Khepri-Nef incants a sing-song spell and from the sand emerges the shape of a summoned camel. He strokes its neck awkwardly before mounting, then nudges the animal forward. From the way he rolls with the camel's steps, he seems to be used to such a mount. "Don't forget illusions. It could be hidden in part by illusions if Chisinek was a wealthy, powerful figure who could hire the right mages." He is of course somewhat biased in the matter, as an illusionist himself. A welcome clarification, especially given the blue arrow tagged "Party Location" which points elsewhere than the red cross. ;-) Regarding mounts: if there's no objection, Khepri will cast Mount. He does not relish too much exercise, as shown by his girth. If it's OK wiht you GM West, I was thinking of reflavouring it as summoning a camel rather than a horse (but keep the stats the same).

Khepri-Nef spent a good enough night as a free man, though nightmares about the gnolls woke him up a couple of times. In the morning, he prepares his spells with the help of his recovered spellbooks and headband - one that helps him think more keenly and clearly. When the time comes to leave, he sends Zip to fly above them, hoping his familiar will catch any ambush, and he can avoid ever getting put in fetters again. As new joiner, he doesn't voice an opinion for now: he is first trying to understand how the group functions, and how they're going about tryin g to find the tomb. Do we have mounts of some sort?

Nevitash wrote: Go to the the Gameplay. Put a period in (Called dotting) and post. Then delete the post. It will then appear on your list of games. Thanks for the tip! That was helpful. Do people use that to track Recruitments as well? It potentially pollutes the list of players, but perhaps that's not an issue.Last question: is there to "retire" an alias so it doesn't appear in the Post As dropdown anymore? @Urram: too late now, but the DM told me Khepri couldn't have heard of Chisinek since the party just rediscovered him. :)

"Indeed, I'm a learned wizard, graduated from the best academy in Osirion! Well met, Francis Thrannel. 'Chisisek's tomb'? I can't say the name rings a bell, though I'm somewhat experienced at exploration." Khepri-Nef's briefly rubs his belly, as if to signify that his girth is no obstacle. Spotting someone among the former captives, he calls out: "Urram! Urram, come meet our saviours. They might have need of our calling."

Khepri-Nef can barely believe his luck when dashing heroes come to save him from his horrid, smelly captors. Well, perhaps the "dashing" part needs a thorough evaluation. He rubs some life back into his limbs where the manacles bit into his skin, before thanking his liberators effusively, grabbing their hands and wishing them prosperity and a bountiful line - a traditional Osiriani blessing. He suddenly remembers something and shakes his fist at the air. "Zip, you ruffian! Come back here right this second!". A protesting cry can be heard high in the air, and seconds later a miniature dragon with butterfly wings alights on his shoulder. "You were supposed to come up with a clever plan to save me" the rotund man reproaches. Zip whispers in his ear and nuzzles his neck, and somehow manages to win the argument. "Alright, alright, I give up, you were right." "Ah, but my possessions! I must recover them! My precious spellbooks, my perfume, and my trinkets! Zip, help me search for them!" He dashes towards the piles of loot and begins to rifle through them. Some time later, a much more composed character approaches the party again, carrying a backpack and with an assortment of expensive-looking items at his belt and on his head. "I'm Khepri-Nef, and I owe you debt. How may I repay-" Quote: "I thought I recognized you! Your band of antiquarians were boxed in by giant scorpions in the Footprints of Rovagug. You have a talent for needing my help, it seems! I am always happy to provide it." "...Oh, Amenhep, is that you? I didn't recognize you; it has been a while, and you had a different armour back then, if I'm not mistaken. Well, you know what I can do - useful magics. Let me know if I can be of help." Khepri does not quite have the same memory of it as Amenhep, but he won't contradict his saviour.

By the way: how do you track updates in your games on here? From what I can tell there's no way to subscribe to threads and see all subscribed threads in a central place like on other forums. Do you just visit each game? Use the RSS feeds at the top right? (I've only recenly started gaming here.)

@Amenhep: yes, they don't need to be best friends; just having worked together before and mutually trusting each other is good enough.
@Elliander: I thought Nevitash would handle it.
Nevitash wrote: That works for me. I can take over the rogue duties. Khepri is not built for trapfinding currently (DM asked for arcane casting, he got arcane casting ;-)).

@Urram: it's not a big deal if we both have Slow, no worries there (change it or keep it as you want). Khepri's signature spells are flashier: Silent Image and Glitterdust (oh, and a Fireball from time to time - a good illusionist mixes the fake with the real). I didn't pick Haste because the Bard had it, but I guess they dropped out so it's good you have it. Yes, let's have them know each other, sounds good. What's Urram's reason to be on the expedition, btw? @Elliander: noted, will wait on Amenhep to comment.

Best of luck, Mr Taxman! Greetings all, I'm joining the fray as Khepri-Nef, a chubby Osiriani scholar and explorer of tombs who can prove tricksy when he wants to (an Arcanist with a slight focus on Illusion abilities, but in practice he uses a smattering of spells from different schools).
To ease his joining the party, I'd like him to know already someone / have worked with someone in the party: any volunteer? That facilitates establishing trust, I find. (Otherwise, who trusts an illusionist? ;-)) |
