...and here.

I'll miss you all :(

Hey.

Due to real life issues, it has become hard for me to post here consistently and it is not really fun anymore. For that reason, I'm going to stop GMing.

Sorry for making you lose your time, and thank you a lot for playing and helping me in this first time GMing. If you have any questions, please ask.

Hey, guys.

Due to real life issues, it has become hard for me to post here consistently and it is not fun anymore. For that reason, I'm going to stop GMing.

Sorry for making you lose your time, and thank you for playing. If you have any questions, please ask.

Virgil:
You run as fast as you can, with Lucius at your side, and you see the monster is not following you. Instead, he just looks at you and suddenly appears ahead, between you and the church!

He walks slowly towards you, grinning with his horrible fangs.

"He's looking for me, Virgil." says the priest calmly while giving you a backpack. "There's a letter inside. You must give it to Brother Michel, in the church. It is necessary to defend the Faith!" He then runs away from the road. The creature once again dissapears and appear close to Lucius, and you see him trying to run in different directions. "Thank you!" you believe he says before dissapearing into the tall grass.

The path to the church is now clear.

Sorry, I was sure I had answered, but I think I closed the window to fast. (This case doesn't count for the drawback)

You ask a few people and it doesn't take long before you are given directions to the Qalli Spice Market.

You arrive there when it's getting dark, but it is still very noisy and full of people. There are shops, big and small, selling mostly spices: oregano, pepper, sesame and more. Sometimes, you believe you have wandered away from the market, only to find you are only getting to another zone, even bigger and more crowded.

There are some buildings placed seemingly randomly across the market, but most of the trade comes from stations. Sellers of many races and places try to sell their goods in this place, but, for now, you haven't seen the thief.

Virgil:
"The Ottomans and the Aq Qoyunlu, fighting for this land. What else there is to know?" explains Father Lucius briefly, while beckoning you to follow. The priest hobbles for a while, but moves at a fast pace. When he turns his back to you, you can see a huge bite on it, going deep into his flesh, having teared great part of his clothes. It is clear to you that no regular animal or human could have caused it.

You run through many streets and the battle is always near you, but Lucius seems to be capable to avoid the worst places and you get out to the field without problems, reaching a gravel road. Far ahead, there is a building.

"There!" says Lucius. "That is the..." Suddenly, your companion stops moving. "He is here, Virgil. Run!" he shouts as he points back, and you turn only to see a horrific monster, that seems to have appeared out of nowhere. It is a six-armed humanoid horror, garbed in golden armor and surrounded by a nimbus of floating, glowing weaponry, from a club to a scimitar. The creatures's skin is completely black, and, instead of eyes and a mouth, its face has six lines that glow red and six immense grey fangs that resemble a grimace.

You are hearing a whistle inside your head, and an infernal voice resonates in your skull. "Yes." says the voice. "You should run."

Kusanorr can warp three of you to the other side before resting and we would still have to figure a way to bring the last one.

Also one nonlethal damage healed during the walk to the door the party is currently facing.

The boy takes the money eagerly, with a huge grin. "Ohhhh, yes." His sight is lost in the gold and the platinum for a moment, and then seems to remember your question and starts talking.

"There was this man... He came a little over a week ago and he's spending lots of money on the casinos and things like that. All around the Spice Market. Not too tall, not too short, not too fat, not too thin. They always see 'im with a cloak." He then says no more and runs away, pocketing the gold he has earned.

Virgil:
With tremendous effort you manage to move the horse enough for the man to free himself.

"Thank you, stranger. Father Lucius of the Holy Chatolic Church, at your service. We should go now." He then grabs a backpack that lies at his side and tries to stand up, but legs fail him and he falls again to the ground. "Wait." The priest rises again and stumbles a bit, but finally manages to stabilize. Then he digs in his pocket, takes out a bag, and tosses it to you. It's full of gold.

"Can you escort me to the church in the outskirts?"

Virgil:
You can see soldiers running around at the streets at both ends of the alley, but none of them seem to be paying any attention to you. When you approach the fallen man, he twists and seems to stare at one of your tattoos. Suddenly, he mutters another name.

"Ognos? Where?" the man blinks several times and seems to snap back to reality. "You are not... Please, you must help me. I can't move. The horse..."

It was my mistake, I should have made myself clearer.

I'll continue posting now.

Virgil:
You are coming closer to the rubbage when you hear a loud noise and the trash flies in all directions, pushing you back a little. When you look again, a brown horse lies unconscious or dead in the floor, having crashed against the barrier and tripped. The animal has been shot in the side of the head and, underneath it, lies its
rider, young man with olive skin and black hair.

