Male Halfling Transmuter5
Camris wrote:

Just like Sir Manfred. Last Baron's Tower was a while ago. Can my halfling transmuter have that potion of enlarge person back?

It's good to see you. And I'd love to see you play a knight again.

Cheers

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Thank you, I appreciate that.

Knotty retires back to his river and halfling village, reminding the General of his promise never to bother the mage again. And he lived .....well let's leave it there.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty piles up the wands and scrolls, sorting out the arcane from the rest and sighing at the wand of magic missiles.

"I'll take these. Manfred you keep the potion I gave you. Any Lord needs a good potion of enlarge person for the right occasion."

Knotty and me will drop out after this. It has been alot of fun to get this chance and I have enjoyed playing with most of the PC's i.e. Galadar, Eria, Manfred, Hru and Liandra.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Boo.

Sighing and shaking his head like a wise old veteran, he pats as high as he can on Galadar's arm and laughs, "the one that got away, heh?"

Then he goes back to the gates to see what's happening there.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty looks at Galadar, "this your witness? He's a numpty."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knooty points at the bartender, "come with us now, the general will hear your evidence."

Secretly the halfling is chuffed at getting a bit of payback against these racist Piren Bluffers.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Just like a 4E skill challenge, something I approve of. Gives everyone a better chance of helping out.

Knotty relaxes a little, "I wish we had captured the Baron's handler though. The one that got away wearing girl's clothes."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Yay, Manfred, the People's Champion.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

"We serve the cause of freedom from tyranny and the future of the good people of Andoran, not as lackeys of Cheliax!" Knotty adds from somewhere around Manfred's knees.

Diplomacy aid check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Male Halfling Transmuter5

"So someone important, perhaps more so than the Baron, wanted to escape us. Who could that be? I'm guessing it was the Baron's mistress or even master. Oh well they will be long gone by now."

Knotty looks at Liandra, "did you find a wand on the Baron? Yes good. Its valuable and dangerous."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty sidesteps the guard, then he runs straight in to help Liandra.

"Quick, Manfred, the Baron and Liandra are this way!"

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty steps back outside and shouts for Hru to come and help. "We may need your healing!"

Knotty is pretty tapped out of spells, but one last trick up his sleeve.

Never one to miss a chance, while the guard watches Manfred, Knotty summons his fist of force and attacks the Baron's misguided servant, aiming for his head.

Ranged touch attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25, damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty smiles at the pair of guards and casts a spell, watching to see if they both fall. If not then he backpedals twenty feet away towards the open doorway called for Manfred and Galadar.

Color spray DC14 Will save or they are out of the fight.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Where are we at with the two guards of the Baron?

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty moves up to Liandra and casts a spell upon her, briefly wings appear on her heels.

"Get after the Baron. I'll take these."

Knotty moves then casts expeditious retreat.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty returns fire, aiming his last glitterdust at the Baron, but making sure to avoid Liandra. Then the little halfling ducks down below the level of the table and chairs, gaining as much cover as he can.

DC15 Will save to negate possible blindness, glitterdust

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty has always liked Liandra. Now just a bit more.

The little mage staggers a little under the weight of the Baron's attacks. His eyes arrow and he prepares to respond in kind.

I'd like that wand. Nice wand.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

effing gits.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Hru? Galadar? Anyone passing by?

Knotty stares down the barrel of the wand instead of acting. Frozen for the split second too long.

gulp!

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty hasn't moved from his previous position near the webbed door. Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

The halfling whirls round in surprise.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty dispels the webs with a smirk, just as they start to burn.

"Everyone should be a wizard."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

This is the door at the top of the stairs isn't it? The other one is webbed.

Knotty sees Manfred open the door and drops his empty scroll pulling out the combat wand.

"Good work lads, and you Eria. That shiny archon rocks."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

"Wedge the door with a dagger someone. I thought knight's are strong, my granny could hold back the door with some brains. Or drink the enlarge potion I gave you, it will make you bigger and stronger!"

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty is at K5 by the doors he webbed.

With a professional smile of satisfaction, Knotty nods to Galadar.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Not sure if I still have an action this round, DM? Here goes.

Knotty quickly reads from the scroll, words tumbling after each other as he casts the spell at the kegs.

Glitterdust 10ft square covers everything in sparkling golden dust, DC13 Will Save from the scroll or blinded too.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty pulls out his scroll of glitterdust and waits. He scans and listens as best he can for any signs of the demon.

"Give up now or we will pull off those wings and use you for a hatstand. Tell us where the Baron is and you might save that precious skin of yours."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty points behind Manfred, "watch that git's sneaking out!"

