Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Toughness Test (1d100=30) Success!

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd watches the actions of his companions, as if in slow motion, and feels tugged in two directions. His fear tells him to run, hide, crawl, jump out a window, go wherever he can to get away from that little green ball. But his mind is one of fighting the deepest, darkest foes and fighting the fear that comes with them. He springs to attack the innkeep, though it may result in a meaningless death, he can not dishonor his clan by fleeing.

Weapon Skill roll with +10% for charge (1d100+10=33) Right arm. What are the odds of two hits to the right arm? Damage with Hammer (1d10+4+1=9)

Korgidd, seeing the innkeeper molesting some green energy, tenses to dive, either at the innkeeper, hammer first, or, more likely, behind some cover.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Perception test (1d100-10=29)
Int 28
Failure. I think. I have the perception skill, but I don't have my book in front of me to tell me if that grants me a bonus or not.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd carefully considers each of the pistols in the assembled Lawgivers' hands. Deciding that he would rather not die with a bullet in his brain pan ("Squish") he begins to remove his road stained armor and clothing. He is careful however, to keep his hammer in at one hand, passing to the other as needed to remove his upper garments. He also keeps a watchful eye on the innkeeper.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd throws in his own words, hoping to further convince the Lawgivers of Vulpert's statements, "He speaks true yer Lordship. It is every dwarf's duty to root out the tainted like smelting impurities from ore."

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd listens to Vulpert's eloquent speech and frowns at the underlying patronizing tone. Hopefully the Lawgivers don't pick up on it.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Lowering his hammer and shield, Korgidd sighs in exasperation.
"Yer Lordship. I have no idea, how I am mixed up in this, because I genuinely have no idea what in the Northern Wastes is going on! I'm asleep, I wake up to a scream, my door is kicked in, I see tentacles outside my window, the innkeeper tries to butcher my comrade's manhood, someone shouts that the innkeeper has the eyes of Chaos under his clothes, then you show up out of nowhere! If someone can explain it to me, I would be amazed."

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

"Eyes? What in the depths of the mountains is going on?!?"

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Welcome Valegrim

Perception test on the innkeeper. (1d100=92) fail.

Korgidd is confused by the innkeeper's actions, and upon seeing him attack Vulpert he rushes to the human's aid.

Attack the innkeeper on my turn

Weapons Skill for attacks on innkeeper (1d100=27, 1d100=53) One hit. One Miss.

Damage with warhammer on innkeeper (1d10+4+1=8)

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

"Wait!" Korgidd shouts at Vulpert. "What are ye doing?" Korgidd tries to figure out why the human attacked the innkeep and why in the hell the innkeep is shouting murder. He readies his hammer and shield purely for his own defense and tries to make some sense of the chaos unfolding in front of him.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

"Ye block-headed fool! We aren't skipping on the bill, there is something on your roof! My name is Korgidd Darragdem, and by me beard and me ancestors, you'll be paid for our expenses. Now how in the name of Grimnir can we get to the roof?" Korgidd seems exasperated by the number of times he has had to swear by his clan just to get around town. Bunch of faithless bearded gnomes!

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

"That's right you big Norscan fool! Be happy there is some warp monster outside the inn!" Korgidd, smiles at the warrior, despite himself. "Let's hope there is enough for both of us," he says with a wink.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

"What in the beards of Grimnir was that" Korgidd points to the window and tells his companions what he witnessed. He turns to the innkeep, "Is there a way to the roof? Get everyone down stairs, now!" With that, he grabs his shield and with his hammer ready he goes in the direction indicated by the innkeep. If there is no egress to the roof, he warns everyone to back away from the window and waits to see if the appendage appears again.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd shakes his head, beard following the motion, at Kol and his exchange with the innkeep. "We'll fix it or cover the repairs, have no fear."

To Kol, he turns, "Next time try opening the door before you blast it to splinters."

Perception 1d100=07 Success. Hoody-Hoo!!!

Cocking his head to one side, Korgidd motions for quite. "Did anyone else hear that?"

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Caught up in all the commotion, Korgidd tries to focus on the roof above. He hears no sounds at first, save those of his roommate and compatriots, so he listens harder.