"Matteo." he mutters. He is trapped under his steed and possibly hurt.

Virgil Geryon wrote:
Virgil is making his way down the alley away from the noise...

You're right. I was waiting for others' responses because I didn't wanted to mess with the synchronization in time between Virgil and the guys at the church but I guess I'll post anyways and hopefully the others will appear soon.

"He came into town?" says the kid. "Well... seventy-five. And I'll tell you everything I know and then I'll have a good meal. I know you can give me that little, and I can give you a lot." He nods, like reasserting what he has said.

The boy can obviously get much more than a "good meal" with seventy-five gold pieces, but he seems to ignore that.

The kid smiles greedily and moves forward, his hand extended, but then, seeing the three coins, raises an eyebrow and asks: "What do you want me to do for that? Spitting? 'Cause I ain't doin' much more for three coins. Tell me what you're looking for and we'll agree a price, man."

He doesn't seem intimidated by your weapons and Khint, and he speaks boldly now that he knows you can make a deal.

Sorry for not clarifying that earlier, I thought it was cleared by RePete's comment. Spine sword has a normal 20 threat range, it just rolls 3 dice for damage on a crit.

Fair enough, thanks for clearing that up.

You don't wander for long before stumbling with a tanned kid with tangled black hair that is trying to approach you from behind. When he realizes you see him he takes a few steps back and stutters something. His voice tells you he is not over twelve years, and he is very dirty and thin.

Kayla stops to think for a second and then starts walking. "Alright, follow me."

With Khint at your side, you quickly arrive to a very wide street. In the sidewalk, peddlers announce their goods (from healing herbs to bottled djinn) and carriages, drawn by camels, move in both directions. There are halflings on its backs and occasionaly ifrits and janni. You can count about fifteen in each coach, standing tight and chained with each other. At your sides houses seem prosperous, with lush gardens and stone fountains. "What do you think? Isn't it hard to think this place is so close to the slums?" asks Kayla, and she is right. In about five minutes you take a side street that goes up a hill into a completely different place. All homes seem abandoned and you can only see beggars and, sometimes, a curious eye trying to peek behind a wall. "This district belongs to the Guild." whispers your companion, looking a bit nervous. "It fell into poverty when the Aspis Consortium placed their regional headquarters in the city. I'm just... leaving you here. It shouldn't be hard to find the information you need. If you ever need me again, search for Kayla Keen in the Mermaid. I'll be eager to see you."

With that, she smiles flirtatiously one last time and runs down to where you came from.

The look in Kayla's eyes is clearly greedy, but seems innocent to you. She smiles when she finally sees you smiling.

"I'm... not sure. Many people come into Sedeq. How is he? What do you know of him?" The woman lowers her voice. "I have friends in the Thief Guild. I guess they could tell you something... for a price, of course."

"I am sure the Lord will protect me. Abel, do you want to go with me?" The priest puts the bottle back in the table and looks at the man, but he just lies in the floor, saying nothing and staring at nothing.

"I will pray for your wife and kid. Goodbye." he says kindly before leaving through one of the side doors.

Virgil:
The battle comes to you suddenly. One moment you are just walking in the town and at the next you are dodging the gunshots and the charging horses. In some moment you were hit by something and made your way, stunned and stumbling, to a dark alley where you took a few seconds to recover. Looking around, you can see a pile of rubble that partially covers one exit of the passage. There are small houses at your sides and the big street from which you came is behind you. A lot of noise comes from there. Shouts and shots and neighing.

I believe that Virgil is ready.

Some of the spoilers have future wish list stuff...

That's great. You can take average so you still have 32 gp left. You're also under the effects of medium encumbrance.

Now that Virgil is done I'll post for him in spoilers in the gameplay thread once it's time to bring him together with the others (very soon).

Kayla's eyes seem to glitter when she hears about the Eyes of the Dragon. "Well, good luck with that, darling. I'm sure you'll find plenty of thieves and assassins here. Just let me know if there is any way I can make up for your help... And wash your dog." She takes a look at the bloodied Khint and raises her eyebrows. "Seriously."

"Wait." intervenes Lucius. "Maybe we could send one of us to take our things here. My donkey, Alfonso, is in the town and I can not leave him there for long. If all of your things are in the Genie, I can go myself and Alfonso will help me carrying them. What do you think?" The priest stands up, ready to leave if you agree.

I'm going out until tomorrow or probably friday, so my posting might slow down. Please bot me if necessary.

I'm not sure if my roll was a critical threat because the spinal sword is said to have a x3 threat range, so I'm not sure if that means it has an 18/20 range or if it deals x3 damage. Shouldn't matter in this case because I don't think I confirmed, but I'd like to be sure.

