Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Patience implies the ability to not focus on the time spent waiting.

Phi looks directly into Tabby's eyes. "Your behavior says otherwise."

Enjoy yourself. I'll worry about picking something out later. Like yourself, I have better things to do, for now.

Phi leans toward Tabby. "We will all be happier if none are forced to watch me dance. Is there something else rhythmic I could perform for you instead?"

Phi seems surprised by the barred windows description, but his strongest reaction is to Tabby's recommendation that they try to pretend not to know each other. "If that vase is not already broken, we can see what it will hold, for now."

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Wow. Seriously busy day at work. Sorry for not responding earlier . . ..

"Missionaries?" He curls his lower lip a bit while raising an eyebrow. "The term seems a good choice."

Kun Phi looks from Tabby to Rupert and back. "As I understand things, she's supposed to be showing us a specific orphange, and giving us some of her thoughts about how it might be improved."

A young Tien monk joins Tabby and Iovanna. "My apologies for my tardiness. I was unavoidably delayed. How is it that I can assist you?"

Sense Motive DC 9:
He is not only not being completely honest, but he seems rather pleased.

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Sorry. Spent the past 3 days whimpering in bed. The success of the Pseudoephedrine I took this morning pretty much solidifies that the problem has "just" been allergies.

I'll take a look after I finish apologizing to the people in the games where I was already active!

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

It appears interesting. Don't know enough about the implementation o feel confident about using it.

I understand it is a set of "level" options. There's still an AWFUL lot of ground not defined from where I sit.

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Rum? Tequila!

Have fun, regardless!

The Shadowed Dragon it is, then.

Knowledge: Local 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Phi easily finds his way to the Shadowed Dragon without having to advertise where he's heading. Once he's there, a mysterious stranger informs him that he will be joining an investigation into a suspicious orphanage. "Very well. Do you have any additional information for me? Whom I will be helping? How I will know them when I meet them? The name and location of the orphanage? Or am I supposed to resolve those questions myself as part of a test?"

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Heh. Guess we got started early. I'm still below 50, but older than the rest of you, so only by a couple of years. <shrug> Our 3rd (and youngest) celebrates her 19th birthday tomorrow. This year we celebrated our 28th anniversary and my parents' 50th.

Our one girl chose to be very much the girly-girl. Which is kind of amazing given how much Tom Boy her mother is!

I have no desire to RP any of this out. That would make me very uncomfortable. I am just being silly and having fun.

Part of being an evil woman is seduction and manipulation.

I know a lot of women who engage in those activities and still think of themselves as innocent and caring.

I just started loking at PBP games here on the Paizo site. Heck, I haven't been in a PBP game for YEARS until a couple months ago, when I joined one advertised on the Paradigm Concepts site , and then I started trying to get into games here. I was selected for 2 games this week, actually. I'm not going to try to get into any more for a while at least.

The other here is a RotRL game. I have as much trouble remembering to post using the alias there as I do here. I normally see the lack of a character portrait as soon as it posts, and manage to correct it with an edit pretty quickly (like I did with this post, actually). I still keep forgetting, though.

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Phi looks at the blades on the table, and back to the others at the table. He looks like he's about to say something when Sweet makes her comment, and then he chooses to keep his mouth shut.

Phi picks up the slightly glowing dagger and turns to Lady Natalia, "The glow has meaning, then? Would you please enlighten me as to this meaning?"

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Phi smiles back at Sweet. "And what if you find out that your superior is preparing to end you as a matter of personal convenience? Do not try to pretend that you will not turn on your employer given the right motivation. Self-righteous does not suit you."

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

"My loyalty is where I give it. My goal is perfection. The two can not be in contradiction. At the worst, my loyalty is given in error, and becomes part of what I must purify in order to reach perfection. Everyone has a different path. My path will find me."

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Phi locks his gaze with Sweet. "You seem to not understand Tian loyalty. Once one's word is given to serve, any failure can result in the death of the servant."