Perception test 1d100=67 Fail

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Rikarus's shout brings Korgidd to life. He springs up hammer and shield in hands and peers through the dark of the room, quickly scanning with his dwarf eyes. seeing only Rikarus, apparently awoken by some foul night tremor, he snorts once and settles back down. His mind wanders for a bit before he lets himself start to drift back to sleep.
"Keep quite boat man. Some of us have killing to do tomorrow," he grumbles.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd sleeps fitfully. Dreams of pain and fear underground, toss his mind. The first swing of a hammer in screaming combat, the first sickening thud of a kill, these things play through his vision. The cold granite feeling that fills his heart as he learns to live for the fight, takes him deeper into his dreams. Then, blackness and the sounds of distant wall drumming, the scratch of clawed feet, the moans of chaos...

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Perception test 1d100=56 Failure

Korgidd takes up a room with the ferryman. Once everyone is settled in, he makes himself comfortable up against the door, and dozes off, dreaming of tunnels and the sounds of mining. His hand does not stray from his hammer.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

"Ten crowns?!? Even if Bugman himself served it, I still wouldn't pay that. Give me a good dwarfen stout and we'll call it a day." Korgidd mutters into his beard about the legal robbery perpetrated in some establishments.

Nothing further to discuss here. Anyone object to pressing on?

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

"Your words echo my thoughts. But little more can be done, than just being aware. A hammer, asleep, is only a doorstop." Korgidd snorts, "My clan matriarch used to say that when she was deep into her ales." He drifts off a bit as he finishes his meal and ale. He settles in to his seat, absentmindedly chewing on a piece of mutton, stuck in his back molars.
He leans forward, and whispers conspiratorially, "Probably best if we sleep two to a room. Leave the other two empty. For protection and to keep our potential foes on their toes."

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd's eyebrows raise at the mention of Bugman's.

"Bugman's ye say? A pint here. And a leg of that mutton."

Korgidd, sits waiting for his libations and meal, pondering the days events. While he still believes that his decisions today were the only honorable options, he can't help but feel like the manling, Vulpert, may be right. It did feel a bit like a setup. No matter, however, the past was ore already smelted, as his grandfather used to say, and now it was time to hammer the present into the future Korgidd desired. Korgidd's only concern was in regards to the dwarf, Turko's honor. Would he try to cheat at the fight? Or even more despicably, try to prevent Korgidd from making it there at all? Korgidd decides to take caution with the evening, mentally noting those that come and go from the inn and decides to sleep on his guard tonight. Sleeping in his armor with hammer and shield in hand is nothing new to the tunnel fighter, and it may turn out to be a wise decision until this business is handled.

Spoiler:

Perception (Int 28) test for awareness 1d100=24 Success

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Vulpert's question brings Korgidd's thoughts back to the present.

"Tis true, that I am trained not for wrestling with other dwarfs, but for fighting the greenskins and other horrors of the deep tunnels. I have spent most of my years swinging hammer or axe, not fists. But it is no matter. My honor is as sound as the ringing of smithy hammers on gromril. That Turko's honor is the flat of flawed ore."

Upon reaching the inn, Korgidd ushers his charges inside and answers the inn keeper. "Aye. Four rooms and meals."

For Radavel

Spoiler:

Facing the stout dwarf behind the inn keepers counter, Korgidd eyes his necklace with more than passing curiousity, but careful not to arouse the inn keeper's notice. Dwarfcraft modified Perception test to determine materials?

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

"The ferryman is right. I am only a representative of my clan. I will not dishonor them."

Korgidd puts his focus on navigating the streets of the Hold and finding a good tavern for the night.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd, turns again to the pit fighter, and the crowd in general, "Know that I am Korgidd Darragdem, Soldier of Barak Varr, Son of Rourke of the Nines, Grandson of the Longbeard Korgidd Orcslayer, descendent of the Master Runesmiths of Clan Darragdem. My word is as solid as my shield and as true as my hammer. I will be here tomorrow, I will fight you, Turok Mutterbeard, in the circle and Grimnir help any that try to prevent it."

To the dwarfen Lawgivers, he says "I may have struck him first, but on my oath and ancestry, as I have just sworn, it was at his insistance. His knife bears the blood, albiet weakly, of the manling that he intended to murder over a bet. I struck to save a life, even one so base as a debtor, because I know of no dwarf holds that would allow such a thing. I offered to help him escort the manling to the local magistrate for a proper reckoning of his transgressions, but was rebuked. My honor would have been sullied had I allowed him to commit murder, whilst I had the means," at this he raises his hammer, "to prevent it."

