Killian pats down the mongrelfolk as the others busy themselves discussing the merits of pressing on versus falling back. While looking for anything of use, his main focus is for keys or other items that might help the group navigate the traitors' compound.

Killian shakes his head at the bloodshed as he runs a hand back over his bald pate. "Not the nicest welcoming committee I've seen." He adds with a shrug and a half-grin, "Not the worst either though. Small blessings, right? Everyone alright? Still got all your parts?"

Killian shakes his head as the mongrelmen fall around him. "Perhaps now we see why inviting us in for tea would have been a better course?" He slashes at the remaining foe and grunts in pain as the arrow in his shoulder hampers his strike.

Killian snaps a pair of kukris free from his belt and quips, "Oh look! Do you think they mean to invite us in for tea?" With a merry laugh, he dashes forward and tries to score a quick slash against one of the traitorous mongrelfolk.

Killian runs his hand back across his bald pate in growing discomfort as Horgus and Aravashnial react to Lysbeth's revelation and as Mulluq'Tar then responds in kind to Horgus. "Besides, regardless of who each of our fathers may or may not be, we're all on this road together, like it or not. And honestly, which of us here can truthfully say they didn't inherit some bothersome character trait from their father, hmm?" He grins sheepishly at the group, still rubbing his hand along the top of his head.

Killian's thoughts whirl and spin through his mind as he regards the dhampir and tiefling before him, but he still keeps them to himself. Instead, he leans in toward Isilma and whispers, "Care to place a wager on who'll be the next to reveal a scandalous heritage?" He offers the young elf a wink and grin.

Killian shares a look with Shirraj, the type shared by outsiders accidentally witnessing a private moment. He opens his mouth as if to speak, but then thinks better of it and continues walking quietly along, knowing that whatever comfort the two find in their conversation cannot be revealed by a relative stranger interjecting with a sermon.

Killian shakes the hand of Chief Sull gregariously, "A thousand thanks for your hospitality once more, good Chief. I hope Desna sees fit to cross our paths once more." He offers Opoli similar farewells before smiling to the other surfacers. "Homeward bound, at last!"

Killian looks askance at Isilma and then to Mulluq'Tar. Some history there, perhaps? After hesitating a moment, he interjects, "I've only just met you friend, but I think that's a struggle most mortals have in common. But come, we have just vanquished a terrible predator, helped the kind denizens of Neatholm, and are hardly any the worse for wear for our efforts, this is not the time for such heavy philosophizing, but for cheer!" His broad smile takes in the group as he throws his arm around Shirraj's shoulder. "Back to Neatholm then, oh noble rescuer?"

Killian shakes the ringing from his head at last during the walk back to Neatholm, and for all the effort of the hike, seems to be limping noticeably less as well.

"Was there anything else this blacksmith required, Mulluq'Tar?"

Killian offers Mulluq'Tar a go-ahead-and-try-to-tell-her-'no' look as he limps his way further into the cave to recover his star knife. He returns a few moments later with a bright smile on his face. "Well that was thrilling, wasn't it? Ha ha!"

Unwilling to risk another spoiled throw, Killian focuses on reloading his crossbow rather than sending his last starknife into the fray.

Killian frowns at the howler and Mulluq's looming presence over it. Slipping a starknife free from his belt, Killian tentatively sends his goddess' weapon toward the howler, but his concern for Mulluq and his proximity spoils the throw.

Killian cringes at the sound of the creature's howl. "Nnngh. N-n-none of you said t-to expect that. What a terrible creature!" Despite the pain rattling in his ears and blurring his vision, Killian levels his crossbow and sends a glowing bolt lancing through the air at the howler.

Killian runs his hand back across his bald pate and offers a bright, wide grin. "Well then! Let's hunt the beast, shall we?"

