The swordsman clearly has no intention of answering the question. In fact, he hasn't paid attention to any of what the teacher has been saying, opting instead to clear his head and wait for the group to start moving again.

Kijani shuts his eyes tight and takes a deep breath, trying to tune it all out. If he can have the patience to endure this, he hopes, he will be able to endure anything. I'm sorry, but I am honestly a little flabbergasted from seeing that last post. Please, in the future, do not attempt to roll diplomacy against fellow PCs. It is generally seen as inconsiderate.

The warrior glances down at the top of the tiny man's head, which is just about all he can see when he stands so close. "Many people have been speaking today, little fey-thing, and I've listened to none of them. Were I a smart man, I'd have fled west some time ago." This may be a bit of a shocking statement, considering west of here is just empty scrubland until you hit the Shackles.

Kijani's snake slithers up to his shoulder again, but he grabs it and shoves it into his pocket. He doesn't even deign to look at the meaningless symbols, let alone choose one. Kijani chooses none of the above! As expected, I'm sure.

The snake coiled around the warrior's leg slithers up along his body and up to his shoulders. "Go on," it whispers. "You know well the secrets of fire." The warrior tears the snake away from his shoulder and holds it helpless in his grasp. He glares daggers at the beast, and responds in a harsh whisper. "I would sooner burn you alive, would you not think it proved you right." Almost unconsciously, he wreathes his other hand in magical flame, only noticing that he'd done so after the fact. He shakes his wrist and lets the flames harmlessly dissipate, but by then it's too late. Everyone has seen him create fire, and the expectations will be raised. Satisfied, the snake slips out from the warrior's grasp and slithers back down the length of his arm to find some other perch.

It also looks like Chomski doesn't have Taldane as a language even though he's supposed to be from Lastwall. It's an easy mistake to make, but "Common" is a totally different language here than it is in Avistan. Sorry if I seem nitpicky!

To my knowledge, you can only get an 18 in your key ability score. You start at 10, add one boost for ancestry, one for background, one for it being your key ability score, and one of your free boosts. That adds up to 4 boosts, which gets you to 18.

Standing a head and shoulders above most of the crowd, but still humbled by the gigantic construct nearby, a powerfully built young man stares off into the distance. He pays no heed at all to the warm welcome being offered. He's armed and armored, with a solid piece of plate adorning his chest, and a well-used sword strapped to his back that looks big enough to cleave through two men in one swing. At first glance, and likely every glance after that, he would seem wildly out of place here... save, that is, for the fact that much of the rest of the crowd seem even stranger for their own reasons. Finally, around his right shin, a tiny green viper clings on for dear life. Every few steps, the warrior stops and shakes his leg to try and dislodge it, to no avail.
I've had this guy ready for a while now, so it shouldn't be too hard to turn his backstory into this ten minute thing. 10-Minute Backstory:
Step 1: Five Facts * Kijani is a hunter from a village called the Twice-Carved Bough, who has no interest in the arcane. * He is pestered regularly by a spirit in the form of a talking snake that tells him magical secrets. He considers it a nuisance, not a familiar. * The elders of his village see this as a sign that he is destined to be a great wizard, and his swift (if reluctant) mastery of basic spells makes that look plausible. * Between the revered elders, his parents, and his fellow hunters all pressuring him to accept the sponsorship to the Magaambya, he couldn't possibly refuse. * Still, that doesn't mean he intends to actually study... Step 2: Two Goals
Step 3: Two Secrets * Despite being a very good hunter, and potentially a prodigy in magic, Kijani hates to be praised. He won't let it show, and will reluctantly accept compliments, but he loses respect for people who give them.
Step 4: Three People * Elder Kiango, leader of the village of the Twice-Carved Bough. An old druid who once graduated from the Magaambya himself, and saw potential in Kijani that he'd have squandered if left to his own devices.
Step 5: Three Memories
One Flaw Kijani doesn't believe in himself, and he just plain isn't motivated to succeed. Any potential he has is completely wasted. One Quirk Kijani would sooner clam up and ignore someone than continue with an uncomfortable conversation.
Well, this was less of a ten-minute thing and more of a "couple hours on and off while distracted by other stuff" thing, but here it is. As for samples of previous PbP, well, I'm sad to say I don't have many. I've only gotten into a few PbPs before, and they've all died before their time, not to mention not being recent at all. Still, I'll link a few old threads that I was in, for what they're worth.
