Hello,
I would like to share what I decided to use in my current Kingmaker campaign.
I hope this will give some people new ideas.
Of course I have read a lot on this forum and you will see that I used a lot of it's content.
I have read that it's better to integrate Nyrissa long before the last chapter to not surprise the players. And I was always asking myself why Nyrissa goes to collaborate with all the NPCs and not the players.
So I decided that Nyrissa objectif is to build the biggest kingdom in the Stolen land to make it it's own, and to do this, she will support anyone capable of doing this.
This is why she asked the Stagged lord, or Hargulka for example.
So when in Chapter 2, she sees that the player are building a kingdom, they may be her best chance to have a big kingdom, and she starts to enlist them for her cause.
She appears to the PC playing a paladin (Great Protector), in dreams, as the Queen of Nymph a lesser deity, that protect the forest and all living creatures (fey and other) that live here.
She ask for his help.
She send dreams to the ruler (a Witch) the kingdom is big and all kinds of creature leave in peace.
Then she ask Hargulka to offer an alliance with the players kingdom to confort the idea of this vision, and then my player think it's possible.
But the alliance with the troll is rejected by the paladin clergy so he decide to renonce his god, putting the kingdom and this vision they have before his duty.
He doesn't want to start a war against troll, scarifying humans, if they can help me protect the kingdom. Then Nyrissa contact him again and offer him to become his first Champion, and charge him to found and build her clergy.
So, my PC are making the kingdom and Nyrissa more powerful.
And at the end when she will reveal her big plan they will have to decide to continue to follow her or to turn against her to save there people.
Currently, we are playing between chapter 3 and chapter 4.
They are in a diplomatic journey visiting neighbours (King Surtova, Mivon, Liberthane, Arthume, & Tymon.) to answer invitations and discuss alliances.
Don't hesitate to ask if you want more informations.
