Alas, I do not own Complete Mage.
That kills the Warlock I had planned... Well, thank you for your help. Any tips on how to play a Sanctified creature?
I need help with this template(Found in the Book of Exalted Deeds). Specifically, what a creature loses when the template is applied. It says the creature loses all supernatural and spell-like abilities, but does this include class features and racial abilities?
*Casts cure mod on Dr. D.*
Hope your limbs heal alright!
Joneth Soulborn wrote: Would anyone mind if I took over from Dr. Dark for a bit? For the next couple encounters, at least. I can't say no without being a hypocrite(I'm taking over a White Plume Mountain pbp), so I'll leave the decision to the others.
Not that I'd say no...
Waking up, Koryn begins his daily meditation and prayer for Life's Blessing.
Changing his spells prepared.
Taking first watch, Koryn wonders people are summoning demons...
"We should post watches while we rest. If they find out we are here, they may not be polite and wait till after introductions to attack."
"Of course, should he open the door and charge in, I would not stop him. There is being prepared and then there is doing something for the thrill of it. It's just one of Life's many choices."
Joneth Soulborn wrote: Joneth crosses his arms with a reserved expression, obviously displeased with the party's caution in dealing with the cultists. But he remains respectfully silent. "Don't be like that Joneth, caution is the better side of valor."
"Dartalis, do you have any idea what that creature in there is?"
Dartalis wrote: Dartalis whispers, "I think we have found at least one of the sources of evil in this place."
I am rolling at home too. Just wondering about Num-Rah and Joneth's rolls. Are you using a tool from the boards to roll those rolls that show up green? If so, how do you do it? I would like to try it.
Look in the BBCode tag when you make a post. There is a new code that rolls dice when you put in something like 3d6+3.
"Maybe if we close the door and come back better prepared, we will live to the dawn break once more. Or, you know, when can attack now."
Will:10
Koryn pales as the vile sensations spreads through his body.
As they approach the door, Koryn casts his spells. He gets on half of the group with the first one, and the second half with the next.
Everyone is now under the effects of hide from undead. Mindless undead do not get a save against the spell, but intelligent undead do, so be careful.
"Let's do this."
His morningstar drawn, Koryn walks over to the door, and gets ready to open it.
"Everyone ready?"
"Are we heading through that door?"
"You may be right, Joneth. Which is why I would prefer not to face it injured from fighting all the mindless undead that have been set to hinder our progress if not kill us outright."
"I have two spells today that should hide us from the less intelligent undead we encounter, until we turn attack them in some way. Touching them also negates the spell, as does using a spell on them. If we do not wish to be ambush, the spells may be our best option."
With one last look at the displacer beast corpse, Koryn walks after his allies.
Koryn looks at the downed displacer beast intently, a strange look on his face. But the expression fades as he looks at his companions.
"Is anyone hurt?"
Thanks Dr. Dark!.
Koryn readies himself for battle, holding his shield before him and holding sap high as he charges them.
Attack:1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 11
Percentile(called high to hit):1d100 ⇒ 47
Damage(nonlethal):1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7

was Koyrn spell right at the beginning of this fight count as his move, or is he going now?
Good point.
Init:1d20 ⇒ 2
Koryn sighs.
"No one is going to try and keep them alive, are they? Very well.."
His next words are a spell that holds divine power, and he seems to become heartier as it takes effect.
Koryn casts Aid on himself. Provides a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and saves vs. fear effects and 1d8+caster level in hit points. It lasts for 24 round(4 minutes). He still has his sap out.
HP bonus from Aid:1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
"At the creature threatening us this time is alive. I'd prefer to avoid killing it if we can't avoid a fight all together."
Putting away his morningstar, Koryn takes out his sap and makes sure it is still in working condition.
"And are they smart enough to realize we won't take that path?"