Sounds fine if you weigh them equally. I'm still around, just checking your posts and I will give a response when something happens.

Oh, man, this seems very interesting!

I'm thinking about making an Ulfen psychic duelist if that's okay. I'll be writing his backstory and crunch soon.

Can we use a trait from "Shadows under Sandpoint" as our campaign trait?

Kayla leans against a wall and sheathes his sword. The dog approaches her and smells her leg.

"So, Vincent... you didn't answer my question. Why are you here? Of all the towns in Qadira, this is probably the worst." She laughs carelessly. "But I still like it."

Virgil is okay. Remember the Sleight of Hand and Disable Device bonuses are 2 points lower because of your armor. Now please roll for wealth and we're done!

Khint licks the body one last time and follows you, skillfully jumping to the other side of the bar.

Kayla then leads you out a back way and through a series of winding back alleys. After running for a few seconds, she stops and breathes. "Well. I don't think they'll follow us. Thanks for helping me with those jerks... How'd you say you were called?"

Michel:
You do not feel anything odd.

"We'll have to see." says Lucius. "Please hold her head." Then he opens the bottle and pours a brown liquid down Gül's throat. A couple of seconds pass, and the woman wakes up coughing.

You're awake and back to 7 HP!

"A miracle." The priest smiles. "How are you feeling?"

You attack again, and the scimitar cuts through leather, flesh and bone, right in his chest. That was the last sailor. An abysmal silence spread through the tavern, until Kayla breaks it. "We’ve got get out of here. You don’t want to be around when the guards see this mess. Trust me, it won’t be pretty. Come on, I know a place where we can go. Follow me!" Then she hops to the other side of the bar and through a door.

Sense Motive DC 10:
The woman seems trustworthy, it seems like she is really trying to help.

Great. I'll check the crunch and tell you if I notice something. After that, we can start.

"No. Not really." says the priest. "But I have a brewing there that will help... her."

You quickly get to the gates you could see before. There are three, separated by walls with icons: Mary, holding the child; Christ himself; and two saints you don't recognize.

Knowledge (Religion) DC 15:
One of the saints is John the Baptist, who was a friend of Jesuschrist and baptized him. The other one must be the patron of the church.

Knowledge (Religion) DC 20:
The other image represents Saint Nonnus, an Egiptian monk who became a bishop in Syria.

You enter the sanctuary through the middle gate. The place has a square altar, a chair, and a small table with a chalice on it. A cross hangs of the back wall, with another icon of Christ. The dwarf helps putting Gül on the ground, opens a drawer of the table and takes a bottle. "Here." He gives it to Lucius. "Sleep here as long as you want, the battle hasn't ended so there won't be much to do tomorrow. I'll be outside." He says all of this quickly, almost incomprehesibly, and then sprints out of the door.

Knowledge (Religion) DC 15:
In his hurry to help Gül, the priest seems to have ignored some common traditions. The middle door, called the Beautiful Gate, is supposed to be used only by the clergy, and animal products, except wool, are not allowed in the sanctuary, yet he did not bother to remind you.

"I'm just doing my duty." says Cenk smiling. "Right now I'm going to tell the Sultan about those 'dark elves'. And hopefully... I'll see you again."

"Thank you, good dwarf." answers Lucius. "I believe you will. Goodbye!" The soldier bids farewell to all of you and leaves. Lucius then opens the door in front and you go inside.

You are in a larger place now. There are high-armed chairs at both sides, along the icon-covered walls. You can also see a couple of stands, holding books, in front of the chairs. The dome ceiling is painted with an image of Christ, and a circular chandelier hangs from it. The red carpet continues to another set of doors about thirty feet ahead of you. A dwarf dressed in a black habit runs to you, and gasps when he sees Gül, oddly surprised.

"Quick!" he says, pointing to the doors from which he came from. "We must take her to the sactuary now!" He helps you held her and starts taking you to the back of the church.

Stopping here just in case you want to interact in any way.

Not really. This guy has responded my PM and seems interested. I think it's likely that he will join us after I revise the character and he changes a bit of the backstory.

Mechanics:
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

You gave them enough chances IMO, not your fault if they end up hurt (or infertile in Kobad's case)

Your scimitar again moves with swift brutality, slashing open the neck of the drunkard standing on the downed leader.
allen
"Aaaa..." he takes his hands to his troath and falls above his partner.

Not sure if you still want to use your second attack on him or what.

"Ooo-www-www-www" complains the other man as he shakes after you have sent an electric shock through his body. In a second, you have defeated another two sailors, but the last one has moved away from Kayla and is now standing near the pile of unconscious sailors. He punches you, just like his partners did many times, in the chest. And then looks around, like just realizing he is clearly losing the fight.