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Perception check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty steps inside and checks that everyone else is already there, then he webs the doorway.

I think all the party ran in before Knotty.

"That should help."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Knotty moves over to the entrance when he sees Liandra pick up pace, and pulls out his combat wand (web).

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty shouts over to Galadar and Eria, "watch out for a monster with lots of teeth inside!" He grins at the risks in his job.

beats fishing.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty comes too but does not get involved in the corpse. He carries on towards the gates a bit but waits for the others to finish messing around.

He looks round at the people not walking on by, looking for a storekeeper or someone else to ask, "look, did you see what happened to that man? Who knocked him down and fired him."

Semi-normal service should be resumed now that half-term is over and we have "adjusted" to having a second child.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty runs back to the group tout-de-suite.

"Listen everyone, there is a woman downstairs that the guards are questioning. She is tight with the Baron and his demons and may know where he is. We should get involved quick. Oh and there are lots of other guards down there but no organised resistance for us...yet."

"Come on."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

"Where's Caira?"

Once he has this information, Knotty heads back upstairs to tell the rest.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty joins the melee and asks a couple of the guards if they have seen the Baron lately. He keeps a potion and a wand handy in case things turn nasty.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

When Knotty gets downstairs what does he find, DM.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

I'll check downstairs. Call me if it all goes tits up.

Knotty heads down to see if the main hall is guarded or there are any nasty surprises ahead. He does this very carefully so as not to warn the Baron or his troops.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Cool picture! I couldn't play this git for a campaign.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty shakes his head as the group start searching.

"This is wasting time. We tried and failed or he is outside at the barracks and we will be facing the rest of his soldiers. We should go. This is a bad mistake."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty was wishing for a fireball spell for the guards and he wanted to save his last spells for the Baron.

Seeing Hru go wild, Knotty tries to spot the imp demon and if he does he will glitterdust the beast.

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23, right he will fire off the spell at the blurred area.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Knotty shrugs at Liandra's exclamation. He gives the views a brief cursory glance and then continues looking for the imp.

"We should leave here, the imp could be long gone and the Baron is probably laughing in his beer over us messing about still. Let's go get him, slot the bastard and home for tea and cakes."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

DM - are any of the windows or doorways still open. Could the imp have got out?

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Good luck with that, TD, I sympathise. And I'll remind you later.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty purses his lips, "someone can run back upstairs to look for beakers of powders and the like, sand and sulphur, whatever that can be thrown at the invisible demon. Just in case my spell does not work."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

When he gets a chance, Knotty steps through the door and slips down the right hand side five feet. Then he tries to catch glimpse of the invisible creature.

Perception check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty takes out a scroll of glitterdust and waits to for an opening to run out.

"Tell me where the demon hides and I'll glitter it again."

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty has used his arcane bond, can't remember what for but I think it was a charm person again. Knotty is all about the mission and has little time for side treks or helping the guards but he isn't going to try to stop you guys being all honourable.

Horrible little halfling that he is.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Feel free to look after Knotty if needed over the next ten days. I am very busy with Easter, work and prepping for a 3 day homecon next weekend.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

His shoulders slump a little.

Male Halfling Transmuter5

So the roof and walls are all stone and there are no windows or skylights? That narrows down our choices here. I wasn't planning on going back the way we had come.

Knotty takes a moment to study the circle carefully. "If they cannot find us then perhaps they will be gone when we go back the way we have come."

Knowledge (Arcana) 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22. Is this pentagram some means of escape? Could Knotty use it to get everyone away?

So, with 1st edition coming to a close with regards to new content and the scuttlebutt being that there will be more high tier options in Season 10 I want to discuss a prickly topic, Save or Sucks. Now, this topic has probably been beaten to death before but with the final season looming and no more new content for 1st ed coming out afterwards it's probably something that should be talked about.

I was playing a recent 7-11 scenario and the boss dropped a SoS round one as part of their written tactics. I rolled a natural 1 and with my re-roll got the same result. I was then out of the hour and half long combat with nothing to do and this isn't the first time it has happened to me other others. What I'd like to ask is that those writing scenarios and GM's alike to hold off using such tactics on round one. Not the elimination of their use, just not on round one. With limited new content for 1st ed. left, maximizing play time is going to be a high priority for many because not all venues/players will have the availability/option to continue playing this edition.

Now, I know people may comment about being prepared for such things or the party doing something to help out or bad rolls happening will come up. And I know with some party compositions and the ways some play that enemies don't last past round one, but not all play this way. I'm also not asking for easy-mode or kid gloves. I'm not asking for SoS to be removed just don't have tactics written that the drop them round 1. Hold off using them until round 2 or 3. I hope it's not too much of a request.

