyra doesn't actually have to reload her weapon. It's hooked up to the internal generator in her armor so that she can fire continuously. I'm fine with having her weapon 'malfunction' instead and require the same kind of action that reloading would to let her fire again, or something else can happen if you'd prefer. ![]()
![]() Shouldn't he still take half damage from me on a miss? Using Burst Fire still seems to be automatic fire and thus would deal half damage on a missed attack, right? I don't believe that's exclusive to it being an area attack, since Burst Fire is described as still being automatic fire but only against a single target. If there's something I'm missing (or perhaps it was hit in an errata or something), just let me know. I'm just confused on that at the moment. ![]()
![]() Yeah, the book's interpretation of what causes Dark Side Points would make it very easy for a lot of characters from the movies have a pretty high Dark Side score. Luke should have somewhere around double the amount, or more, that his listed stat block has him at. I understand the idea behind it, but the Jedi very clearly use the Force in an offensive capacity more than it seems to think. ![]()
![]() Kyra spins when she hears the sound of two lightsaber blades crackling to life against one another. Almost on instinct her finger flicks against the trigger of her blaster rifle, sending a stream of blaster bolts toward the dark-robed Zabrak. Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Using Burst Fire on this mysterious Zabrak. ![]()
![]() Hey guys, this is a blanket notice going out to all of my games here on the boards. While I am thankfully outside the path of Hurricane Harvey, current projections for Hurricane Irma are sending it barreling up the coast of Florida to sweep much of the eastern coast of the United States. As I live directly on the ocean, I'm already gearing up for a potential evacuation at the moment. While hopefully all I get is a lot of rainfall, it's likely that by the time Irma hits Maryland it will still be at least a Category 3 storm, if not worse. I will have my laptop and such in the case of an evacuation, but I likely won't be able to post with any real schedule or frequency. Moreover, given that I live more or less directly on the ocean, it's more likely than not that if I'm forced to evacuate there will not be a home for me to come back to after the storm passes. The island is not built to withstand that kind of storm, and the last time something anywhere near that deadly swept through, it made an inlet where there used to be a road. My point being, if I'm hit by the hurricane it's very likely I will be off the boards for a long while, or at least my posting will be sparse and intermittent. I'm sure I'm not the only one following the storm on the news, but I'll do my best to keep everyone updated on my status. It's likely the storm, if it hits me at all, will make landfall here early next week. If you see on the news that the storm has hit Maryland and you don't hear from me, that's probably why. I just wanted to put this message up now as I'm prone to losing power during storms and I didn't want to leave anyone hanging. Thanks for understanding,

![]() Kyra gives the padawan a grin when he deflects the blaster bolt away from her. "Thanks, kid. Keep that up, if you can." Kyra again aims a focused burst for the now seriously damage speeder bike, hoping the last barrage will disable it so she can continue to fire on other targets. "Where'd the red guy gp? Anyone got eyes on him?" She looks around for a moment, but can't take too much time to search given that they're in the middle of a firefight. "Keep your eyes open, don't want him coming up for an ambush. When the blaster shots ricochet off the Intrigue's hull, Kyra looks momentarily worried. [b]<<"Ralk, any chance you can get the shields up? The new parts won't do us a lot of good if they blow a hole in the ship.">> Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
![]()
![]() Oops, I missed this! Kyra stumbles back from the blaster shot, but the Echani woman doesn't seem to be too worse for wear. "Oh, you're going to pay for that." She adjusts her grip on the repeating rifle in her hands, then narrows in her aim on the speeder bike. Instead of the wide spray she was firing before, this is focused in to blow the speeder she'd be shooting to pieces. "You better hope this kills you." Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Using Burst Fire. ![]()
![]() Kyra aims to attack the largest group of the speeder bikes she can, despite the range. She lets loose a volley of automatic fire toward the speeder bikes knowing that it's unlikely they'll escape completely unscathed. Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Using Automatic Fire, so unless their Reflex is 11 or less, they're still taking half damage. ![]()
![]() I'm not sure where it came from, but there was an error with my Initiative modifier in my header, it should be +12. It doesn't alter the order, it just puts Anakin ahead of me (not that it really matters, since we both move after the first person and before the speeders). Just wanted to let you know. ![]()
![]() I can just spend the cash now, if you want. I've got enough to spare, I believe. I just realized she'd definitely have some sort of targeting sight on her gun. "Mandalorians, incoming. We've got... it looks like sixteen of them. Wait, we've got another. Black robe and a hood, red skin. He's definitely not Mandalorian, or at least he isn't dressed like them. I don't like this." Kyra raises her forearm to her mouth and activates the commlink. "Ralk! Be ready on that docking gun! We've got trouble, incoming!" Kyra braces the heavy rifle against her shoulder, readying to take a shot at the first of the speeder bikes to come in range of her blaster. "Get ready for a fight, boys and girls." ![]()
![]() Kyra zooms in with the holosight of her rifle, narrowing in on the dust cloud. "Give me a second, I'll have eyes on them." Once she's zoomed in well enough that she has any chance of seeing something, she scours the dust cloud to see if she can't find whatever's causing it. She wants to think it's Mandalorians, but she's got a sinking feeling in her stomach. With the broken hyperdrive, she's not sure they don't have something worse to worry about. 'Worst of all, that damn Bothan is probably sweet-talking the ship.' Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Kyra has electrobinoculars, but I realized she would probably have an imaging scope of some sort on her rifle. I may spend some cash to integrate it later, or just get a scope. ![]()
![]() "That doesn't look like a sandstorm to me," Kyra says. She hefts her rifle in the cloud's direction, flicking up the holosight with her thumb. "I'd get ready for a fight. If it isn't the Mandalorians, it's whoever damaged the ship to strand us here. Ralk, let's give them the old Trade Federation welcome, I'd say. Maybe you ought to take the docking gun? Once the ship is repaired, you'll be in the cockpit. Once less thing we need to worry about before we get off this dust ball." ![]()