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Iovanna's question snaps Phi's attention back to the table. "The young lady introduces a fair point for conversation. Hiring tends to be a two-way conversation. What do you think of your employer? Do you recommend that we 'tie our wagon to theirs?'" Phi scans the ones who seem to already know each other, looking for some reaction.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Don't feel a special need to respond to the dice rolls unless you just want to. I provided them in case somebody WANTS Them.

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Sorry. Twice a month I run a local game day. 1st and 3rd Saturdays. Yesterday was the 1st Saturday . . ..

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Phi cocks his head slightly, looks at the others at the table, and then starts looking around the bar. His eyebrows pressing together as he scans the room, he locks gaze with anyone he catches looking at him. His mind races while he scans the room. I do not understand this feeling. I thought I had gotten used to the fact everyone is judging me and considers what I do, how I dress, how I speak to be wrong. Which of you found an opening? How did you use it? How do I protect that spot in the future? I am still weaker than I had hoped, obviously . . ..

Phi politely claps as each arm wrestling competition ends, though he mistimes the Iovanna/Ragar conclusion, not responding until Iovanna requests the winner's prize. His attention is still focused on the larger room.

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Phi looks between the two women with confusion obvious on his face. "When a skilled artist performs for you, it is a gift. This woman is obviously both skilled and talented, and I find her performance quite pleasing. Were I to interfere with her performance I would not only lose the perspective that allows me to recognize her artistry, but I would interfere with the opportunity of the others in the room to enjoy her performance. I respect the effort and she has put into achieving her artistry too much to interfere.

"At home in Tian, in gratitude for her gift of performance, others would perform for her amusement, based on their skills not on hers. In your lands I have noticed that people tend to either gift money or food and drink in gratitude. Things do not have the same value as the ephemeral."

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Phi sits calmly, sipping his drink, waiting. Well, waiting may be mis-characterizing things a bit. His eyes are following Tabby's movements, but he himself shows no recognition of the music, just of her motion.

In response to Mogir's offer, "Thank you for the offer, but I would feel badly about depriving you of something you obviously enjoy as much as you do those fruits."

Heh. Work got me. Then a Friday night home session. Tomorrow I run a local public game day. I probably won't be back until after it concludes, unless it is just a quick check-in.

Looking back at the two men, And what are your stories? What do you bring to the table besides brawn?

The small Tian man looks at Sweet incredulously, turns and looks up at the half-orc in one direction, then up at the ape-man next to him, and then back to Sweet. "I believe that by comparison to these two, brawn should not be considered my asset. I am a loyal servant to those who earn my service. I attempt to ensure that short term problems are not allowed to destroy long-term concerns. A lord whose servants kill all the peasants has nothing over which to rule, after all.

"As for my story, I am on a voyage of discovery. I completed the training my masters would provide and was sent out into the world to attempt to follow Irori's requirement that I improve upon myself. An amazingly simple task to describe, is it not?"

Ragar wrote:

He gives a wide toothy grin to Kun when the large hairy fellow steps into the bar.

The slight man returns the grin with a pleasant, formal smile. "Pleasure is where one finds it. It is good to find pleasure in your work, when possible. Does your work involve hurting people? It would be a shame if it does not."

Mogir wrote:
He extends a large, meaty hand across the table to whomever will take it. The leathery, black skin on the palm of his hand contrasts with the thick, red fur on the back. "I heard you were looking for some extra muscle?"

In acknowledgement of the offered hand, Phi, again, simply nods. It almost looks like he's trying to bow while seated.

As Sweet makes introductions around, you can see Phi building a list of names in his mind. Once she seems to have finished, "I believe the phrase is 'Well met', yes?"

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

"Giving of yourself usually does not have this much meaning. That is unfortunate." He uses his elbow to indicate the half-orc. "Remember, it is an obligation to provide as much enjoyment as you receive. My time in your lands has taught me that many of your men fail to understand this."

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

Heh. I saw the posts in the recruiting thread instructing people to head to the bar. I saw that this thread broke down into chatter, but I didn't try to find the point where that happened.

So, once I had the character up for evaluation, I headed to this thread to "get involved" and show my style, my impression of the character a little more.