"Um..." he starts saying before gasping and avoiding another thrust from Kayla's sword. He stumbles, almost falling, but his fists are still closed and he seems ready to keep fighting alone.

You can see Khint now. He has ignored your call, and is wildly taking bites of the sailor he defeated, smearing himself with blood and guts.

Both sailors you attacked are unconscious.

You hear steps at the other side of the door, and then a hoarse voice. "Hello? Do you need anything?"

"Good evening." says Lucius. "A friend of us is hurt and we need a place to stay before the battle ends. We thought a house of the Lord would give us hospitality."

"Then I'm glad to help. Just a second." There are footsteps again, and a few seconds pass. Then the voice speaks again, sounding more distant. "Come inside, it's not locked."

Hey guys.

Unfortunately, Lucius left the game. I'll bot him for a while until I find a nice way to make the character leave.

Since you're only three now, I am looking for another party member. I sent PMs to the other people that applied and someone will hopefully answer soon. If there is anyone in particular you'd like to see, please let me know.

Mechanics:
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Your first attack comes naturally, ripping a strip of skin off your opponent's arm. The next swing cuts across his armor, your arm powered by your magical belt, and a burst of blood goes out of his chest, splashing a nearby table. The sailor collapses immediately, a tiny stream of blood forming from his upper body.

"Argh! Yar nat takan' ma dan sa asely!" shouts the "flying carpet" drunkard before kicking you in the belly, pushing you against the bar but otherwise not affecting you.

"Wow." Kayla says as she swings against the man at her side, but is easily dodged. "Can you handle those two while I deal with this one? I don't think you need much help."

The sailor you attacked is now unconscious. Well done!

Great, just in time for Gül's awakening, I believe.

"Alright." Cenk starts walking without saying anything else. He does not take the same route you used to reach the cave, but seems to know where he is going. Apart from the occasional gunshots, nothing special happens during your walk.

When about half an hour has passed, the trees abruptly end. A hundred or so feet ahead, a church stands, tall like a giant compared to the two small shacks at its side. The stone building is cross-shaped, with a red dome and a bell tower in the left side. While not too big, it still looks majestic. When you get in front of the gates, the holy place is between you and the sun, already rising in the horizon.

"Halt!" Two dwarfs, with gun's like Cenk's, stand guard at both sides of the entrance. They look exactly the same, tall (for their race), and with black hair and eyes. Looking closer reveals they are twins. "Who are those?" One of them points to you. Cenk looks at the two guards for a second or two, as if he had not understood what they asked, but then answers.

"Um...Don't worry. They are not against us... The woman needs to rest." The dwarves nod and open the doors immediately, one looking like a reflection of the other, and letting you pass.

You find yourself in a small room, poorly lit by two candlestands at both sides. There is a carpet in the middle, originally red but now almost brown by the dirt, that leads to another couplle of doors, painted with images of different saints. There is a space between the top of the doors and the wall, but you can not see clearly whatever is beyond.

Mechanics:
Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Vincent's Overrun Maneuver: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

You take a step to a side, trying to get away, but the silent sailor punchs you back. Most of the times you are hit in the chest and you don't get hurt, but it is still confusing, almost like an avalanche. You also feel a fist in your head once, but it is like you had a helmet, thanks to your amulet.

"Owww!"

"Agh! His skan as thag!"

You stumble, stunned by the four men that surround you like if they were four-hundred, and you lose sight of Khint, that is probably still feeding of the sailor he catched. Your hands meet with Kayla's leg and you snap back, again conscious of your foes and yourself.

"C'mon!" says the woman. "I'll have to teach you how to slip away from a brawl!" She smiles and makes a lunge towards another man, nearly stabbing him.

"That sounds... good." Cenk's voice sounds high pitched. "If only..." He looks at Abel.

"Alright." The man goes back to you and sits on the floor, while the Ottoman soldier smiles shyly and moves his turban, that has almost fallen of his head, back in place.

"There are some places in Otlukbeli that are not too close to the battle. A christian church, I think. Do you... um... want to go there?"

Also, sorry for taking so long to answer. There have been storms where I am and I tried to avoid using electrical devices just in case. It's over now, though, so I'm back to a normal posting rate.

Mine too, RePete, I hope things get better.

Sorry for not posting in a while. There have been big storms where I live in and I kept most devices unplugged. It's all fine now, so I'm back.

Hey, there, sorry for not being posting. There have been storms where I am and I tried to keep things unplugged. I do not have access to the material I'm using right now, so I'll post in the gameplay thread tomorrow, if that's okay.

Thanks!

Alright, have fun!
