Hey all, hope you're getting ready for a great Christmas with your family and friends. I wanted to give y'all a heads up that I won't be able to post for a couple of weeks due to work and Holiday stuff going on. Bot me if needed.

Kiley follows Shaggar out of the smoke and rushes up to one of the trogs to put her blade through it's chest.

Hearing the fighting, Kiley rushes in to help her tall, furry friend.

Greatsword vs. Northern Trog: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 6) + 4 = 11
Miss (<=20): 1d100 ⇒ 30

Kiley doesn't waste time even nodding. She rushes to the door and slams it open while holding her sword in one hand.

Kiley silently sighs as the ambush is at least partially blown. She looks to Shaggar to see what he has planned.

Kiley's following Shaggar's lead.

"That probably would be a good idea," Kiley says, feeling a bit embarrassed she had forgotten about the ointment.

Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

"What if we catch them asleep," Kiley asks in a soft voice.

Kiley, already spooked by the Archivist, can't suppress the shudder that runs through her at Shaggar's choice of idiom.

"Sometimes I forget how brutal gnolls can be," she mutters under her breath.

Kiley shivers as she hears the Archivist's explanation of what happened. The plague he spoke of sounds like a horrible way to die, and her thoughts inevitably drift back to her parents last moments and the ghost of the priestess that had been brutally murdered. If it wasn't for Sasha's show of support, Kiley would have slipped away to find a place to hide.

"Was there a dragon here," she asks quietly, remembering the serpentine skeleton by the main gate.

Kiley steps up next to Sasha after her ordeal and takes the priestess' hand. Sasha can feel Kiley trembling with the effort it takes not to give into the fear she feels and stay close to the undead archivist.

Will DC15 + 1/2 CR of the creature: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Kiley manages to keep her wits, at least for now, and follows Shaggar into the chamber. Still, she can't keep her hands from shaking as she waits to see what answer this undead will give her friend.

I'm assuming that Kiley can see in there, too.

Kiley swallows as she looks around and spots the lone occupant of the room. Ari can hear her breathing catch as panic sets in for a moment before she realizes it isn't moving.

"It's okay. It's okay. It's not moving. It's not undead," she whispers to herself in a voice that is meant to be soothing, but is belied by the way it quivers.

Realizing that she's in a library, Kiley has to sit on her sense of curiosity rather firmly, at least until Shaggar mentions necromantic goods were being purchased rather frequently.

"L-Like the kind that make undead," she squeaks, not able to hide the note of fear in her voice thanks to the surprise revelation.

Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Kiley hurries to catch up to Shaggar and Ari.

"Honestly, I would rather catch them asleep if we can. We could probably beat them in small groups, but I don't think we can do that before they get off an alarm."

Noticing Sasha's downcast look, Kiley nudges her with an elbow.

"We just don't want to waste it," she whispers as softly as she can manage before following Shaggar, Sahalya, and Ari.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Not sure what the best move is for Kiley at the moment. Hopefully this won't bite us in the butt.

Kiley follows Shagger with her bow out and an arrow nocked.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Kiley quietly moves up, keeping an ear and an eye out for danger.

Hey all, sorry for not posting today. Busy day at work and I just clocked out. Not sure I'll get one up tomorrow, either.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Kiley silently move along beside Shaggar, her eyes and ears straining to pick up anything that may provide a clue as to what is going on here. The fur on her tail stands on end and the tip twitches in small, nervous arcs.

Kiley nods, replacing her sword with her bow and follows along behind Shaggar and Sahalya.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Reflex DC15: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Kiley nimbly dodges the worst of the blast, though she hisses in pain as some still manages to burn her skin. Figuring the best way to take it down quickly is to surround it, Kiley tries to get past it to get at it from another angle.

Acrobatics to avoid the AoO's and move through its space: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 Maaaaybe? In either case...

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Confirm?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Damage: 4d6 + 8 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 5) + 8 = 22

Kiley rushes up and slips between Pheliks and Shaggar to get at the lizard.