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

"Have no concern for my beard, Turok," Korgidd spits the name. "I do not relish the idea of slaying another dwarf, but you seem intent upon it and a soldier of Barak Varr will not shirk from your challenge. I will meet you with hammer and shield in the circle, on the morrow after I have seen my wards to the Hold, if that is how you wish it."

At that, Korgidd nods in respect to the Lawbringers and makes to lead the manlings with him to the relative safety and order of Skalf's Hold.

He turns briefly to regard the pitfighter, "I will see you tomorow and then this will be settled."

Korgidd will be at the pit tomorrow, but he intends to see his wards to the Hold as promised and to get a goodnight's sleep first.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Setting his face into a grim mask of death, Korgidd raises his hammer, "You asked for it." Then lowering his arm, he points his hammer at the dwarf, shouting in Khalazid, "Dar A Grund!" and charges his foe. Swinging his hammer in short powerful strikes, like a smith to hot metal, Korgidd presses his foe, seeking to move his attention from the manling on the ground, to a more capable target. Himself.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Blustering at the obvious bluff, "Fifty Gold Crowns?!?! I'd sooner let you negotiate with my hammer than believe that to be the sum. I'll give you 3 crowns for the manlings life, one for each decade of his pathetic beardless exsitence, and not a bit more."

Spinning his hammer once in his hand, Korgidd adds with a scowl, "Its a far better deal than you'll get if you slit his throat... Take the deal."

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Eyeing the dwarf and the manling beneath his blade, Korgidd pauses only a moment before responding in Khazalid, "It is no Dwarfen custom to slaughter those that are obviously weaker, even if they are cheats. That is not glory, it is only base murder. How great is his debt that it requires his death to settle it?"

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Without looking away from the dwarf, Korgidd says to Kol, "Maybe up where the ice is thick, that's the law. But in dwarf lands, thralls are slaves, and no one is to be made a slave. Not even a wretch of a manling."

To the dwarf, "Now, what's it gonna be? To the magistrate for him, or the healer for you?"

Sick here. Please bear with me.

No worries.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd watches the dwarf tackle the man with little interest, until the dagger is drawn, "Now hold on just a minute! Is there no order in this pit? If he bet what he didn't a'have he deserves punishment, but that's the anvil, not yer vengeful blade!"

Korgidd readies his hammer and shield and moves to confront the dwarf.
"Back off him now, and I'll help ye escort him to the magistrate."

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

"Fair enough lad. Just be cautious..."

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Raising his eyebrows apprehensively, Korgidd turns to Kol, "Careful lad. Even the rabbits in a place like that have the teeth of rats. you may end up sharing more with her than you intend...."

Turning to the others, "Best we press on to the Hold. Not linger here too long."

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

The thrid option is skipping it, leaving them to their own debauchery, and drinking in the Hold.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

"Come manlings! The ale in the Hold will make your urine smell like a warrior's. Instead of drinking the ale in the shantytown. Which is urine."

Setting his short legs pumping like pistons, Korgidd makes his way to the Hold.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Didn't realize we knew each other. My bad. Please feel free to make non-combat rolls for Korgidd.

Korgidd stops his lone march to the Hold and turns to regard the group of manlings he had been traveling with. Seeing their delay at the toll collector, he waits and grumbles into his beard.

"C'mon manlings! Pay and enter before the stouts and ales go flat!"

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd pays the guard the 5 schillings, makes his mark (a shield flanked by hammer and axe) and presses on, making his way to the Hold and taking in the sights and sounds of the dwarfen city.

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd responds with typical dwarfen demeanor, "We've come for the depths of the Dragon's Crag. Let us pass."

Korgidd eye's the guard and also inquires, "A stout brew would be which way? I can't kill nothin' on an empty stomach..."

A mighty rune weapon seems rather appropriate.

That or maybe a suit of Gromril...

I operate in EST. Thanks for the reminder about the dwarfen bit. It has been awhile for me and WFRP. I'm really looking forward to this. Also, rolled the GCs and got a lousy 6. I'll try to come up with a back story on why Korgidd is in Karak Azgal. I'll get it posted this weekend with any luck.

Here's Korgidd. Ready when you all are.
