Khatooka grew up in a flock of Tengu that live on a traveling flotilla, selling dyes along the coast of the inner sea. She did not take much interest in the craft-work herself, but she had a knack for numbers and sorted out the guild's accounting, which had been a mess. She also found that she had a knack for magic <insert bit about her patron... need to read up on the Witch class>. She built a particular bond with her Great "Aunt" who taught her about Grandmother Crow (aka Andoletta), who she reveres to this day. She developed a strong sisterly connection with a younger Tengu child, Ksshksht, although as the hatchling came into adolescence she found herself increasingly irritated by her. It wasn't long before Kha found herself in a local courtroom alongside Kssh explaining how she and the child had been found in a Taldane Port Admiral's private garden. That was far from the most exciting time in her life, however. Later that year while the flotilla was visiting Cheliax, Kha pushed an oblivious Ksshksht out of the way of a runaway carriage. She herself was trampled to death. Her father, distraught, sold themselves into slavery to pay for a resurrection for her. When she came to, she found herself frailer and weaker than she had been. But fury at her father's new condition inspired her to find some allies and free him. Alongside a kobold-raised Leshy named Kudzu (and Kssh, who snuck along to Kha's great distress) and some other people, Kha tracked down the slavers carrying her father, as well as a small tribe of Kobolds, and freed them in the night.
