Ok..here is Kynneth Stook, a halfling sorcerer, for your approval. Still need to get the background settled, but most of the crunch is there.

Daniel Stewart

I would like to submit Kynneth as a possible member of this adventuring group. As his background shows, while he is a sorcerer, he has a strong interest in the divine, and at higher levels, will be possibly looking to duel-class into cleric, then Mystic Therge. I hope that he meets your approval.

Well good luck to everyone!! Maybe someone else will be starting a new Rise of the Runelords AP soon and we will all get to try again!

Hmmm...seemed to have gotten missed......not good I suppose. Applied way back on the first page, just before the 1/2 Orc cleric....

I present Kynneth Orm as a possible addition to this group. Looking to blend magic and religion, Kynneth is working his way to becoming a Mystic Theurge. I hope he meets your satisfaction.

No problem, I will work up the background and such. Just because I know you does not mean I will get picked, but I just wanted to go over a concept before I posted it out for all to see..and maybe start a firestorm of ninja and samuri characters!!
thanks

Hermia:

Well I am not going to be fawning all over her, she is just a friend, for the most part. I really do not like the "forced" nature of the relationships in the Jade Regent, but I guess it is what it is!! I will stat her up now....should I let it be known to the other players she is a ninja in training?? And what about weapons and such, should I go with a shortsword and throwing daggers, or are a wakizashi and shuriken ok? I would have received the weapons and such from the stash my mother hid away when she frist came to Sandpoint. Or they could have rotted away...your choice.

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Hermia:

Her actual loyalty will be to herself. Sure she agreed to watch over Ameiko, but she sees that more as a friend watching a friend, not as a retainer. And she is also very interested in discovering her heritage and training to become what she thought was a mythical being, a ninja. She wants to hone her skills, and by becoming better then she can help Ameiko....but truely why would she need to, Ameiko lives in a quiet little town running a Tavern. She sees her role as Ameiko's protector as a secondary, or even tertiary concern. She wants to bring back honour to her family, and by becoming a full ninja and perhaps starting (or restarting) her own clan.
I understand what you mean about the PC's being the hero, and believe me she has her own motives, but because the Ap states she needs a hook to one of the "main" characters, this was the way I choose to do it.
Does that make sense?? If it is too difficult, then I can just switch to something else, but I thought it might be fun playing a ninja, pretending not to be a ninja, trying to be a ninja...

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Sorry..just using this space to talk to Hermia about another game she is runnng

Hermia:

Ok, sorry for tall the secrecy. It’s nothing big, but i thought I would do the asking and explaining off the main thread.
I am looking at playing a ninja....ok, ok, I know, but let me give you a bit of background first.

Her family came over the top of the world with the Kaijitsu when they first arrived. Originally they were to protect them. But by the time they reached Sandpoint, only the pregnant wife of the clan's Oyobun was left alive. She carried with her the knowledge of the clan’s skill in a book, which she hid away, along with her weapons and other ninja gear. She settled down into a life as a cook for the Kaijitsu family. When she was born, her daughter (my character) carried on the tradition.
As she lay dying, her mother reveals to her daughter their true calling, and passes the book onto her, with very strict instructions that no one should know who or what she is. Cloaked in the guise of a cook and sometimes rogue, she is to keep her eye on Ameiko, as she had her father.
And so, the daughter became a cook at the Rusty Dragon, and keeps her eyes open for a chance to help Ameiko, and reads her book learning more and more about her lost heritage.

Ok it is a little rough, but that is the general idea. What do you think, is it possible??

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Before he leaves, Kynneth scans the area for magic, checking the skeleton specifically. He then lends his arm to Hermia, gently leading her back out into the fresh, clean air.

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth again utters a few words in the celestial tongue, pouring possitive energy into the battered form of Devin

Heavenly Fire(4/6): 1d4 ⇒ 3

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Well once the skeleton drops I will rush over to Devin and use Heavenly Light on him
Heavenly Light: 1d4 ⇒ 3

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Seeing his companion go down to the fell attack of the skeleton, Kynneth takes a step back (5' step away from the skeleton) and quickly racks his memory for anything that might help give he an edge against this creature. He calls upon the magic in his blood and strikes the skeleton with a heavenly fire.

Knowledge-Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Ranged Touch-Heavenly Fire: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
As this spell is a 30 foot radius, would it also heal Devin?

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Nawww..we can pull this out of the fire...there are still 3 of us.....at least I hope we can!!

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

That looks good to me!

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

LOL...now watch me flub the confirm!!

Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 (doh!!! I knew it!!)

damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Double GULP!!!