Attack (Greatsword) vs. Lizard: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10

Welp, so much for being sneaky.

Kiley sees the lizard wake and lock eyes with her.

Oh no. Shaggar and Ari are going to be so cross with me.

Kiley points to her sword again at Ari's mimed question. She waits a moment to see if anyone has anything else to say then starts trying to sneak up on the lizard to slit its throat.

Want to give the others a chance to chime in, but I also don't want to hold up the game too long.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Kiley looks at the lizard then at the others before pointing at her sword and making a slashing motion across her throat and pointing at the lizard.

Kiley quickly, but carefully, applies the ointment as they'd been instructed and heads out after Shaggar.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Kiley decides to wait until they leave to apply the ointment, and not solely because of the smell. Given it's limited nature and the relatively short time they'd have before another application is needed, it doesn't make since to apply it until they were heading back out into danger again.

Sasha's question and Gurnik's response has her curious, though not quite suspicious.

I wonder if he just accepted that he'll never see them again. I guess that makes sense. The Underdark isn't a kind place from every tale and book I've read.

Kiley brings up the rear, keeping an eye out for anything sneaking up behind them. When the acrid stench hits her nose, however, she quickly covers it and hopes that the smell won't be so bad once it's applied.

Got nothing to add, so ready to move on.

Seeing that Ari is right, Kiley pulls out her bow and looks about for any potential threaats.

"We should probably move quietly until we're somewhere safer," she says.

He's started up the other game that he runs and I'm in, but not sure why he's not started this one back up.

"Regret assumes that I'm not looking forward to teasing you about it." Kiley grins, looking a lot like a cat for a moment.

"Same here, and don't worry Ruti. We'll let you sing first next time," Kiley says with a grin.

While she seems a little better, it's still clear that all is not well with Kiley. While the Underdark's oppressive atmosphere has something to do with it, mostly it is remembering the horrible night her parents and everyone else in their manor were murdered by the Zhentarim and imagining all of them turning into undead. The necromancer wouldn't even have to do it based on Lucina's fate, and her parents had died just as horribly as the priestess had.

I pray their souls are at peace and with Selune. I--I don't know what would happen if I learned they were suffering like Lucina had been.

Kiley shakes as she tries to suppress a fit of laughter. Shaggar she half-expected to be a horrid singer, but Ari was nearly as bad. If nothing else, the impromptu concerto was enough to lift her spirits a bit.

Perform(Sing): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

"I'm not sure if I can match yours and Shaggar's magnificent performances, but I suppose fair's fair and I owe you two a song," she manages to get out between giggles. Once she's managed to calm a bit, she starts to sing.

"My lad," said Troll, "this bone I stole.
But what be bones that lie in a hole?
Thy nunclе was dead as a lump o' lead,
Afore I found his shinbonе.
Tinbone! Thinbone!
He can spare a share for a poor old troll,
For he don't need his shinbone."

Said Tom: "I don't see why the likes o' thee
Without axin' leave should go makin' free
With the shank or the shin o' my father's kin;
So hand the old bone over!
Rover! Trover!
Though dead he be, it belongs to he;
So hand the old bone over!"

"For a couple o' pins," says Troll, and grins,
"I'll eat thee too, and gnaw thy shins.
A bit o' fresh meat will go down sweet!
I'll try my teeth on thee now.
Hee now! See now!
I'm tired o' gnawing old bones and skins;
I've a mind to dine on thee now."

But just as he thought his dinner was caught,
He found his hands had hold of naught.
Before he could mind, Tom slipped behind
And gave him the boot to larn him.
Warn him! Darn him!
A bump o' the boot on the seat, Tom thought,
Would be the way to larn him.

But harder than stone is the flesh and bone
Of a troll that sits in the hills alone.
As well set your boot to the mountain's root,
For the seat of a troll don't feel it.
Peel it! Heal it!
Old Troll laughed, when he heard Tom groan,
And he knew his toes could feel it.