What are other people's thoughts? Was I too redundant? How's your day going? I hope it goes well. And remember...

Grand Lodge 4/5

What the subject states. I read through the SFS guide but didn't see anything, although I could have missed it. My guess is that it will since they're tied to the same PFS account number but I just wanted to be sure. Anyone know?

So, the Wild Hunter archetype from Ranger gets the Animal Focus ability as follows:

PFSRD wrote:
Animal Focus (Su): At 1st level, as a swift action a wild hunter can take on the aspect of an animal, gaining a bonus or special ability based on the type of animal emulated. This functions as the hunter’s animal focus class feature (see page 27), though this only applies to the wild hunter and not an animal companion (see shared focus, below). The wild hunter can use this ability for 1 minute per day per ranger level. This duration does not need to be consecutive, but it must be spent in 1-minute increments. He can only emulate one animal at a time. This ability replaces all instances of the favored enemy class ability.

Now, this specifically calls out how it works and that your animal companion doesn't benefit from Animal Focus until you get the Shared Focus Ability. What it doesn't call out is the third paragraph of Animal Focus from hunter which reads

PFSRD wrote:
If the hunter’s animal companion is dead, the hunter can apply her companion’s animal focus to herself instead of her animal companion. This is in addition to the normal one she can choose, and (as with a companion’s focus) remains in effect until the hunter changes it instead of counting against her minutes per day.

Does the Wild Hunter archetype also get this part of the ability since it specifically states it functions as the the hunters' Animal Focus class feature and says where it differs?

Thoughts?

Hey all, if you haven't seen the Myth Kickstarter yet you should really check it out. The game is a co-op dungeon crawl miniature board game along the lines of Descent or the D&D board games. We're currently clearing stretch goals like mad and the amount of bonus stuff you get for pledging is well worth it. If you're a fan of hobby level miniatures, dungeon crawling board games, or just want to help a great company out, come take a look! It's going to be great!

So I was tromping around KS the other day and I found this truly awesome video game project called Project Awakened. It looks to be a massive undertaking but they are touting the game as a Action Adventure game with a character customization tool that truly allows you to make whatever you want. Want to be an awesome run and gun solider, do it! Want to be an ultra stealthy techno ninja, do it! Want to be a super powered fire blasting tornado making methuman, do it! I think this kind of project and innovation is the kind of creativity and ingenuity that can really breathe some new life into the Action Adventure genre.

Plus for a mere $25 you can get the FULL GAME plus BETA ACCESS.

I strongly recommend you all take a look at it.

So I had a player recently join my ROTRL campaign and part of his backstory is that his character lost an eye. Now, I think I remember reading somewhere that this can impose a penalty to perception checks but I'm not exactly sure of the value of the penalty. I was also wondering if the perception hindrance was the only such penalty or if there were others or any at all.

As the title says I just moved to Kentucky, specifically the downtown Louisville area, and I'm in some dire need of gaming. I'm looking for either a home campaign group or some PFS action. Sadly, there currently is no Venture Captain or Venture Lieutenant to point me in the right direction. So, I came here to the helpful and friendly, most of the time, Paizo boards! Hopefully someone will be able to help me out. I haven't been able to get to the local game store, which nice enough is only 2 miles away, but thought I'd check here first to find out. Please, if you're in the area let me know. Feel free to either PM or reply here. Thanks!

So, I found this article today.

And I really agree. What happened to our darker side of space operas? What happened to sci-fi in general? We haven't really been seeing a lot of it lately. Besides those mentioned in the article the only other things coming out are Mass Effect 3, Transformers Fall of Cybertron, and maybe a handful of others there isn't much in the sci-fi market for entertainment. Is it disappearing?

So, I'm making an item for a PBP campaign I'm in and I wanted to make an item that combined a number items that would help someone infiltrate an organization/party/event. It essentially combines the Ring of Mind Shielding, Hat of Disguise, and Robe of Blending with an extra +5 to Bluff. I'll list the item below, but the problem I'm having is determining cost. I took the Ring of Mind Shielding and multiplied the cost by two, since rings usually cost half as much, added 75% of the cost of the Robe of Blending, half the cost of the Hat of Disguise, and then doubled the cost of a +5 skill bonus. It came out to 23,950 and I just rounded it for the sake of ease to 24k. Does this seem reasonable for cost or did I over/under calculate it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cowl of the Infiltrator
Aura Varies; CL 10th

Description
This simple black black cloth hood with small mantle is prized by spies and assassins alike for it's versatility of applications when subterfuge and infiltration is required. It allows the wearer to disguise themselves as another humanoid species as per alter self along with a convincing clothing to match their altered shape. This change lasts for 1 hour or is dismissible as a free action. This ability is usable at will. Additionally, the hood renders the wearer immune spells that would blow their disguise and cover; specifically, detect thoughts, discern lies, and any magical attempt to discern alignment. As an added bonus the cowl also provides a constant +5 bonus to bluff attempts to stay in character.