Shortly afterwards, I looked around more and realized that this thread was in chatter mode because you were running already. I felt kinda foolish at that point . . ..

I have no idea which team I would be part of, or IF I'll be part of either. Phi is being offered up as a front-line combatant that Voice says needs to be added.

You guys will probably know as much about what's going on in that regard as I will, or at least as soon.

Male Human (Tian-Dan) Monk 3 (Ki Mystic of the Four WInds)

So, a monk walks into the bar.

No, seriously. A monk walks into the bar.

The door opens yet again, and a short Tian man dressed in something that you guess is normal in his homeland enters the room. A quick glance around seems not to reveal whomever he might be looking to find, and then he approaches the barkeep. "Do you have a thinner ale? I would not wish to create too much of a head-start on those whom I should be meeting."

The barkeep shrugs. "Sure. Right here. 'those whom you should be meeting' have already made an appearance. You're covered. Sure you don't want anything stronger instead?"

The human looks impassively at the barkeep for just a second too long for comfort. "No. Not yet, thank you. Perhaps something hot to eat, though? I'll sit over there." He uses his elbow to point at a table with two empty seats.

As he approaches the table, he addresses those already sitting at it. "My apologies, but the bar seems very crowded, and I am afraid that I am forced to share space. I hope that this does not displease you too much." As the words suggest, he doesn't hesitate to sit before finishing the formal apology for interrupting their space.

1) What, exactly, can you bring to the Blood Knives? Be as specific and detailed as possible.

"I bring nothing. An empty vessel seeking to be filled. A container strong enough to withstand the power of water, light enough to not encumber, and weak enough for a child to fold. This container can be used as you choose.

"It is far more accustomed to handling those who refuse to comply rather than seeking out new patrons."

2) You're able to survive and thrive quite nicely, where do you see yourself two years from the start of the game? In other words, what personal goals, outside of the anything to do with the Blood Knives, would you like to accomplish??

"I seek only to follow the path that Irori has laid out before me. The more I can learn about myself, the more I can perfect that which is me, the closer I will have come to my goals.

"I should note that there is nothing wrong with having sake, women, and song available. Somehow, they make the time spent learning more enjoyable, don't you think?"

3) You're caught in the act. How do you get away? Answering "I never get caught" is the wrong answer and will get you feed to my pet Daemon.

"Caught? Doing what?" Phi's on breaks for a moment, his expression becoming confused. "Ah, that is not relevant. I understand, I believe.

"I leave. If they are slow enough that I can simply flee, then the situation resolves itself. If they are too many to evade, or the situation makes simple flight impossible, then I willingly turn myself over to them, providing no resistance until they give me an opportunity to slip whatever bonds they use, and then I flee.

"If either of these seems too difficult, then I would need to resort to more drastic measures. Bones are amazingly easy things to break. People with freshly broken bones do not tend to be able to prevent the departure of people they wanted prisoner. It is always unfortunate when another forces this choice upon me, but I am trained to ensure that they regret dong so."

--------------

As for the question about how much evil is too much . . .. I'm closer to 50 years old than 40, and am a military veteran. I acknowledge the truths of history. Not just what man has done to man before, but what was casually accepted as normal. This is not the same as condoning or supporting such activity. It does make it far simpler to accept such activity as part of a story, though.

Now, explicitly detailed and graphic descriptions to ensure we understand what is happening are inherently NOT required. There are far less aggressive ways to communicate something if the point needs to be made.

Just an opinion.

--------------

Oh, and I have the full character write-up at least drafted, now. I can expand/detail any part of it more if desired. All the text is really a rough draft, and example of how I write with a little time and no real re-work involved.

No risk HP rolls . . ..
1d8 ⇒ 7
1d8 ⇒ 1

+2/Level from Con & +1/Level from Favored Class (with a 5 minimum on the above rolls and 8 from Level 1) gives 29 HP.

Profile has what I have got typed up so far. I have more to do, obviously. I will answer your IC questions once I have completed at least the top 3 descriptive bits.

Oh, this is hustonj.
