About Killian Shaburn

Backstory:

Spoiler:

What is your character's short-term goal?
Currently he wants to figure out what happened to his closest friend, as well as his idol, the last Lord-Mayor.

What is your character's long-term goal?
Killian wants to end the oppressive regime that has taken hold in his city. He's had a decent education, and knows that there are better forms of government.

How would you describe your character in a nutshell?
A native of Kintargo, Killian is a team player, and is constantly working to help his team achieve their goals. In many ways he shares personality traits with a football quarterback. He's a leader, though not necessarily the coach. In groups, he tends to gravitate to a second-in-command position, and will always support his commander. He may privately speak with the leader after the fact, but in the heat of the moment he will always trust his battlefield commander's judgment.
He is a nimble character, and focuses on his speed and dexterity in combat. He's something of a worshiper of Cayden Cailean and Kurgess, but I like the idea of him converting to Milani as the game progresses. Lastly, I plan to develop a second persona for him, based around the Long-Nose Form feat. A human form that he uses in combat and on missions so that no one sees a Tengu committing these acts of rebellion. I think that could be a lot of fun! It's a shame the Vigilante isn't out yet; that would be perfect for this character.

How would your character describe themselves (in their own words)?
"Well, if'n I had to speak to myself, I'd talk about my adept skills at falconry. It's one of my favorite pastimes, and no, I'm not setting you up for a joke about a bird in the hand. If you asked me to speak about the current political climate, I'd digress into a rant about the abuse of power, and frankly, the tyrannical Thrune needs a good slapping. I would be first in line for that."

Longer Backstory
Spoiler:
Killian was brought up in a tengu family in Kintargo, and was taught in fairness and equality from a young age. They had a simple life, and never wanted for anything. Until Killian's 14th year, when Killian's family was arrested for espionage and treason. Killian and his younger sister, Mikaba were left to fend for themselves. She went to Humblebright House, and he stayed with a family friend, Assam Rotoma and his family. Assam was a young human, 16 years of age, and a fervent supporter of the idea of succession from Cheliax. He eventually went on to join the Rose of Kintargo cult of Milani, and stayed active up until they went dark. He disappeared when they did. Killian's closest friend, a member of the Silver Ravens, also disappeared around this time. He hasn't been seen since. Killian has been looking for him for days, and recently got a tip that one of the Silver Ravens, or someone with information about them, would meet him at the peaceful protest scheduled just south of the Opera House. Killian is attending the protest to find out the whereabouts of his friend, so that hopefully he can start to figure out what is actually happening in Kintargo. He has no illusions that it isn't the Church of Asmodeous or perhaps House Thrune, he just doesn't know who he needs to target to rescue his friends. They're all he has left of family in this world, especially since Mikaba ran away from the Humblebright House two days ago...or so he was told.

Notes for the GM:
Spoiler:

I took two archetypes to avoid potential shenanigans; Skirmisher and Falconer. Skirmisher gives up spells. Falconer is the only one that changes more than one class feature, and it just lets you start with a falcon companion at level one. I like that, since it allows me to write the companion into his backstory. I'm also not planning on taking Chelaxians as Favored Enemies. That seems like cheating, you know? Additionally, I know Charisma is important, and I would gladly change my stats around if you feel it's important. I went with a lower Charisma due to the LARGE number of high Charisma characters there are in the recruitment. If I do switch it around, I may take the Natural Born Leader trait instead of Star-Struck, depending on the party make-up.

His Reason for Protest is Meeting a Contact. He has a close friend in the Silver Ravens, and he's investigating what has happened to his friend. I can flesh the NPC out, or leave it for you, if that helps.

Advancement:
He'll be taking the Tengu Racial Feats Long-Nose Form, Tengu Wings, and Tengu Raven Form at 3rd, 5th, and 7th levels. His ranger combat style is two-weapon fighting, and though his archetype gave up the 6th level combat style feat, he won't be taking terribly many combat feats. He is a super team player, and will be taking feats for versatility and party assistance.
