"I could attempt something of instruction, but he needs discipline. Hazem, if I were to instruct you, would you listen and not hear? Would you obey and not doubt? If you can do this, we may be able to make something more of you yet. You must possess the ability to listen and obey, as a student, before we run into anything truly dreadful. Do you understand?"

He turns to stare deeply at the youth. He has no hands on the camel for the time being, and guides it with his knees - as though showing prowess. He does, however, hold back a chuckle as the camel runs for the water.

The entire show is worth his attention, if merely to note how they act in a crisis, no matter how small. He does wear a smile underneath his protection, and his body seems less burdened than it had before - mostly because the camel held his bag now, and he had some experience with camels - but nothing of the likes Hazem was going through.

"I think it'd be entertaining to watch him run across the sands - though in the end it would be far inefficient, and he'd be prone to not running the same direction. Hazem, you must learn to calm your camel, and make it respect you. Perhaps you should seek an inner peace, and come to terms with it?"

The swordsman laughed at their predicament, and pointed onwards.

"Kelmarane was my home when I was a child. I remember nothing more of it than I could - only the few, good times I had there. I grew up behind us, in Katapesh, but something bid me to come. It must be destiny that I have joined this caravan."

Khasul is more than patient. He has been doing nothing but gearing up the remainder of his supplies, ensuring he's missed nothing, though he does question the secretive meeting. He allows himself space from the caravan as they continue to finish up - and with his backpack off and marked as his, he drew his blade and began practicing blade forms.

His style is fast, and fluid, almost as though the winds themselves followed in his attacks. Marvelous spinning of blade and his body, enable him to kick up only so much sand from his rapid feet movements. It is after he is done warming up that he puts his blade away, and begins to pack a camel up, since it is what he will, indeed, be riding.

"We must hold strong, friends. The sands will not allow weakness from us this day - make sure you are prepared, or be aware of much suffering."

The man known as Khasul cleared his throat a moment. He had been listening intently, and noting how people had been reacting.

"Yes, well, I recall only my father in his few moments we had before I was forced to retreat. I, too, am from Kelmarane, and as my name is Khasul al-Rasad, Magus of the Tempest Winds, I will reclaim it and give it new life - just as the desert creatures around us thrive. I welcome any of you to assist me in this lofty goal, of course, unless you also had this idea - in which, the more the merrier."

"Hazem, you seem to be more on-edge than most of us. Calm yourself - you are amongst prepared warriors heading out into the vicious desert of Katapesh. You have nothing to fear, at all."

Khasul does more than just walk over to the bunch. After he receives a warm greeting from Garavel, he wears a smile - though through his veiled face it is visible only from his eyes. He nods firmly, and walks over with him as he removes the reins from the man's mouth.

Surely, he must have some sort of disease. Best watch myself.

"Greetings to all of you. I am Khasul, and I am pleased to meet you in our cause. I would recommend we refer to each other what we are capable of, so we know what to expect of each other should things get rough. I am an amateur swordsman, and well-read in magic - I possess the unique ability to balance both at the same time, so do not fret if I have not jumped into the fray as some might. I can bring many effects to bear on top of that - what are you able to do, my friends?"

It is apparent he wants nothing more than to be as friendly as possible - even if it is an awkward way of going about it.

Oh, don't fret it at all! As far as I can tell, you're doing a great job.

Sometimes we all make small blunders, and it was early enough I could edit my post (you do have an hour to do so, after all), so no problems were caused!

I feel blind. I looked to my backstory for meeting with Garavel, and it's my fault - editting my post.

Time for some description while I get my ball rolling. EDIT: Changed for accuracy.

As the sands move about outside, another man garbed in white and yellow garb approached the caravan from the city gates. His stature was loose, formed, and appeared completely fit for travel. As he came closer, he rose his hand in greetings, moving over to the caravan master - a fitting leader for his goal.

He came with an outstretched hand, reaching for the caravan master and hoping for it in turn - if accepted, he'd clasp his wrist, almost honorably.

"As expected. Khasul al-Rasad, in case you've forgotten. There is always much to do - what more can I assist with while we continue to prepare for our journey?"

Further inspection shows a slightly weighted backpack, and a wicked scimitar in a loose scabbard, as if he were always prepared for anything to end violently - but that was the mindset he had, living in Katapesh for so long.

"I, Khasul of the Tempest Winds, would not mind knowing any individual from Kelmarane. It is honorable to want to return, to undo the past - nothing can be greater than that."

I myself am in EST, though my sleep schedule is erratic at best right now. It's the result of staying up late, pushing all-night through a 8-1pm class, and falling asleep sometime around 2-3 pm and it jumps about from there.

I'm probably going to be asking to modify a bunch of spells in the future, so let me see if I can locate any now before we dive in.

EDIT: Oh, it's fine. I was wondering if you misspelled it to make me post faster - or just didn't see the L. *cough* I can't find too much else at the moment, since I should be looking for touch-oriented spells and most are elemental cold or lightning or chosen.

As I'd posted earlier in the other thread, I borrowed Marketus' layout for information. The sheet is complete, unless I've missed something important. In other news, I'm ready to go!

I agree with the revised houserule. I had to sleep today (yeah, funny times and all), otherwise I'd have posted earlier.

As for linking backgrounds, Khasul has spent almost his entire life in Katapesh, save when he was young - so most likely, he could have acted as a guide (and he does have Survival, trained too!)

And my first retailored spell is Hydraulic Push, named Tailwind for evocation [air]. No longer douses fires!

I honestly don't - I'd love to be able to reflavor spells too, not necessarily to circumvent resistances or anything, but to encourage my theme. Being very air/lightning element-focused, I'll probably be asking to do the same with the spell list given.

In fact, I might be doing that soon - though generally just descriptions at this point.

Back to the work of restoring my sheet, ho hum.

I literally just looked for my sheet and found that the boards ate it. I'll have to start work on the block again, and I apologize for the delay.

As for the name, I would say we should make it something a bit more mysterious, perhaps... like the 'Conclave of the Sands' sounds interesting!

EDIT: Also, Marketus, I like the layout of your sheet, so if you don't mind, I'll, uh, be 'borrowing' it! It's something I'll probably use in the future!

Oh, I realize that plenty. I figured I would send it to you now before I dedicate myself to a dexterity-oriented build!

I should have the sheet up in about thirty minutes. I like organizing things, and my statblock was horrible.

I'll probably change his self-appointed title now, though. Probably something more wind/air-oriented to match the avatar...

I'm still working on the overall sheet. I've been dealing with a midterm and other schoolwork this week, but it'll be done tonight. Wish there were more avatars to choose from. Also - would you allow the Dervish Dance feat? I found it in the OGC, and it would greatly aid my aim. (link)

Reclaiming your Roots
Magical Lineage (Shocking Grasp)
Poverty-Stricken

Those are my current traits - I even contemplated taking an Additional Traits feat, just for more depth.
EDIT: Removed my twisting of that statement. Felt it wasn't entirely appropriate. Apologies in turn.