This surprised me.

I didn't even know they had plans for this and they're in post-production and release is slated for this year?

Was I living under a rock or has it been kept under the radar?

So, I just finished a mod and I've got a stock pile of gold lying about for my 12th level dwarf fighter and I'm not sure what to do with it. I've got some ideas but not completely sold on them. I thought I'd come to the boards and see if anyone had any interesting ideas. I've got a little over 25.5k in gold. Here's a list of what I've already got:

Arms and Armor:
+3 Evil Outsider Bane Dwarven War Axe with the Transformitive property (+4 total enhancement)
+3 Dwarven Full Plate with Light Fortification and the Restive properties (+4 total enhancement)
+3 Heavy Steel Shield

Stat items:
+4 Belt of Physical Might (Strength and Dex)
+2 Headband of Vast Intelligence (diplomancy)

Misc:
Helm of Comprehend Languages and Read Magic
Dusty Rose Prism Ioun Stone
Clear Spindle Ioun Stone (set in wayfinder for resonance)
Wayfinder
+3 Cloak of Resistance
+2 Ring of Protection
+2 Amulet of Natural Armor
Boots of Striding and Springing
Gloves of Dueling
Golem Bane Scarab
Handy Haversack
Potions of Fly x2

I thought about adding Animated to the shield so I could two hand my axe for a few rounds and up my damage curve or making my axe a +4 (total +5). Or upgrade the cloak, ring of pro., amulet of nat armor. But really these things don't really have any appeal other than the animation property for the shield.

Ideas?

Grand Lodge 4/5

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So, with the 5 new factions out it was said that there would be rules detailing how one could change their faction. We were told that we'd get one free change on a character so long as it was before that character played a Season 3 mod. But there aren't any other rules for changing factions past our one free change. Does anyone know where these rules are going to be? They weren't in the Pathfinder Society Field Guide. Nor were they in the new Organized Play rules. Has anyone seen the rules for this yet?

Grand Lodge

So, I was running a game and one of the players has the Belt of Physical Perfection. The entry on the PFSRD says:

This belt has a large steel buckle, usually depicting the image of a giant. The belt grants the wearer an enhancement bonus to two physical ability scores (strength, Dexterity, or Constitution) of +2, +4, or +6. Treat this as a temporary ability bonus for the first 24 hours the belt is worn. These bonuses are chosen when the belt is created and cannot be changed.

The core book also states that the enhancement bonus becomes permanent after 24 hours. The group had gotten another belt, can't remember what, and the player wanted to use it. He took the belt off and I said he looses the bonus but he countered that since the bonus was permanent after 24 hours he shouldn't loose the enhancement and should be able to use another belt. Who's right?

I know there's rule 0 but I'm trying to get a standard ruling and I can't seem to find anything in the books.

So, I'm a Troll and I've got this unimportant question about a worthless topic that I want to annoy you with. You're not going to be able to resist because it's so asinine you have to correct me. So I'm posing this question with obviously flawed logic and just gonna stick to the point and annoy you. What do you think?

So, I've been having a few characters knocking around in my head for awhile and one of them was a Fighter/Hellknight combo. What I was wondering was if anyone has really played or seen them in society play?

I generally game with a core group of about 20 people and our group is getting bigger but no one is playing one. How are people's feelings/views of the PrC as they've interacted with someone who has played one? I'm just trying to feel the waters out and see what people think.

So, I recently bought the transformative property for my weapon in PFS. I bought it to overcome various weapon type DRs or when having to fight underwater, (which happens far too often, grumble, grumble, grumble). But the problem I'm having is that the description on it is really vague. It seemingly has no limits.

Any ideas on what the limits to it are? Can I turn a longsword into a greatsword or another two handed weapon? I haven't really found any clarifications. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Grand Lodge 4/5

In the Pathfinder Society rules it states that at the end of a module players can make a Craft, Profession, or Perform check to make some extra gold. I was reading through the skills in the Core Book and saw that Slight of Hand may be used in place of Perform check to earn money. You do things such as juggling, legerdemain, and the like. Does this rule apply to players that want to make a few extra coin that have ranks in Slight of Hand but not the other three?