Tom's leg is game, since home he came,
And his bootless foot is lasting lame;
But Troll don't care, and he's still there
With the bone he boned from its owner.
Doner! Boner!
Troll's old seat is still the same,
And the bone he boned from its owner!

Kiley winces as her bluff is called. Still, a part of her wonders what Ari means by second best way to start the morning before deciding that she doesn't need to pile embarrassment on top of her fears and grief. The nightmare had reopened wounds that still feel raw and ragged even after two years and more. She gratefully takes the cup and the plate and puts something in her belly to help cheer her up. She feels a little better after the meal, though she finds Ari's softer side a little strange after getting to know her.

"A lot a bit lacking, actually," Kiley says softly in regards to her knowledge of bawdy tunes of any sort really. "I'm not sure if I could lift anyone's spirits right now. What--what happened to Lucina brought back some bad memories, the kind that give you nightmares for life."

Kiley jumps at Ari's voice and relaxes when she sees it's the other teifling.

"Neither," she says. Not wanting to burden the others with her own fears and insecurities, she hesitates as she tries to think of something more to say than the terse one-word response. "I-I'll be alright," she adds with a pathetic attempt at a smile.

Kiley does not sleep easily. She tosses and turns through most of the night, only calming shortly before the other wake. As she gets ready to face another day down here in the Underdark she tries her best to act normally, but the others can see how tense she's become in her movements an the way her attention focuses on unexpected sounds and movements. What they do not see is the nightmare replaying over and over in her mind, one brought about by Lucina's ill-fortuned fate.

"It seems that the troglodytes are in the way. If we have to fight them anyway, we might as well do as much good as we can in the process."

Seeing the sverfneblins' discomfort with Shagger, Kiley shakes herself and gives them a smile.

"And don't worry about Shaggar. He's saved my life, all of our lives, many times. I've not known him to harm anyone that wasn't wicked at heart or hadn't attacked him first."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

"It's as they say," Kiley says quietly. The fire helps chase away her chill, but the fatigue she feels holds strong.

"If you know anyone that could help us track them down, we'd be most grateful. Those people are dangerous, and none-too-picky when it comes to how they deal with others they see as threats."

I've got Kiley updated. I did move a couple of points around from Acrobatics since I got Versatile Performance and picked Dance.

"If they know the way, we should probably let them guide us there sooner rather than later," Kiley says, feeling drained by the events of recent days.

Kiley lets the others do the talking while she wishes she'd taken her parents up on their offer to teach her some of the more obscure languages when she was younger. She knows the common tongue of the land, of course, and elven, thanks to Aunt Dora. The third language she knows, the tongue of the demons of the Abyss, is the one that she did not learn. It is the one she knew after the night she transformed from a human-seeming girl into one whose heritage wasn't in doubt, unless she hid her ears and tail and took care to keep her fangs from showing too prominently. It is also one that she prefers no one find out about, lest it lead to more questions and hints about where the servants of her demonic progenitor could find her.

Kiley climbs down the ramp and joins the others. She stands by Shaggar's side as he and Rutilux handle the introductions.

Kiley takes a moment to breath and focus. Even from her vantage point, she can still smell the stench of the troglodytes, and only the gods alone know how someone with as keen of a sense of smell as Shaggar was holding up under that pungent assault against his sense of smell. She focuses on the next troglodyte up the line, studying it before drawing her bow and letting fly.

Longbow (PBS, Deadly Aim, Studied Target) vs. Orange Troglodyte: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 1 - 1 = 21
Damge: 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7

We did. Now it's just getting used to the new normal.

Kiley pulls out her bow as she runs up the moonlight ramp and takes aim at the troglodyte just off the end.

Longbow (Deadly Aim, PBS) vs. Pink Troglodyte: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 - 1 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

"Just a hunch, but it looks to me the troglodytes are attacking and are much more interested in the svirfneblin than the lizardfolk are. I think if we help them they wouldn't mind us freeing the gnomes," she tells the others as she nocks an arrow. "If we attack the troglodytes, I think we could make two sets of allies here."

Sense Motive (What's going on?): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