"I'd be happy to lend a hand, Mulluq'Tar. I feel I rather owe these kind folk a notable debt for caring for me as they have. Though I must say, it does my eyes and heart good to see others survived Kenabres' fall." He bows to the tiefling, seemingly unfazed by the man's twisted appearance, and then in turn to the others. "I am Killian Shard, and it seems Desna has seen fit to bring our paths together."

"So who are these friends of yours, Isilma? Have you known them very long?"

"A fine idea, Shirraj." Nodding, he turns to Isilma, "I must confess, I'm rather excited to meet your compatriots, Isilma. There were a few dark moments in those tunnels when I considered the possibility that Shirraj and I might have been the only survivors." With Shirraj holding his one arm, Killian draws a large coin from his pocket with his free hand and flips it into the air. He snatches it out of its downward descent and plops it back into his pocket without looking at it, then pulls away from his feline friend. "Let's see if I might manage this stroll unaided. It wouldn't do to be stuck here in bed when you and these others set out for the surface." He smiles and pats Shirraj's hand appreciatively, then hobbles along after Isilma.

"And I am heartened by your presence, Isilma! What a wonder, to bump into other survivors in such an unexpected place." He turns to Shirraj and offers a grin, "You see? Desna smiles on us." Turning back to the newcomer, he extends a hand in greeting. "I'm Killian, Killian Shard. Opoli has been caring for me," he gestures to his weakened legs, "but has gone off somewhere else for the moment. Let's bring your injured here though. I'm nearly mended myself and might be able to help Opoli tend to them. Did I mention what a delight it is to meet you, Isilma?" He shakes her hand again and beams a bright smile.

"Ah, I think I can manage it, my friend. What tremendous fortune it would be if these newcomers are from Kenabres too." He flashes a broad, bright smile at Shirraj. "I'd be tempted to offer a wager to see which of us could find these new strangers first, but after seeing how good you and Sinjin were on the way here, I'd be at a rather considerable disadvantage." He offers a wink before grunting as he pulls himself to his feet. With a brave but obviously pained smile, he eases forward, gradually increasing the speed of his gait as his legs and muscles loosen up. "Well? Are you coming along or not?" With a bright laugh he then takes off into the streets of Neathholm to search for his fellow survivors.

I had considered going with a Hunter myself, but passed over it because I didn't feel like dealing with the extra bookkeeping a full animal companion requires. Doubly glad I did, because I really like what you've got, Threeshades. Shirraj and Sinjin look sweet!

As for the hitpoints, you can either roll or take the average. If you roll and roll poorly, you're stuck with the roll. You seem to have pleased the dicebot though, unlike me! =P

Too late! I already got out a blanket and some popcorn and I'm curled up in a recliner waiting for the further slaughter to commence!

I'll need to read through the houserules again to familiarize myself with how many Hero Points we come in with, but if my memory serves it's one per hit die, which would leave me with plenty for a raise dead.

I'm also not opposed to whipping up a new character entirely. Killian never spent any PPs, so it's not like it's a loss in that respect. If I did make a new character, I think he or she would be proficient at trapfinding. It feels awfully risky bringing low-level NPCs like Damaia into places that are starting to tout save-or-die traps!

And, fiddling with a new character would occupy me for an afternoon =P

Killian shrugs at Edmond's suggestion, strides forward, and swings his sword in a graceful arc, hoping to lop the skeleton's head free from its shoulders. If nothing happens, he shrugs again and, using his sword, tips the sack away from the skeleton to spill out upon the floor.

Killian flips a coin then deposits it back into his money pouch. "It seems Fate would lead us up the northern hall, good Damaia."

"I've some spark left in me too, yet. Let's forge on toward the basement and see what lurking shadows we might vanquish." Killian seems positively enthused, a bright sparkle dances in his eyes.

"This lodge is much larger than I initially expected. There are quite a number of bed rooms here. The Pathfinders must have enjoyed no small amount of influence in Westcrown in years past if they were able to sleep this many heads at a time. It casts a rather tragic light on the city's current state, in comparison." Killian frowns as he regards the long hallway and all the empty rooms.