Eyes widening, Kynneth barks out the words to disrupt the evil that holds this creature's force on this plane.

Disrupt Undead-Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

Whoot...do I get critical damage with the spell???

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

I am just waiting for the skeleton to act, I think I go after it.

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

GULP!!!

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth mutters a few arcane words, and a silver dart shoots forth from the end of his extended finger. The dart streaks unerringly at the skeleton, striking it.

1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Roll for inititive?

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

still here!!!

Thanks Raventhorn....I really do not like to bail on a game, but this guy is really bad. If you read some of the posts you can see that.

And I hope we get back to your game soon...I am just waiting for Devin to check the door before Kynneth's curiosity makes him see whats on the other side!!!

** spoiler omitted **

Not too sure if I am still in it or not...was slow getting back to him...will have to see ... that was the one with the pregen characters, right??

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Thanks Raventhorn....I really do not like to bail on a game, but this guy is really bad. If you read some of the posts you can see that.

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth moves towards the door in the back of the crypt. He examines it as he gets closer.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth suddenly stops, his face going blank, as if he is trying to hear a distant sound. He slowly raises his right hand and then speaks."I sense something beyond that door...something..dark, and old. We must be very careful." He looks towards Hermia as he speaks, concern covering his young face.

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

DM:

Was there any source of magic in the tomb?

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth gives a lope-sided smile and continues into the crypt. His elven eyes search the dark corners of the room, looking for anything that might seem out of place. He again extends his magical ability.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Detect Magic

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth is trying to look into the crypt to see what is there, but as you said, he has not yet entered...but he is itching to......

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

LOl...good one Devin....shut Kynneth right up!!!

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth looks at the pile of equipment that has been handed to him, then looks up into the tomb. "Umm...is all this for me?? It does not look that big inside, do you really think we need all these tools??"
Taking a few steps forward he looks around inside the tomb, the light from Gaeron and Devon casting enough illumination for his elvish eyes to see.

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth shakes his head. "I, unfortunately, do not have anything which might help." He turns to the others and explain about the stone and Hermia's discovery. "Do either of you have any advice on how to trigger this stone?"

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth looks surprised at the cleric and then smiles. "What a very inventive idea. You are a very resourseful woman, Hermia." He continues to smile at her as she watches the water drain.

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

"I agree that there must be some way into this crypt. Lets us examine this place more closely.

Take 20 on perception: 25

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth turns to tell the others what he has discovered. "Unfortunately I do not have the power to dismiss such a spell, and as far as I can tell there is no other way into the crypt."

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

DM:

Did I detect magic on or near the building, as well as my perception roll...didI discover anything about the crypt?

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth coughs and says, "Actually I find your company strangly comforting."

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Hehe...thanks...I have the crunch here....see what you think, and any/all suggestions are welcome...for some reason I just cannot seem to get a good idea about this fellow....

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

yes...sorry...been busy the last few days...being Thanksgiving here in canada...will try and get a character up tonight and post something online as well (even just a hold spot...I am really interested!!!)

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

I remember your monk rants raventhorn...lol...and I agree for some of it....so a spy it will be...I will have to stat him out now...it was a 20 point build, right!!

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Hmmmm..now I am thinking of an elder Tien monk, acting as an advisor to someone...like a Kwai Chang Caine-like character....so many to choose from ..lol what does the group think?? Spy or monk advisor??

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Looking to maybe being a spy....that would fit, I should think!!

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Hmmm..sounds interesting...I will have to think of what type of character I might play....maybe see what everyone else is interested in...perhaps a rogue detective??

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Kynneth moves slowly towards the crypt. He lets his mundane and magical senses look over the building to discern any information that it may be hiding.

Detect Magic on building
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

hey...I think I know that guy...a real Zero...if I am not wrong..lol

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Wow...your druid scares me...why would she think they would even be interested in her...sheez...
Well I am enjoying the way you are playing Hermia...more role playing then roll playing...and I like the 'conflict' that is developing. Not too sure how Kynneth will respond...this whole adventure is mostly an experiment to him...and his budding relation with Hermia has thrown him for a loop..lol

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

LOL...well it is good to have someone like you playing!! Rightnow in another game, I think the DM is mad at us, so he is throwing tons of monsters at us to kill us off...somehow they surrounded us and escape and surrender are not an option...those are his words....yikes!! lol

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Ahh..ok...well I hope they come back...I am actually enjoying this game, unlike some of the other ones I am in...lol

M Halfling Sorcerer-Elemental/1

Soo..we stil playing?? It has been a number of days since I last saw any posting on this site.
