So, I think Talonguard and Kabal? have made their minds up and I think I have an idea about what they picked. Can they re affirm their selections here please? I don't want to post on their behalf in case I am wrong or they want their selection to remain secret. Their choice may well affect their neighbours choices and some of us want to avoid unnescessary duplication if possible.

Hi all,

I haven't seen much In the way of Settlements declaring their settlment type yet. Does this mean people are still choosing? I am sure each settlment is probably negotiating with their neighbours to try and cover all the bases, however, smaller settlements are harder to contact so final choices are probably hard to lock in without all the Info.

For those Settlements that have chosen and don't think it needs to be kept secret, can you please post here so others can finalise their choices?

I know Canis Castrum has openly declared its crafting settlement status, what about everyone else?

I like Golgotha's icon, its one of the more inventive designs, however, it blends into the background. Would a yellow background behind the head accentuate it better so it pops?

Also, maybe Talonguard could use somthing like the top of Raistlin's staff (Talon holding an orb) as a theme to be modified or maybe a Talon holding a gold coin?

Forgeholm could be Hammer and Anvil themed or crossed Hammer and Tong? Only suggestions.

Not everyone has a lot of time or expertise to make icons (I certainly don't), but they really add a personal and identifiable touch to each Settlement. Maybe these Icons can later be modified Into flags or attached to shields and tabbards with crafting skill later on? (hint hint Goblinworks)

GIMP 2 or similar free programs are available to have a crack at it. I am new to these programs and it took me awhile to work out transparencies and layers etc but I am sure some graphical design boffins amongst our community could help us out in completing the map.

This is your take home homework for this evening...class dismissed.

Hi TEO Cheatle,

Could you try uploading TAI icon again to the map. The current one has top and bottom margins missing. I think this is related to our website in some way and the way it displays gallery pictures?

If you click on this link, it will bypass the gallery image straight to the full icon with margins attached. I Should of linked this instead the first time round. Thank you TAI Map Icon

Here is Terra Australis Incognito's (TAI) icon so far Terra Australis Incognito Map Icon

TAI while asking Oceanic members to join up is still open to all time zone applicants and this is certainly encouraged. I am not up with the full mechanics yet, but settlements can apparently set their own 24 hour NPC guard times when most players are offline. This is not a fool proof protection strategy, but certainly helps.

Also consider Wyspr's points, its worth playing when most of your comrades are online and the same time zone disadvantage works both ways for other mostly US or European Guilds.

We are looking to (like most Settlements and Guilds) to set up like minded defence treaties with other Settlements/Guilds and Companies, this will further help to protect us and our allies. This will work to our mutual advantage as we help protect US/European settlements when they are offline and they can return he favour during our offpeak times.

Further assisting Settlement protection is the heavy penalties and loss of reputation for those who grief. Once again, I am not sure of the full mechanics of this system yet and how much protection this will offer in real terms.