![]() Kyra keeps quiet while they're not in the ship, but the grin on his face plainly shows her amusement. She spares him until the door to the engine room shuts behind them, then just whistles and shakes her head. "You're a real charmer, aren't you kid? If all goes well and none of us die, maybe she'll be impressed that you got the engine running." It seems for a moment like she might not have realized her own joke, but she just gives Anakin another smug grin. "Just yell if you need me, I'm gonna go make sure none of us die." ![]()
![]() "Hey kid, quit gawking and pay attention!" Kyra points ahead and physically twists Anakin's head around, giving him just enough time to dodge out of the way of a few locals who had wandered into their path. "Don't make me take over for you. Eyes on the prize, flyboy." Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
![]()
![]() Good thinking kid, but we shouldn't move in a straight shot toward the ship. If they're smart, they'll fan out to search the city. If they have any idea where we were, they'll run across us before we make it back. If we snake our way down then move back up toward the ship, we can use the alleyways to get past their search parties without much trouble." Knowledge (Tactics): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31 ![]()
![]() From what I read on some threads where people were communicating with the IT people, it's a problem with ISPs or something like that? For a while we both couldn't get on at the same time ever, last night was the first time that changed. However, I also had a few days without any problems. Thankfully, their Director of Technology said they found the issue and have everyone working on it. So, seems like we'll be back to normal soon. ![]()
![]() Just as a heads up, I know Ralk has been being hit harder than I was with the forum outages. I was texting him last night and while they were working fine for me, he still couldn't connect. He had some other stuff come up too, so I dunno when he even last checked the forums. I'll shoot him a text for you, though. ![]()
![]() If you're game to keep things going, awesome! I was gonna suggest we try and find someone outside the group so we could all keep playing, but if you're game to do it now that's fine with me as well. Thanks for stepping up. I agree with Anakin, also; if you want to keep Panaka in as a GMPC I'd be fine with it, especially if you decide to have him take somewhat of a backseat. Out of all the characters we have in the party, he makes the most sense to take on that kind of a role, so I'd be okay with it. When we shoot you a PM, would you want us to send any things we want to see in the game overall, as well? I know we've done some discussion but if it would help you to have it all in one place I can put that in my message as well. ![]()
![]() That might be a bit much. If we have no other options for a GM and want to keep going, I would suggest just one of us does it. If we share, not only will our characters know specific things others don't but we'd all know plot hooks and stuff that I'd rather experience in play. Ultimately, I don't think it would pan out well. ![]()
![]() If he doesn't show up soon, do we want to see if anyone else is willing to take up the helm? If no one else does, I... might be willing to. I'd have to see if I can come up with a new story that I'm happy with that incorporates certain stuff I like and don't, along with things we've mentioned before. ![]()
![]() Kyra glares at Ralk for a second before she sighs. "No... he's right. If we're going to be under fire, it's a better idea if I'm fighting rather than working on the ship. I'm a better soldier than mechanic, and I'm not small enough to crawl into the tight spaces anymore." Kyra looks at Anakin again, one eyebrow raised. "If this kid wants to do repairs under fire, I won't stop him." ![]()
![]() Kyra puts her weapon down, but still glares at the Mandalorian. "Yeah, unless he's planning to lead us into a trap. Maybe it's not him, Ralk, but something's not right. They don't even know who planted a tracker on us, but whoever it was I'd bet they damaged the hyperdrive. I knew I checked it. They would have known this was the only planet we could make it to. So why haven't they made a play?" Kyra looks around, then settles her eyes on Obi-Wan. "You haven't heard anything from Qui-Gon, have you? No one has attacked the ship?" ![]()
![]() "What makes you think I couldn't get us back to the ship on my own?" Kyra lowers her weapon from Jango's chest but doesn't take her finger off the trigger, eyeing him with suspicion. "Why plant a tracking beacon and plant an ambush, or disable the ship entirely? What would anyone have to gain from not just fighting us there? Ralk, something about this doesn't smell right to me." Kyra gives Jango a hard stare; Echani know body language, and if he's lying she's likely to notice something to tip her off. Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33

![]() Hey all, this upcoming week is my final week of classes for my senior year of college, so posting may be a little sparse (or non-existant, really) until Saturday or so. I will do my best to keep posting and I will at the very least be reading what happens, so I'll be caught up, but I may not be too active. If I find free time (unlikely) I will post in when I can. Otherwise, expect to not see me unless I'm lucky. I know we haven't been moving very fast, but I wanted to throw this out there just in case. ![]()
![]() Kyra talks along with Ralk, trying to persuade the Toydarian to drop his prices on some of his additional upgrades they're looking at for the ship. She has little better luck that Ralk, still perturbed by the failure of the motivator in the first place, but does her best to help anyway. When the Mandlorian bursts through the door Kyra spins as she brings her rifle up and around, ready to fire; when she sees the smuggler signs she looks at Ralk, then nods along with his reply. Persuasion: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19 ![]()
![]() Those days sound good to me, I'm more active those times of the week myself. Also, if even two days ends up feeling like too much after a while I wouldn't be upset if you felt the need to go on hiatus. Obviously I'd rather we keep playing, but if it gets to that point I'd still be around when you got back. ![]()
![]() I'll be here too, no worries about a slower posting rate. I understand this completely and I've had to do similar things with my games in the past. I'll be around and I hope everything works out for her. When stuff settles down for her and you I'll be ready to go again. Also, don't worry about the PM from me for your other game, get to that whenever. Life comes first. |