"Well, other than the decor, this place could make a decent place should we need to retreat rest. Once we clear out the ants and bones, that is."
"Does anyone know what the Ace of Spades represents?"
"Strange, there is no magic in this room. Perhaps the man was poisoned and left here?"
Koryn walks over to the table and picks up the deck of cards.
Num-Rah wrote: "Those cards... it seems strange that someone should die playing them. Perhaps they are poisonous or cursed? Have you received answer to your prayer, priest?" "I'll worry about the cards after I am sure there are no magical threats here. I do not wish to be attacked by an unseen minion of Orcus."
"Perhaps they are merely divination tools."
Marcus 'the Mouse' Dana wrote: Joneth Soulborn wrote: "We encountered an undead skeleton in the mausoleum. I'll take no chances with this one."
Joneth brings his gleaming sword down on the skeleton's skull. "So much for respecting the dead." "You do not need to be noble to be a paladin Marcus, merely chosen."
"What a great time to not be a druid..."
Holding his holy symbol, Koryn mutters a small spell that allows him to see the presence of magical auras...
Detect Magic on the room.
Dr. Dark! wrote: You all make your way cautiously back to the point in the tunnel where it branched. As the left hand fork took you to what amounted to a dead end, you decide that the right hand passage may offer better means of progress.
You carefully follow the passage for about 20' until it opens into a rectangular room, around 30' long by 20' wide. The room is strewn with bits of bones and loose dirt. A cool breeze blows by, and whispering can be heard off in the darkness. This room has several small piles of
bones that appear to have originated from the graveyard above. The air is drafty and rather fresh. You can make out a closed wooden door on the far side of the chamber.
"Be careful, it would seem the ceiling is falling apart. Let us be through this room quickly."
Moving cautiously across the room, Koryn heads for the closed door.

Ulven Dragonskin wrote: "Truly it would take an army of priests to cleanse this place. We will be respectful of the dead, but they are dead! Their spirits have fled to join their ancestors. They reside here no longer. Let us honor their lives by seeing what it held!" "Let us release their souls from their imprisonment should they be undead!"
Num-Rah wrote: "Leave it be", says the Litorian. "It is enough that in this cloaka of evil still exists a touch of goodness. Why must we desecrate it?" "This place is already unholy. It's desecretion would only help Orcus, it would be better to come back with many priests to consecrate the site."
Humming softly, Koryn follows with hs morningstar ready.
Num-Rah wrote: Num-Rah goes back, and then approaches the paladin. "There is a coffin there. Go up and take a look. Try to sense any evil, so that we can prepare ourselves. Than I shall go to spit Orcus in the eye." Litorian grins, showing huge fangs. "It is good to be brave, my feline friend, but not to be foolish. At least be sure the rest of us are with you when you go to spit at Orcus.'
"He shouldn't be using undead like this anyway..."
"Some poor fool seems to have raided this place. I fear we may see said fool soon... as one of Orcus' undead minions."
Koryn slowly walks forward, making his way toward the coffin with his morningstar ready, and looks into it...
Koryn chuckles softly as he listens to the conversation. Mostly to himself he says,
"Ah, these new allies seem to bring out our comments with ease, be they in jest or no. This adventure may not be as dreary as I had thought."
Ulven Dragonskin wrote: "Look, fanged one! What a wonderful smell we've discovered!" Ulven brings up the rear, keeping his sword out and ready. Koryn calls back to him.
"Ha, I think you'll be a good ally! It is quite a feat to have a sense of humor in a place such as this!"
Joneth Soulborn wrote: "Ugh, gods above! What could possibly smell so bad?"
"The rotting dead, Joneth. Everyone be careful, I have little healing magic at my disposal."

Ulven Dragonskin wrote: "I know there is supposed to be much evil in this place, but I am not seeing it! Perhaps if we were to go deeper? I hear evil likes the deeper places!" "Trust me, we have already battled an skeleton. It moved as if still alive. Fortunately, we managed to avoid any harm."
"This place... it makes me feel sick. Every spell I cast leaves an empty feeling in me, like I'm being cut off from Life itself. I say we find a way to destroy this place when we are done here."
"And so we return to the lair of the beast. The only question is, are we prepared to do anything to stop it?"
Not waiting to listen to anyone's answers, Koryn follows Marcu and Num-rah into the crpyt.
"Well, let me welcome you if you choose to join us. It is always good to have more when fighting Orcus's minions."
Koryn lets the rain wash over him, letting it cool him down as he attempts to regulate his breathing.
"As blessed as I think this rain is right now, I can't help but think it an omen."
Joneth Soulborn wrote: The paladin staggers back, overwhelmed by the terrible stench.
"Phew! That smell is a more dangerous barrier than an entire army of skeletons! Do we go down and see what these villains are up to? Or should we investigate the other crypts first?"
"I say close it and let us explore the other crpyts first. I do not want to be trapped between enemies."
Black Tom wrote: Suffice it to say that I'm jealous like hell, even though you will probably all die horribly. Don't worry, I have way to get the dead characters up and walking again!
Which may or may not involve the scrolls and black onyx gems in my backpack... ;)
But rebuke lets me control if succesul... Oh well, it would have been destroyed by the paladin and the ranger anyway...
"Well, that was exciting wasn't it?"
